Less than two years ago, Mitsuoka unveiled the Buddy, a modern Toyota RAV4 that resembles an old K5 Chevy Blazer. But unbeknownst to many, Mitsuoka also built the Orochi from 2006 to 2014, a sports car with scissor doors, a … Continue reading

Apple’s Next iPad Pro Could Come With Support For MagSafe

At the moment, only Apple’s iPhones support MagSafe wireless charging (not to be confused with the MagSafe charging used in the company’s new MacBook Pro laptops). However, a report from 2021 from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that wireless charging could come to a future iPad Pro model.

Now according to a report from 9to5Mac, additional details of the rumored iPad Pro with wireless charging have been revealed. According to the report, it suggests that Apple could use a glass Apple logo for the next-gen iPad Pro that would allow for support for wireless charging through MagSafe.

It was previously suggested that Apple could adopt a glass back design similar to the iPhone to facilitate wireless charging, but there were  concerns about the durability of the tablet if such a large piece of glass were to be used. Instead, 9to5Mac’s sources now tell them that Apple could now be considering the use of a glass logo instead as a compromise.

The report goes on to state that Apple is also expected to use stronger magnets to prevent accidents, and that it could support faster charging speeds, more so than what the iPhone’s MagSafe offers. There is currently no word on when this tablet will debut, but seeing as the M1 iPad Pro launched early in 2021, we might only need to wait a few more months to find out the official details on the 2022 model.

Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset Reportedly Delayed To 2023

According to the rumors we’ve been hearing for a while now, Apple’s first mixed reality headset is said to be making its debut in 2022, which was rather exciting given how much we have been hearing about it. However, according to a recent Bloomberg report, that will no longer be the case as the headset is said to have been delayed to 2023.

Apparently the delay is due to several technical issues that Apple is having that will result in the device being delayed to next year. It seems that there are problems with both software and hardware, like its cameras and also how it is said to be experiencing overheating problems.

As some of you might recall, Apple delayed and ultimately cancelled the launch of its AirPower charging mat due to overheating issues, so hopefully this won’t be the case with the mixed reality headset. However, given that this will be a new major product category, we doubt that Apple will cancel their plans.

According to the report, Apple could potentially still unveil the device in 2022 towards the end of the year, but it might only reach customers in 2023. It also says that Apple is planning to use WWDC 2023 to focus on helping developers build up the ecosystem for its mixed reality device.

In all fairness, Apple never confirmed their plans for a mixed reality headset so a launch date was never confirmed, so it’s hard to say that this is truly a “delay”, but those who are eager to see what the company is coming up with will have to wait a bit longer.

All iPhone 14 Models Could Feature ProMotion Displays

Over the years, what we’ve noticed Apple has done is introduce new features that are typically exclusive to its higher-end models, but subsequently in future models, Apple will introduce it to the entire lineup.

This is why we can’t say we’re too surprised to learn that according to analyst Jeff Pu, Apple could bring the ProMotion display to the entire iPhone 14 lineup. For those unfamiliar, ProMotion is the name that Apple has given to its 120Hz display. It initially made its debut in the iPad Pro several years ago, but was officially introduced to the iPhone 13 last year.

However, the feature was exclusive to Apple’s higher-end iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models, but according to Pu, the entire iPhone 14 lineup could come with the feature. Pu also suggests that the entire iPhone 14 model lineup could get an upgrade in the RAM department to 6GB, which once again was exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models last year.

If this is true, then we can’t say that the recent rumors of a potential price hike come as a surprise. It was recently suggested that Apple could be looking to increase the price of some of the iPhone 14 models from the price of the iPhone 13, so perhaps the increase in price could be due to the cost of bumping up the RAM and display refresh rate across the models.

Netflix greenlights a tennis docuseries from the 'Drive to Survive' team

Netflix is making a bigger push into sports docuseries following the success of Formula 1: Drive to Survive. We learned this week that a show covering the 2022 PGA Tour and men’s major golf championships is on the way, and now the company has announced a similar show covering the world of top-level tennis is in the works.

All three shows are being produced or co-produced by the same company, Box to Box Films. Netflix says the as-yet-untitled tennis series will devote equal time to men and women. The names of the players involved haven’t been revealed, according to Bloomberg, but given the high-profile names taking part in Drive to Survive and the golf show, expect the tennis series to feature prominent figures.

Netflix has locked in deals with both tennis governing bodies, the ATP and WTA, as well as the organizers of the four Grand Slam tournaments — the biggest events on the tennis calendar. Given that production has started at the Australian Open, the docuseries could start with some major drama.

On Friday, Australian officials once again revoked the visa of Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked men’s player, this time “on health and good order grounds.” Djokovic, who is unvaccinated against COVID-19, said earlier this month that he was granted a medical exemption to travel to Australia and continue his quest for a record 21st men’s Grand Slam singles title. However, questions were raised about the validity of his exemption, and he admitted to making an “error of judgment” by attending public events in December while awaiting the awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. He tested positive.

Drive to Survive helped to boost the popularity of Formula 1, especially among US viewers. Tennis execs will surely be hoping for a similar effect from the upcoming docuseries. Last year’s US Open drew an average of 796,000 viewers, the second-lowest viewing figures since ESPN secured rights to the tournament in 2015.

Russia captures hacker likely responsible for Colonial Pipeline cyberattack

The hacker behind the ransomware attack that took down the Colonial Pipeline last year has been apprehended by Russian authorities, according to US officials.

Russia’s FSB intelligence agency said Friday that 14 people associated with the REvil ransomware group had been arrested, according toThe Wall Street Journal. The group has taken responsibility for numerous cyberattacks in the US. Officials in the US believe the hacker behind the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline last spring was among those arrested, according to an unnamed administration official who spoke to CNN.

Last year’s cyberattack, which was attributed to a ransomware gang, caused a significant disruption to the Colonial Pipeline, which supplies nearly half of the fuel for the entire east coast of the US. The temporary shutdown of the pipeline incited mass panic buying at gas stations in and around the east coast of the US, which resulted in shortages in at least 11 states.

As CNN notes, the arrest comes after a week of diplomatic talks between the United States and Russia regarding Russia’s buildup of troops near the border with Ukraine. The Biden official told the network that it believes the arrest was “not related” to the situation. But some analysts have suggested otherwise, noting that this is the first first US investigation Russia has cooperated on in eight years.
