Mini LED iMac Pro Now Expected In The Summer

There have been rumors that Apple could be planning on launching a 27-inch iMac Pro this coming spring. However, according to analyst Ross Young, who has been pretty spot on with his predictions so far, now believes that the computer could be delayed and we might see it launch in the summer of 2022 instead.

According to Young, he believes that the mini LED panels that will be used in the iMac Pro might ship in June, which means that the computer might only be launching in August or September. We’re not sure if this means that Apple will wait until then to announce the iMac Pro, or if they could still announce it in the summer but only open orders for it later.

So far, only the 27-inch iMac and Mac Pro have yet to be updated to use the Apple Silicon chipsets. Apple did announce a refreshed and redesigned 24-inch iMac back in 2021, but for those who have been waiting for the larger 27-inch iMac, it will apparently now sport the iMac Pro branding, which is admittedly a bit confusing as the company did previously discontinue the iMac Pro a while ago.

Apple usually hosts several events throughout the year, one in the spring which is usually Mac and/or iPad related, which is why many were hoping to see the new iMac Pro announced there. Assuming Young’s report is accurate, it looks like iMac Pro hopefuls will have to wait a few more months.

CD Projekt Red Working On A New ‘Gwent’ Single-Player Game

CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series has been a very well-received RPG, and even though technically the Netflix series is based more on the original books and less on the game, we’re pretty sure it still managed to attract new players to the franchise.

The Witcher’s trilogy has since been concluded, but for those who can’t get enough, you’re in luck. A report from IGN has revealed that CD Projekt Red is working on a new game codenamed “Project Golden Nekker”. This is based on the Gwent card game that was also based on The Witcher franchise, but this game will be a single-player experience.

For those unfamiliar, Gwent was originally a mini-game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but it was later spun off to become a standalone multiplayer game. However, it seems that the upcoming title will not require players to own the Gwent card game in order to get the full experience.

Gwent Comms Lead Paweł Burza told the publication that it won’t be just another Witcher Tales game, but it will be “something different” and that is aimed at players who prefer single-player titles over the more competitive multiplayer Gwent. There’s no word on when we might be able to look forward to this new game, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Apple Watch Credited With Saving Man’s Life After He Fell And Couldn’t Get Back Up

One of the features Apple built into the Apple Watch is fall detection. This is when the wearer falls down and the fall is detected by the watch who will then prompt the wearer to see if they are responsive. If the person who fell isn’t responding to the prompt, it can be set in such a way that it can call for help on their behalf.

This is pretty much what happened to an elderly man living in Morrow, Georgia, where he fell down outside and his Apple Watch called for help. The watch has since been credited for potentially saving his life due to the extreme cold where had he not been found, it could have ended much worse for him.

According to City of Morrow Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeff Moss, “Since an Apple Watch initiated the call, the location of the call could only be determined by the watch’s GPS, which reported the closest address. The Morrow Fire Department crew arrived on the scene with Morrow Police units and quickly noticed that the physical address was not where the patient was located and began a search of the perimeter.”

The man was found near some shrubbery around 12 minutes after his Apple Watch called for help. He was semi-conscious and extremely cold to touch. He was eventually sent to the nearest hospital where he was treated and later released.

Here's why your Apple two-factor texts include strange tags

If you’ve noticed that Apple’s two-factor authentication texts include much more extra text than you’re used to, don’t fret — there’s a good reason for it. As Macworldexplains, Apple has implemented a previously proposed system that uses domain-bound codes for sign-ins. The extra tags (such as “@apple.com #123456 %apple.com”) are meant to improve the trustworthiness of autofilling text codes in platforms starting with iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and macOS Big Sur.

The technique theoretically discourages more sophisticated phishing attacks that try to intercept and redirect two-factor verification messages. If you’re using one of those more recent operating systems, you’ll only get a code autofill suggestion if the domain of the site requesting a code matches the one in the text. A phishing site can’t simply prompt Apple for a code and expect an autofill prompt, then. If you don’t get an autofill prompt, there’s a good chance the site is bogus.

Apple quietly started delivering codes in the new format around November 2021. The concept isn’t necessarily limited to Apple’s ecosystem, but it has yet to be widely adopted elsewhere. Still, don’t be surprised if these lengthy 2FA texts become more commonplace and potentially thwart some phishing campaigns.
