MOTOROiD 2: Yamaha Set To Unveil Self-Balancing Electric Motorcycle

Yamaha is set to unveil its unique creation, the MOTOROiD 2 electric motorcycle, at the Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show). This innovative two-wheeler challenges conventional notions of what a motorcycle can be and offers a remarkable feature: the ability to balance itself.

The MOTOROiD 2 is a follow-up to Yamaha’s original concept bike, which was designed with the intriguing idea of what an offspring between a four-legged animal and an electric motorcycle would look like. This concept bike is not just about aesthetics; it’s engineered to achieve self-balancing by incorporating a biomechanical and entomological design at its rear, which adds to its distinct appearance.

The motorcycle’s self-balancing capability is attributed to its unique hub mount position — It’s situated on a swing arm that’s connected at a pivot point beneath the rider’s seat, allowing the rear wheel to swivel and lean independently from the front. This design gives the MOTOROiD 2 the ability to find its balance, akin to a living creature, which aligns with Yamaha’s intriguing question, “How do you live with a machine that feels like a living thing?”

Notably, the MOTOROiD 2 lacks conventional handlebars, opting for handle grips located beneath the semi-transparent layered front fairing. This design aims to create an aerodynamic and comfortable riding position. However, questions remain regarding how maneuverable the bike will be with this unique handlebar setup.
The motorcycle retains features from the original concept, including haptic feedback and AI-powered facial and gesture recognition. These elements enable the MOTOROiD 2 to autonomously approach the rider, much like a loyal pet companion responding to a call.

The original Motoroid electric motorcycle had a creature-inspired design. The second iteration pushes this concept further, bordering on unsettling.

As the MOTOROiD 2 is set to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, more details about its technology and functionality will likely be revealed, providing a deeper understanding of this unconventional electric motorcycle. For additional images of the MOTOROiD 2, check out Yamaha’s global website.

Sony’s PlayStation Pulse Explore Earbuds: A Holiday Gaming Treat

Sony is set to release its PlayStation Pulse Explore Earbuds just in time for the holiday season, with a scheduled launch date of December 6th at a price of $199.99. These wireless earbuds are specifically designed for gamers and according to the official PlayStation blog, will be the only Bluetooth headphones on the market compatible with the PlayStation Portal, an upcoming portable gaming device by Sony.

Pre-orders for the Pulse Explore Earbuds will begin on Thursday, November 9th at 10 a.m. ET. These earbuds connect to the PS5 through the PlayStation Link, a USB adapter that is included with the package. The device offers versatility and allows easy switching between your PlayStation gaming console, phone, or computer. It features an AI-enhanced microphone equipped with noise rejection capabilities to isolate the user’s voice and filter out unwanted background noise.

Professional Audio Quality

Despite their price tag, the Pulse Explore Earbuds offer professional audio quality with planar magnetic drivers, a technology typically found in studio-grade listening equipment. These drivers provide a more controlled and less distorted audio experience, particularly in the bass range.

Gamers will also appreciate the 3D Audio support for supported PS5 games, offering an immersive three-dimensional audio experience with high precision. The earbuds provide a 5-hour battery life, with an additional 10 hours available through the charging case.

Pulse Elite Arriving in 2024

Additionally, Sony plans to release the Pulse Elite headset, an over-the-ear Bluetooth model with an impressive 30 hours of battery life, on February 21, 2024, priced at $149.99. Pre-orders for this headset also open on November 9th.

It’s worth noting that both the Pulse Explore Earbuds and Pulse Elite headset are the exclusive wireless audio options for the PlayStation Portal (which is launching on November 15).

While the Portal offers a 3.5mm audio jack for wired listening, it lacks Bluetooth capabilities outside of the PlayStation Link. Moreover, it’s important to keep in mind that the PlayStation Portal remote player is only functional within the confines of your home when connected to your PS5 gaming console.

The Theragun Mini 2.0 drops to a record low price in early Target Black Friday deal

Therabody’s Theragun Mini 2.0 massage device is on sale at Target for $170. That’s $30 off the MSRP of $200 and matches a previous record-low for the massage gun, so this early Black Friday deal could be your best chance to snag a muscle-soothing percussive therapy gadget on the cheap.

To that end, the deal’s only accessible today and requires a Target Circle membership. Don’t worry. It’s free to sign up, and once you do you’ll get a coupon code you can clip directly on the product page.

This is the second-generation Theragun Mini, with three massage speeds that offer up to 2,400 percussions per minute. It also ships with a trio of attachments designed for different muscle groups and the Mini boasts a rechargeable battery that gets two hours of use per charge. This massage gun actually made our list of the best fitness devices for college students, but you don’t need your head in a text book to appreciate vibration-based pain relief.

Despite being a smaller and more budget-friendly version of Therabody’s other products, we found that the Mini works nearly as well as its larger counterparts when it comes to easing tight muscles. We appreciated its one-handed design, decreased noise level during use and powerful motor.

This is a battery-powered wireless massage gun that gets around two hours of use per charge. It also connects to a proprietary app via Bluetooth that helps you create custom routines to treat specific ailments. It’s also worth noting that the Mini is also around 30 percent lighter than the company’s other massage guns, which helps with that whole one-handed use aspect. Now you’ll never have to admit weakness by asking someone else to help with muscle tightness.

Target is actually selling a few Therabody products at steep discounts, all of which return to their normal prices once Halloween is over. Beyond the Mini in black or tan, you can snag the company’s eye mask massaging device for 15 percent off.

Fake Wall Charger Safe: Hiding in Plain Sight

Because people are always looking for a clever new place to hide their valuables, this Fake Charger Secret Safe is a small diversion safe that looks identical to any one of the dozens of chargers I have lying around that I have no clue what they belong to. But what happens if you plug it in?

Available from Amazon (affiliate link), the safes look so much like the real thing they may be made from actual chargers that never had any electronics installed, complete with an attached charging plug. Available in both US and UE style plugs, make sure to get the safe that corresponds to the country you’re in, or it’ll be a dead giveaway to a master burglar like myself. Oh, who am I kidding, I can’t even find where I hid my own money.

But seriously, what happens if you plug it into a wall? Asking for a friend who will undoubtedly try plugging this into a wall, then complain when his device isn’t charging. Hey – does it smell like burning money in here to you?
