There is a lot of bad press surrounding Apple’s AirTag tracking accessory these days, so much so that it has finally drawn attention from public figures, such as New York’s Attorney General Letitia James who had to publicly tweet and warn people against using the tracking accessory for illegal purposes.
There was also an official post on the AG’s website where James was quoted as saying, “Across the country, Apple AirTags are being misused to track people and their belongings to cause harm. Tracking people without their awareness or consent is a serious felony and will not be tolerated by my office.”
There have been concerning reports of bad actors using Apple AirTags to track people’s locations and personal belongings, and we’re issuing guidance to help New Yorkers stay safe.

To Apple’s credit, the company did think about some of the potential issues and have built some protection measures into the AirTags, but it still doesn’t feel like enough. The company recently announced that they will be making further changes in an upcoming update to tackle some of these problems, so it remains to be seen how effective they will be.
So far, we have heard of how the AirTag has been used by people to track vehicles which they would steal later, or being used to stalk other people by hiding them in their cars or coats. More recently, and rather worryingly, modified AirTags have been spotted online where the speakers have been disabled to prevent them from making a sound, which is one of the protective measures Apple had initially put into place.

When it comes to the sound of your headphones, there are several factors that come into play that can affect the sound you’re hearing. Obviously the source material would be one of them, then the drivers and hardware used by the headphones, and there is also software like the way the company has tuned the headphones.
This means that sometimes, a pair of headphones might actually sound better for certain genres of music compared to others. However, users can always tweak this further using EQs, which is something that Bose is now introducing to their Bose QC45 headphones that previously had to rely on automatic EQ adjustments.
In theory that would actually be great if the EQ worked as it should, but given the wide variety of music out there, the way they are mixed, and so on, it would be impossible to please everyone. However, the latest firmware update will now introduce customizable EQs into the Bose Music app, giving users more control over their headphones.
While the automatic EQ adjustments might still be preferable if you listen to a wide variety of music genres, at least having the option to customize the EQ is a good thing as it gives users more flexibility, so keep an eye out for this update if this is something you have been waiting for.

The problem with Apple’s AirTag tracking accessory is that maybe it does too good of a job at tracking, so much so that people have been using the accessory for illegal activities. In fact, recently there was a report of a man, Ronald Roessler from Apollo, who was arrested for allegedly stalking a woman by placing an AirTag on her car.
The woman claimed that she had received a notification on her phone that an unknown AirTag was near her and tracking her location. It was later discovered that the AirTag had been stuck to the inside of the metal trailer hitch on her car, and police later arrested Roesseler who had initially denied any involvement.
He claimed that it was a mistake and agreed to show police his phone where he deleted the AirTag in front of them. It turns out that Roessler had some history with the woman where she actually took out a protection-from-abuse order against him. This is actually the second time we’re hearing about a person being arrested for alleged stalking by using the AirTag.
However, what’s interesting is that despite all the negative press Apple has received about the AirTag, a recent New York Times report suggests that it might actually be one of the safer trackers around due to the various protections that Apple has built into the device.

Amazon workers at a warehouse on Staten Island in New York will hold a union vote next month. Derrick Palmer of the Amazon Labor Union (ALU), an independent group that’s seeking to represent workers at JFK8, says the election will take place in person between March 25th and March 30th.
Breaking news‼️the @amazonlabor union election is officially going down from March 25th- March 30 2022. The voting will be for 6 days and will be an in person election! Shoutout to everyone who’s been supporting us throughout our 9 month campaign! #VOTEYES 🗳 #ALUFORTHEWIN

The workers refiled a union petition with the National Labor Relations Board in December after failing to obtain enough signatures in their previous attempt. This time around, the workers reached the union vote threshold, which is usually 30 percent of a workforce. More than 5,000 workers are employed at JFK8.
The NLRB has accused Amazon of threatening, surveilling and interrogating workers at JFK8 to dissuade them from unionizing. A union avoidance consultant reportedly called organizers “thugs” and said the union drive would fail.
“We remain skeptical that there are a sufficient number of legitimate signatures to support this election petition,” Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in a statement to Engadget. “But since the NLRB has decided the election will proceed, we want our employees to have their voices heard as soon as possible. Our employees have always had a choice of whether or not to join a union, and our focus remains on working directly with our team to make Amazon a great place to work.”
Earlier this month, workers at another Staten Island warehouse called LDJ5 filed a petition with the NLRB to unionize with the help of the ALU.
Another union vote is taking place at a facility in Bessemer, Alabama. The NLRB ordered a second election at BHM1 after it determined Amazon interfered in the first vote, in which a majority of employees voted against unionization. Votes will be counted starting on March 28th. Last month, a union supporter at the warehouse accused Amazon of retaliating against him.

One of the features of Safari on iOS is that it has the ability to save your login passwords whenever you log into a website to make it easier for you in the future. However, for some reason, Safari could save passwords without usernames attached to it, which we suppose can be helpful, but ultimately it created confusion for users.
For those who weren’t a fan of Safari saving passwords without usernames, then you might be happy to learn that in the upcoming iOS 15.4 update, Safari will no longer save passwords unless it has a username attached to it. Now whenever Safari saves a passwords, it will actually prompt users to enter a username as well.
Users who try to save passwords without usernames will see a prompt that says, “To save this password, enter the username for your [website] account”. This will apply to both devices running on iOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3. Keep in mind that neither of these updates are live yet and are currently in beta.
There is no word on when these updates will be released, but this change to password saving will be one of the new features that users can expect in the upcoming updates.

Last year, Twitter announced that they would be introducing a tipping feature in which users can tip their favorite creators, similar to how you would tip streamers on Twitch. Now the company has announced that they will be supporting tips that are paid using Ethereum. This is in addition to support for bitcoin which they introduced back in 2021 as well.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, tipping on Twitter basically allows creators to have another source of income. If you follow a creator on Twitter and you enjoy their posts and want to show a bit of support, you can send them a tip. This is a one-time deal and you can keep sending as many times as you want and however much you want.
Have you set up Tips on your profile yet so it’s easy for people to show their support?
Yes: Cool, we’ve added Paga, Barter by Flutterwave, Paytm, and the option to add your Ethereum address.
No: What are you waiting for? Here’s how: https://t.co/Id5TwTpnCF

Twitter’s expansion of support for cryptocurrency doesn’t really come as a surprise as the company seems to be interested in blockchain tech. Not too long ago, Twitter announced that users who are subscribed to their Twitter Blue subscription service will also be able to put NFTs they own as their profile pictures.
That being said, it will be interesting to see how many people actually will tip using cryptocurrency. This is because of the volatile nature of crypto where the value can fluctuate wildly during a day, so holding 1 ETH today might not be worth the same as the next day.

WhatsApp allows users to send voice messages, but the problem with that is the users had to listen to the voice message in the chat and if they tried to switch to a different chat, the voice message would stop and they would essentially need to start over. However, a recent update has changed that.
WhatsApp has recently pushed out an update that will allow users to continue to listen to voice messages even when they switch to a different chat. This is similar to how users can watch YouTube videos in WhatsApp and the video will keep playing even when they leave the chat and go to a different chat.
This feature was actually spotted in an earlier beta but it looks like it is now rolling out to users. This is part of some changes that WhatsApp is making to its app and voice messages. Some of the other changes include the ability to pause and play voice messages, whereas previously if users stopped the message they’d have to resume from the start.
Other changes also include the ability to review your voice messages before you send, just in case you misspoke or decide that isn’t the message you want to send.
