Back in the day before music streaming services, if you wanted to listen to music on your computer, you’d have to download it or rip it from an audio source like a CD. You would then also need a music player, and back then WinAmp was pretty much the default player for almost everyone.
These days with new platforms like iTunes and streaming services, the need for a dedicated media player has almost gone the way of the dinosaur. However, it seems that WinAmp is set to make a return, according to an announcement by AudioValley, the owner and parent company of WinAmp, they are looking to revive it.
However, if you were thinking that you might see the media player resurrected in its original form, that might not be the case. According to the description on its website, “Something big is happening. We’re building Winamp for the next-generation. Not just updated, but totally remastered. The new Winamp connects you to your music wherever you are. It brings you closer to the artists you love. It’s home to your favourite music podcasts and radio stations.”
If anything, it sounds like AudioValley might be relaunching WinAmp as a streaming platform and leveraging the brand to help garner attention. Given the popularity of streaming services, we wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case, but whether or not WinAmp’s branding is enough to compete with the likes of Spotify and Apple Music remains to be seen.

There have been many stories over the years of how asteroids have come close to hitting Earth. The most recent was actually last month where the trajectory saw the asteroid pass over Antarctica within 1,800 miles of Earth, which makes it one of the closest encounters we’ve had to date.
However, what if one day an asteroid’s trajectory was to collide with Earth, what then? That’s something we probably shouldn’t wait to figure out, which is why SpaceX and NASA are working together to test its Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) program tomorrow on the 23rd of November at 10:21pm PT.
NASA will intentionally crash the DART spacecraft into an asteroid to see if that is an effective way to change its course, should an Earth-threatening asteroid be discovered in the future
— SpaceX (@SpaceX) November 19, 2021
This is where a spacecraft will be intentionally launched into an asteroid to see if the crash will be effective enough to change the path of an asteroid should one day it ever finds itself in a path headed directly towards Earth. The actual crash itself won’t take place tomorrow, but rather on the 2nd of October, 2022 which is when the spacecraft is expected to intercept the binary asteroid known as Didymos.
Now, keep in mind that Didymos was never an asteroid that was bound for Earth to begin with, but rather it was chosen as the test subject for DART. To date, NASA has already identified at least 23 objects that could potentially collide with our planet in the next 100 years, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If you’re concerned about your privacy and are worried that your messages can be intercepted and read, then you might not want to use Facebook Messenger or Instagram to send messages that might be sensitive in nature. This is because neither of these platforms have end-to-end encryption.
Now, Meta did state that they would be introducing end-to-end encryption for these platforms in 2022, but it looks like it has since been delayed to 2023. This is according to Meta’s global head of safety, Antigone Davis, who in an opinion article for the Telegraph revealed that the feature would only arrive in 2023.
The article talks about Meta’s products and services and what they’re doing to make it safer for users to use. Davis also talks about how the company has a “three-pronged approach” to “prevent harm” and to give users more control, where she mentions, “We’re taking our time to get this right and we don’t plan to finish the global rollout of end-to-end encryption by default across all our messaging services until sometime in 2023.”
While this doesn’t mean that either of these platforms are “dangerous” to send and receive messages with, if you do have chats that might be sensitive in nature, then you should probably seek alternatives such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and so on for now.
