A Pokémon Presents livestream will take place on February 27th

The next Pokémon Presents livestream will take place on February 27th, aka Pokémon Day, at 9AM ET. The Pokémon Company hasn’t revealed what’s in store, other than to say in a tweet on its Japanese account that it’ll be a relatively brief affair clocking in at around 14 minutes and you’ll be able to watch on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Pokémon Day marks the anniversary of the first games in the franchise. Pokémon Red and Green were released in Japan on February 27th, 1996. The company has announced updates for titles including Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Go and Pokémon Cafe Mix in the lead up to Sunday’s festivities, as Polygon notes.

It’s been a busy spell for The Pokémon Company on the games front. Not only did it release Pokémon Unite and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl last year, Pokémon Legends: Arceus arrived less than a month ago. Meanwhile, the beta of a virtual trading card game, Pokémon TCG Live, was released in Canada this week. It remains to be seen whether the stream will offer details about what’s next for those titles, provide an early look at something new or even both.

Tumblr Launches Subscription Service To Get Rid Of Ads

If you still read a lot of posts and blogs that are hosted on Tumblr, there’s a good chance you are seeing quite a number of ads. Given that Tumblr is pretty much free to use, having ads is one of the ways the company is earning money to keep its operations running, which is completely fair.

As noted by The Verge, Tumblr’s founder David Karp was initially opposed to the idea of including ads on the platform, but since the company needed a way to pay for its operations, there was little alternative.

However, if you’d rather not see ads at all when you’re browsing Tumblr, then you might be interested to learn that Tumblr has since announced a new subscription service where for $4.99 a month, you will be able to remove ads from the posts and blogs that you are reading.

There will be a cheaper option priced at $39.99 if you’re willing to pay for an entire year’s subscription, which is roughly a 33% discount. This removal of ads will be applicable on desktop and mobile as long as you’re signed into your Tumblr account. According to Tumblr, this is a completely optional subscription and those who don’t want to pay don’t have to, but they’ll be seeing ads instead.

Belkin Unveils New Connect Pro Thunderbolt 4 Dock

All computers come with a limited number of ports, but sometimes this depends on the motherboard you’ve chosen where some do offer more ports than others. Also, it can depend on the computer manufacturer, like Apple where with their previous-gen MacBooks, they pretty much removed all the ports save for USB-C/Thunderbolt.

If you own a Mac and would like the flexibility of having more ports to connect your devices and peripherals to, then you might be interested in checking out Belkin’s new Connect Pro Thunderbolt 4 dock.

As the name suggests, this is a dock that connects to the Thunderbolt port of your computer. While Thunderbolt and USB-C do share the same connector design, one of the advantages of Thunderbolt is that it offers faster transfer speeds so if you work with a lot of external drives and deal with large files, it might be a better choice compared to regular docks/hubs.

Belkin’s Connect Pro Thunderbolt 4 dock will be able to support connections like monitors, where it can support single displays of up to 8K resolution, or dual 4K displays. It also comes with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports (1x upstream, 1x downstream), 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, one USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, 2x USB-A 3.1 ports, 2x USB-A 2.0 ports, 1x SD card 4.0 reader, 1x Gigabit Ethernet port, 1x 3.5mm audio combo port, a PD 3.0 port for up to 90W of charging, and it even comes with a Thunderbolt 4 cable.

Belkin’s dock will not come cheap though as it is priced at $400, so it is clearly aimed at professionals who might require the speeds and ports that it offers.

Leaked Roadmap Reveals Intel’s Plan To Outperform Apple’s M1 Max By Late 2023

Based on multiple benchmarks and reviews, Intel is lagging behind Apple in terms of performance where the Apple Silicon appears to be not only outperforming Intel’s CPUs, but have also shown to be more energy efficient. If anything, this justifies Apple’s decision to ditch Intel and go with their own hardware.

We imagine that Intel would be eager to get Apple back as a customer, or at the very least produce CPUs that can outperform Apple to show that they are still the best at what they do. Based on a leaked roadmap published by AdoredTV on Twitter, Intel plans to do that by late 2023.

The roadmap suggests that the company believes that by late 2023 and with the launch of their Arrow Lake processors, they will be able to create a CPU that will be able to outperform that of Apple’s M1 Max chipset, which at the moment is the most powerful chipset Apple has made to date.

However, we have to question Intel’s alleged plans. Sure, it is possible that in 2023 they will have a processor that could outperform the M1 Max, but by then, we imagine Apple will have created the M2 Max which obviously would be more powerful than the M1 Max, so if anything this only feels like Intel is playing catchup.

It remains to be seen what kind of changes the M2 Max will offer, but the company is expected to launch the M2 this year so perhaps we’ll know a bit more by then.

Spotify reportedly took down freshly added episodes of Alex Jones' podcast

It seems Spotify has moved swiftly to remove episodes of The Alex Jones Show that were recently added to the service. Watchdog Media Matters reported on Wednesday that episodes of the eponymous far-right conspiracy theorist’s podcast had emerged on Spotify on a daily basis since Sunday, though they’ve since vanished.

Spotify banned Jones and his InfoWars outlet in 2018 over violations of its hate speech policies. Several other platforms — including Apple Podcasts, YouTube and Twitter — booted Jones off their services around the same time. Facebook and Instagram banned him the following year. The Alex Jones Show remains on Google Podcasts.

Jones made waves in October 2020, when he made an appearance on Joe Rogan’s controversial podcast — several months after Spotify secured exclusive distribution rights to The Joe Rogan Experience. As Variety notes, that episode, in which Jones reportedly made false claims about COVID-19 and vaccines, is still available on Spotify.

Engadget has contacted Spotify for comment.

The OnePlus 10 Pro Is Not As Durable As We Would Have Liked

These days, our phones are designed to focus on performance and aesthetics and less on durability. To be fair, phones that are designed to be durable aren’t exactly the most pleasing to the eye, but at the same time, we expect our phones to have some level of durability, right?

Unfortunately, that doesn’t quite seem to be the case with the OnePlus 10 Pro. This is according to a recent video posted by JerryRigEverything where they put the OnePlus 10 Pro’s durability to the test. For the most part, the phone handles things like scratches relatively well, but unfortunately when it comes to bending, that’s when things fell apart quite literally.

In the test where the phone was bent using bare hands, it appears that it manages to break rather easily and worryingly. Of course, we doubt that many people try bending their phones that often so maybe it’s something we shouldn’t be too concerned over. However, the fact that it can break so easily suggests that maybe you shouldn’t keep it in your back pocket lest you sit on it and break it.

It has been suggested that using a decent case could potentially prevent it from happening, so if you have the OnePlus 10 Pro, perhaps it might be a good idea to invest in a sturdy case for your handset.
