Samsung Galaxy Book3 Series with Flagship Galaxy Book3 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy Book3 Series

Alongside its new Galaxy S23 Series phones, Samsung has just revealed the new Galaxy Book3 series laptops at its Unpacked event in our home city of San Francisco. The new PC lineup includes the 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Ultra, the 16-inch Book3 Pro 360, and the Book3 Pro (14-inch and 16-inch).

The flagship 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Ultra is a powerhouse, featuring the latest 13th Gen Intel Core i9 CPU alongside the NVIDIA RTX Geforce 4070 GPU, the cheapest 16-inch version costs $2,399.99, and features a 13-gen Intel Core i5 with an RTX Geforce 4050 GPU, and probably the minimal configuration available, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

In case you would like to break the bank, the most powerful model is equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD (PCIe) of storage and the expansion slot allows for storage extension. It looks like all versions include a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 3K (2880×1800) resolution and a 16;10 ratio. Samsung is famous for the top-notch quality of its OLED displays, and with 400 NITs brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and 120% Color volume (DCI-P3), the Dynamic AMOLED 2X does not deceive on that front.

At 3.9lbs (1.79kg)the new Samsung flagship laptop weighs less than the latest 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro that tips the scale at 4.7lbs (2.15 kg) and is a hair thicker as well (16.8mm vs. 16.5 mm for the Book3 Ultra). Additional features include an AKG Quad Speaker audio system, Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+), connectivity, and a 76Wh battery with a 100W USB Type-C Adapter. On the port side, you will get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A connector, HDMI 2.0, a microSD slot, and a headphone jack.

The Book3 Pro 360 features a 360-degree hinge for tablet or tent mode use and is equipped with the same 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X and AKG Quad Speaker audio system as its flagship sibling. The only difference is the S-Pen capability that comes with the Book3 360.

The configurations available are less powerful than the Galaxy Book3 Ultra, all models come with the Intel Iris Xe Graphics and buyers can choose between the Intel Core i7 or Core i5 CPUs. On the memory side, you can get 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and for the storage options, you can choose 512GB or 1TB SSD (PCIe) with an expansion slot. The device features the same ports,  battery, charger, and connectivity as the Book3 Ultra. The 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 will start at $1899.99 and will be available on Feb 17, 2023, in Graphite and Beige.

According to Samsung both the Book3 Ultra and the Book3 Pro 360 will also come in 14-inch size.

The 16-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro feature list is the same as the Book3 Pro 360 except for the hinge, the 65W charger, and the HDMI 1.4 connector. Keyboards may be slightly different (we need to check on-site).

The Galaxy Book3 Pro will start at $1449.99, and will be available Feb 17, 2023, in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with Graphite and Beige color options.

Watch Four Planets Spin Around a Star 130 Million Light-Years Away

Astronomical phenomena tend to occur over timespans that dwarf our human scale—a galaxy changes over millions and billions of years, not decades. But a new timelapse of observations of a distant star system shows its clockwork motion over just 12 years, packed into only a few seconds.

'Apex Legends Mobile' is shutting down after less than a year

Along with delaying Star Wars Jedi: Survivorby six weeks, Electronic Arts says it’s shutting down Apex Legends Mobile less than a year after releasing the game on iOS and Android. The company is also abandoning Battlefield Mobile and closing Industrial Toys, the studio behind that game.

“At Respawn, we aim to provide players with games that are consistently outstanding,” Respawn Entertainment said in a statement. “Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game.” Tencent and Lightspeed had been working on the mobile version.

EA has already delisted Apex Mobile (which Apple named the iPhone game of the year for 2022) from app stores and halted all in-app purchases with real money. The game will still be playable for a few more months until the servers are switched off on May 1st at 7PM ET. EA says it won’t refund real money purchases but suggests that users can request refunds from the App Store or Play Store.

As for Battlefield Mobile, that game hadn’t been fully rolled out. EA started testing it in select markets in the fall of 2021. EA says it’s still focused on helping the Battlefield series reach its potential (it has ambitious plans for the franchise) and supporting Battlefield 2042, but a mobile version is no longer on the cards for the time being.

Meanwhile, around the same time EA announced the end of Apex Legends Mobile, it emerged that the Epic Games-published Rumbleverse, a pro wrestling-themed battle royale, will shut down at the end of this month. While big players like Fortnite, PUBG: Battlegrounds, the PC and console version of Apex Legends and Fall Guys seem to be doing just fine for now, these closures suggest the battle royale bubble is starting to burst.
