Capcom Creates Mega Man Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL Case

Capcom Creates Mega Man Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL Case

Nintendo announced it will be making two very cool looking Nintendo 3DS XLs available in June and July, but not to be outdone, Capcom has announced it won’t be offering its own unique Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL, but instead, will be producing a case to celebrate the anniversary of one of its most iconic characters.

The case Capcom will be producing is Mega Man-themed and will be available for both the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL as a way to continue the blue bomber’s 25th anniversary, which by our records should have ended last year. In any case, the Mega Man case looks to be made of a metallic material and prominently displays an 8-bit Mega Man on the front, while the back has a logo for Mega Man’s 25th anniversary. (more…)

Nintendo Won’t Hold An E3 2013 Press Conference To Focus On Smaller, Direct Events

Nintendo Wont Hold An E3 2013 Press Conference To Focus On Smaller, Direct Events

We think it’s safe to say considering how Nintendo’s Wii U has been performing lately, the world will be tuning into their E3 press conference this year in anticipation to hear what exactly they have planned to turn things around for the company. That was probably the plan for many gamers around the world, but it looks like they’ll have to look for their Nintendo information elsewhere as the company has announced they won’t be holding a press conference at this year’s E3.

The news came directly from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during a financial results briefing earlier today, where he says instead of holding a presentation targeted at an international audience, the company plans to hold smaller events specifically directed to different regions. At this year’s E3, Nintendo will focus specifically on its software lineup for the U.S market as they attempt to introduce a new presentation style for this year’s show. (more…)

Nintendo 3DS Sells 13.95M Globally In 2013 Fiscal Year

Nintendo 3DS Sells 13.95M Globally In 2013 Fiscal Year

It wasn’t all bad news today for Nintendo as earlier today, the company reported its Wii U only sold 390,000 units in its previous quarter. Nintendo’s handheld business is still doing well in comparison, although Nintendo still isn’t completely satisfied with its performance.

Of course, we’re talking about the Nintendo 3DS as the company announced it had sold a total of 13.95 million 3DS units and 49.61 million software units in the last fiscal year globally. Even though those could be considered to be good, Nintendo is still not satisfied with how the handheld is performing outside of Japan. “Although evergreen titles such as New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Paper Mario: Sticker Star, released in this fiscal year, and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, released in last fiscal year, became hit titles, they did not generate sufficient sales momentum,” Nintendo said in a statement. Pink Nintendo 3DS XL Headed To U.K. On May 31

Pink Nintendo 3DS XL Headed To U.K. On May 31

The latest Nintendo 3DS XL the U.S. will be getting is the Animal Crossing: New Leaf-exclusive device that features polka dots of images that are well known within the Animal Crossing world. But if you saw the new Luigi-themed Nintendo 3DS XL, we’re sure you’re green with envy over its upcoming release in Japan on July 18. Another 3DS XL is being introduced that adds some much needed pink to the handheld’s externals, and of course, it’s another 3DS XL that’s being introduced in a non-American market.

The all-pink Nintendo 3DS XL will be made available in the U.K. starting on May 31 and won’t come with anything bundled along with it. Those in the U.S who are looking for a 3DS XL in pink can consider picking up the previously released pearl-pink and white one, but if you’re looking for one that’s entirely in pink, it looks like you’ll just have to take a trip to the U.K. and probably become a full resident in order to pick up the pink 3DS XL. Just remember the U.K. calls french fries “chips” when you head over there. It’ll save you a lot of embarrassment.

Circle Pad Pro accessory will ruin your Nintendo 3DS XL’s silhouette for $20

Circle Pad Pro accessory will ruin your Nintendo 3DS XL's silhouette for $20

Is it worth adding a lop-sided $20 piece of plastic to your already-substantial 3DS XL in order to gain a second analog thumb stick? It’s a good question and finally one worth asking now that Nintendo has announced that the currently Japan-only Circle Pad Pro for the XL will start shipping in the States tomorrow. When we went hands-on last year, we found that it added predictable amounts of girth and also blocked the cartridge port, but compensated by making the handheld more comfortable to use, not least by adding larger shoulder buttons as well as the thumb stick. It’s also worth pointing out that the smaller 3DS version of the accessory enabled better controls for left-handed players in Kid Icarus, so there could be some subtler benefits too. We’ve embedded our hands-on video after the break, so you just need to hold a $20 bill up against your screen and decide which looks better.

Nintendo 3DS XL Pikachu edition unveiled

Nintendo has announced that on March 24 it will be releasing a limited edition yellow Nintendo 3DS XL that features a cute outline of Pikachu on the back. The handset is being released the same day as the upcoming Pokemon video game for the 3DS, and Nintendo is offering a game for free to those who purchase both the special edition handset and the Pokemon game.

On March 24, Nintendo will also be releasing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, which it boasts as a game with a “deep and compelling story full of unexpected twists.” Gamers can choose to play as one of five different Pokemon through randomly generated Mystery Dungeons, where battles await and other pokemon can be recruited.

Says Nintendo, the Mystery Dungeons that are generated are “near infinite”, meaning players won’t be getting bored any time soon. In addition, entrances to new dungeons can be discovered via “everyday circular objects,” which the gamer will scan with the 3DS’s camera. It doesn’t specify what these everyday objects are, however. Only those with a 3DS will be able to play; it isn’t being offered on any other system.

The special edition 3DS will be available for $199.99 and will include a 4GB SD card. The Gates to Infinity game, meanwhile, will be priced at $34.99. Those who purchase both and register them will be given a download code for one of five free games: Super Mario 3D Land, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone, Star Fox 64 3D, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, and Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!

Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL Arriving This March 24th

Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL Arriving This March 24thEarlier this morning, we mentioned about how Nintendo has their Pikachu edition of the Nintendo 3DS XL, and just like clockwork (or the joy that you feel when a rare Pokemon appears), so too, has Nintendo officially announced the Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL that will be made available to the masses this coming March 24.

Sporting a bold yellow color, everything else about this Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL in terms of hardware will remain the same, other than the external physical difference that boasts of the familiar outline of the iconic electric Pokémon. Each $199.99 purchase will be accompanied by a 4GB SD memory card, which will be available while stocks last. Oh, and since you might want to get a game to go along with your spanking new handheld console, how about picking up a copy of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity as it will launch on the same day as the Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL? Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will set you back by another $34.99 just in case you were wondering, but if the Pokemon games’ track record in the past is anything to go by, it would be more than worth every penny you forked out for it.

Pikachu 3DS XL Arriving In The US

Pikachu 3DS XL Arriving In The USIf you grew up watching Pokemon cartoon (and experienced the whole seizure bit on TV) while trying to catch them all on your monochrome Game Boy, and are still in love with the ever expanding portfolio of pocket monsters despite breaking your voice and growing to twice the height of your 12-year old self, then here is some electrifying news that ought to make you do a small jig wherever you are – the Pikachu themed Nintendo 3DS XL will be arriving in the US later today.

Nintendo’s official Pokemon Twitter account did post a teaser image late yesterday, asking fans of the yellow Pokemon (as well as those who have yet to pick up a 3DS XL that appeals to their design tastes) to look forward to today, and we would assume that official details, especially the important ones such as price and a release date, will be announced in a few hours’ time. So far, there were whispers of retail outlets having confirmed that they have already picked up shipments of the Pikachu Nintendo 3DS XL. Initial speculation of its price point have commanded a region of $250 to $300 – how much do you think is a fair price?
