Since Apple never bothers to put its own products on sale, we have to rely on third party retailers to do it for them. Amazon Prime Day is always a good bet for Apple deals (as long as you’re not looking for new, unlocked iPhones) and this October event is no different. Right now, Apple’s over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max, have returned to $395. That’s a record low on the Lightning models and one we first saw during July’s Prime Day sale. The new USB-C version of the headphones is also on sale for $500, which is $50 off their regular price.
During the iPhone 16 event in September, Apple announced new standard AirPods but didn’t reveal a new pair of over-ear phones. Instead, the AirPods Max were given a couple of new colors and an upgrade to a USB-C port. Those models aren’t seeing the same discount, however. If you’re fine using an older charging method and don’t need one of the new colors, you can save a decent amount of cash. We should also point out that new Max headphones may come next year, but they aren’t likely to be near this price.
Internally, the models are the same, with the same balanced audio and solid active noise cancellation we experienced during our review of the cans back in 2020. Our reviewer, Billy Steele, noted that the Max headphones are on the heavy side at 385 grams but that the design makes them feel remarkably light. The onboard controls are also a joy to use and the integration with Siri is helpful.
Our main complaint with the Max is the high asking price. At $395 that issue is mitigated a bit, putting them around the same price as the top pick in our headphone guide. Still, for Apple fans who crave the brand’s premium build and aesthetic, this is a pretty good deal.

During the last day of Amazon’s October Prime Day sale, Apple’s current-model iPad mini is still going for just $350. That’s $30 less than it sold for during Prime Day in July and marks a new all-time low for the smallest Apple tablet. The 30-percent discount takes a $149 off the $499 sticker price. Though, you’ll notice the deal only applies to Prime members, so you’ll need to have that subscription in place to get the full discount.
It’s important to note that a new iPad mini may be announced soon — possibly during a yet-to-be announced October Apple event. But that new tablet isn’t likely to be discounted. Plus, what you buy now should get years of support, considering the 4th generation of the iPad mini got five years of OS and security updates after it was discontinued in 2019, and the 5th-gen iPad model is still supported after getting dropped from the official lineup in 2019.
We name the mini the best (and only) compact option in our guide to the best iPads. As far as where the model lands on Apple’s tablet continuum, on one end there’s the massive, 13-inch, M4-equipped, professionals-only, computer-replacing iPad Pro. Over at the other end is the mini. It’s good at things like showing cooking videos, handling FaceTime calls and playing games — almost like a giant iPhone.
The diminutive slab has an 8.3-inch screen that’s pretty easy to hold in one hand, thanks to bezels that split the difference between screen real estate and giving your fingers a comfortable place to grip. It’s equipped with Apple’s A15 Bionic system on a chip (SoC), which makes it technically faster than the standard 10th-gen iPad. And It’s compatible with the 2nd-gen Apple Pencil and the Apple Pencil USB-C.
When it came out back in 2021, Engadget’s Valentina Palladino gave it a respectable review score of 89, praising the portability, that lead her to use it more often that she thought she would. She also found the updated 12MP front camera to be particularly nice for FaceTime calls, particularly with the Center Stage feature that keeps you in focus as you move about your space.

Prime Day deals are here and you can grab Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 for the best price we’ve seen. The October Prime Day sale has brought the wireless earbuds down to $169, which represents an $80 discount. Apple may not have fully revamped these buds back in September like it did with the standard AirPods, but it did bring a bunch of new features to the AirPods Pro 2. Voice isolation is designed to make you sound better on calls, while Siri interactions let you use gestures like a head nod to say yes to Siri during times when you can’t use your voice to reply.
Arguably the biggest new feature coming to the AirPods Pro is the hearing test and the ability to use the earbuds as over-the-counter hearing aids. That hasn’t rolled out just yet, but it’s expected sometime before the end of the year.
Otherwise, the AirPods Pro 2 have excellent sound quality, with equally solid ANC to match, plus a Transparency Mode that’s hard to beat. Like all other Apple earbuds, the Pros support seamless pairing and switching between other Apple devices. So while they’re great for folks with an iPhone, you’ll get even more use out of them if you live within the Apple ecosystem and have other devices like an iPad or a MacBook.
Their design might be a little stale at this point, and you could say their battery life is just average, but the AirPods Pro remain a solid option for iPhone users looking for a reliable pair of wireless earbuds. If you’re not willing to spend quite so much, consider the AirPods Pro 4 with ANC, which just came out last month.

We consider the Apple Watch to be the best smartwatch for most people (as long as you have an iPhone), but if you’ve never owned a wearable before or have a tight budget, you may not want to spend $400 or more on the new Series 10. The Apple Watch SE is a solid budget option, and October Prime Day deals have brought it down to an all-time-low price. You can pick one up for $170, which is about $80 off its normal going rate.
While there were rumors Apple was going to release a new Watch SE in September alongside the latest iPhones, that didn’t materialize. The second-gen SE remains the most up-to-date version of the wearable, and it has very specific omissions to get its price down, namely the lack of an always-on display, no blood oxygen or temperature monitoring and no support for the Double Tap feature introduced with the Series 9.
But otherwise, the Apple Watch SE has all of the core features that the main Apple Watch Series 10 does including all-day activity and sleep monitoring, heart rate tracking, emergency calling, up to 50 meters of water resistance, crash detection and excellent workout tracking. It has a built-in GPS for making the latter even better, mapping outdoor activities like runs, and bike rides. And since it syncs seamlessly with iPhone, you can consider it an extension of your handset. That means you’ll receive call, text and app notifications to your wrist and you can decide which are important enough to whip out your phone for, or which can be left for later.
That said, arguably the biggest downside of the Apple Watch SE is one that all Apple Watches share — they only work with iPhones. But chances are, if you’re even considering an Apple Watch at all, you likely have the phone you’d need to use it (Android users should consider Samsung or Google wearables instead). And at this sale price, it’ll be hard to beat for iPhone users who are new to smartwatches or if you’re looking for a gift for an iPhone user in your life who you know is keen on tracking their activity more consistently or looking at the phone less throughout the day.

In August, Kamala Harris’ campaign launched a Twitch account in an effort to reach young people and some of the “hardest-to-reach voters” out there. It debuted with a stream of Harris’ acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, which is perhaps what one could expect from an account owned by a presidential campaign. On the evening of October 9, though, the channel streamed live gameplay for the first time — along with a live feed of Vice Presidential nominee Tim Waltz’s speech in Arizona.
As Wired notes, Twitch creator Preheat kicked things off by playing World of Warcraft on the channet at 6:30PM ET. Preheat, who told Wired that they volunteered for the task because of Harris’ platforms, also provided commentary about the game and encouraged viewers to vote. “GOP is the opposite of POG,” they said at one point during the stream. A spokesperson told the publication that the campaign is hoping to reach young male votes that make up most of Twitch’s userbase by streaming the rally alongside WoW gameplay.
Harris isn’t the first politician to use Twitch to reach voters. Joe Biden’s administration streamed his inauguration on the website, while Donald Trump’s camp had been streaming rallies and speeches on the platform since 2019. The former president’s account was suspended following the January 6 US Capitol riot, but it was reinstated in July this year. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is on Twitch, as well, and streamed herself a few times while playing Among Us.

The Prime Day deals are still rolling in, and here’s some good ones for the audiophiles. Bose QuietComfort headphones are available for a record-low price of $199. That’s more than 40 percent off the usual list price for one of our favorite picks for a noise-canceling Bluetooth headset.
Bose has a reputation for excellent audio tech and the QuietComfort line has adjustable EQ so you can tailor the sound balance to your tastes. The wireless headset promises “all day battery life,” but you can also opt to use them in a wired configuration. There are also multiple colors available at this reduced price, including the Blue Dusk hue that’s an Amazon exclusive.
The base headset isn’t the only one currently on sale. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones are also discounted to $329 for Prime Day. This high-end model impressed us with its combination of top-notch noise canceling and spatial audio technology. It also has touch controls built into the earcups and the headset can be turned off with head motions. The Ultra model offers the same 24 hours of battery life as the main model.
If you’re already set with over-ear headphones, you might be more interested in the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. Those are on sale for $229, almost a quarter off the usual retail price. This set has the same blend of spatial audio and noise canceling as the Ultra model, but in earbud form. We found the Immersive Audio mode was a big battery drain, but otherwise these Bose earbuds are a stellar choice for in-ear headphones.

Two former leaders from video game publisher Humble Games, Alan Patmore and Mark Nash, have launched a new outfit called Good Games Group. And ironically, the first deal this indie publisher has landed is with its team’s old parent company. According to the statement from Good Games Group, the business will work with Humble Games to provide support for previously released titles.
“Good Games Group’s mission is to bring exceptional indie games to the global gaming community,” CEO Alan Patmore said. “Partnering with Ziff Davis allows us to continue working with the amazing indie developers we collaborated with at Humble Games, while also allowing us to chart a new course for the future.” Ziff Davis is a media conglomerate that owns sites such as IGN and Eurogamer as well as Humble Games.
In July, Humble Games announced a restructuring that saw most of the staff laid off. Although a rep from Humble Games said it would continue supporting the company’s existing game lineup, this amount of upheaval is all but guaranteed to cause trouble for game developers. For instance, Squid Shock Games turned to a Patreon fundraiser to generate financial support for its game Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus. The studio’s debut title was released just before the Humble Games cuts.

Amazon’s fall Prime Day sale has brought a handful of decent discounts on Apple devices, from the AirPods Pro 2 to the Apple Watch SE to the latest MagSafe Charger. If you’ve been waiting to take the plunge and don’t want to hold out until Black Friday, here are the best Apple deals we could find from the Prime Big Deal Days event. We’ll update this post if we find anything new. As a refresher, the sale runs through the end of the day today, and you’ll need to subscribe to Prime to view some of the deals.
Apple AirPods Max for $395 ($154 off): This matches the all-time low for Apple’s over-ear noise-cancelers, though this price only applies to the older Lightning-based model, not the newer revision with USB-C. If you can live with the outdated charging port and somewhat bulky design, though, the old model still offers clean sound and top-notch ANC.
Apple AirPods 4 for $119 ($10 off): This modest discount has been available for a few weeks now, but it’s still worth highlighting given that Apple only launched its new wireless earbuds last month. We gave the pair a review score of 88, praising its improved fit, comfort and overall sound quality. This model doesn’t include active noise cancellation or wireless charging, however.
Apple Watch SE (2nd gen, GPS) for $170 ($79 off): It’s getting a bit long in the tooth, but the entry-level Apple Watch remains a fine choice for first-time smartwatch buyers, so long as you can live without the larger always-on display and more advanced health features of the pricier Series 10. This is another one of the lowest prices we’ve tracked for the 40mm model; the larger 44mm variant is similarly discounted at $200.
Apple MacBook Air M2 (13-inch) for $749 ($250 off): It’s a generation old now, but the M2 MacBook Air offers most of the same benefits as the latest model, minus the slightly faster chip, dual external monitor support and improved storage speeds in the base model. This discount matches the lowest price we’ve seen. Just be sure you can live with 8GB of RAM before pulling the trigger. And if you need more storage, the 512GB model is also on sale at $200 more.
Apple MacBook Air M3 (13-inch) for $849 ($250 off): If you’re willing to pay more for those upgrades, however, the latest and greatest MacBook Air is also discounted for $100 more. We’ve seen this discount a few times before, but it matches the entry-level model’s lowest price to date. In general, we consider the M3 Air to be the best laptop for most people.
Apple MacBook Air M3 (15-inch) for $1,044 ($255 off): The 15-inch Air is a half-pound heavier than its 13-inch counterpart, but it has a more robust speaker system, and the added heft may be worth it if you need the extra screen space. This deal only beats the previous low by $5, but it’s the best price we’ve tracked all the same. Note that this is the base model with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD; a config with double the memory and storage is down to a low of $1,423 as well.

Apple iPad (9th gen) for $199 ($130 off): This model has technically been discontinued, and we’ve seen this discount for much of the last couple of months, but it bears repeating that $199 is a great price for an iPad that’s still perfectly competent for casual media consumption. You’ll have to put up with thicker bezels, the antiquated Home button and a meager 64GB of storage, but you get (almost) the same clean software and expansive app library as any other Apple tablet.
Apple iPad mini (6th gen) for $350 ($149 off): To be clear, this is a bad time to buy the iPad mini, as Apple is expected to launch a long-overdue refresh before the end of the year. But if you don’t care about owning the latest and just want a small iPad for (relatively) cheap, this is about $30 less than the 8.3-inch slate’s typical street price over the last few months.
Apple MagSafe Charger (25W) for $32 ($7 off): While not a huge discount, this is the lowest price we’ve seen for the company’s newest MagSafe charger, which now supports wireless charging speeds up to 25W with the iPhone 16 (and an appropriate power brick).

The right kitchen tech can make all the difference in your cooking journey, whether you’ve just started to meal-prep or you have a multi-course Thanksgiving menu already planned. This fall Prime Day, we’re seeing big discounts on some of our favorite small appliances from air fryers to pizza ovens to ice cream machines.
