If there’s one thing that today’s flat-screen TVs have led to is a lack of the sort of unique designs that CRTs used to offer. I suppose this is a good thing, as HDTVs are designed to focus our attention on the image itself. That said, if you’re looking for a TV that looks different than all the others, check out this retro-style set from Seiki.

The bright red Seiki Digital SE22FR01 set is a full 1080p, 22-inch display, but it looks like an old TV from the late 1960s or early 1970s. The set offers all the modern conveniences, including inputs for HDMI, component, composite and VGA devices, and a remote control. And since the display has a chubby case, it’s got room inside for a better speaker than typical small HDTVs, with a built in 20-watt Yamaha subwoofer. Naturally, it’s got an old-school power switch and a volume dial.

Will the year 2000 be filled with flying cars or polluted air? Push-button lunches or the start of World War III? These were just some of the predictions made by fourth grade kids in 1976, who had trouble deciding if the future was going to be filled with high-tech gadgets or nuclear war. Or maybe both.

People are coming up with all sorts of weird shoes lately, but these men’s platform shoes with aquariums in the heels might actually be the most wacky of them all. Clearly inspired by I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, they’re definitely not something you’ll be wearing to work, unless the street is your office, that is.

The style itself looks like it came straight from the seventies with the wide heels and the laces. And while they look sort-of cool (again, in a bizarre way), I’m pretty sure only a handful of guys can actually wear these shoes and manage not to look like a fool.

They’d be great for disco-themed costume parties and pimp-cosplay, though.

Remember the CB radio handset for mobile phones? The first time we saw them it seemed as if they were only available in Japan. Well, bring out your trucker hats, because ThinkGeek just got some in stock.

The handset plugs into the 3.5mm jack of mobile phones and has a built-in mic on the cord, along with a on/off and volume dial and a mute button. You can also use it as a speaker, but why do that when you can use it to pretend you’re a detective or a member of the Resistance?
