Photojojo telephoto lens offers up to 12x zoom for the iPad

As awkward and dumb as it looks, people take photos and videos with their iPads whether you like it or not, and Photojojo — the company behind a line of popular smartphone camera accessories — is taking advantage of that fact. They have released the Photojojo telephoto lens that you can attach to your iPad or iPad mini.

There are two different versions of the lens, one built for the full-size iPad and the other built specifically for the iPad mini. The full-size iPad version sports a 10x zoom, while the iPad mini lens has a 12x zoom. The lens also comes with a minimalistic case for your iPad that allows you to attach the lens to the tablet.

The two lenses also have manual focus rings on them so that way you can adjust the photos to your liking, offering you a bit of manual control over the iPad’s camera app, which leaves a lot to be desired in that respect. The lens is about the size of a small handheld flashlight, and it quickly screws on and off the iPad shell for easy storage when you’re not using it.

As for price, you’re looking at $25 for one of these lenses, which isn’t too terrible, considering that a smartphone lens from the same company is around the same price. As far as compatibility, Photojojo says that the full-size iPad lens will only work with the 3rd- and 4th-gen iPads, although you may be able to squeeze it on the iPad 2 if you really wanted to.

2) When your iPhone is missing, you can ring an alarm on the iPhone by controlling the keychain.
3) When your iPhone and keychain are more than a certain distance (set by you), both start ringing an alarm.
4) When you are not holding your iPhone, the keychain lets you know that you have calls.
5) When you lose the keychain and don’t know where you lost it, a map will be created on your iPhone telling you where you lost the keychain.

The retail price is 2,980 yen. Before starting to use it, you need to download a free application called “HiProx”. If there is any function above that you don’t need, you can turn it off in the settings. The battery lasts 3-6 months before needing replacement.

Razer mistakingly offers 90% off coupon, will honor all purchases

In what may one of the most consumer-friendly moves made by a company, Razer has announced that it will honor purchases made with a 90% off coupon that was mistakingly made public on the company’s UK store. Razer said that the coupon was put there by a third-party to test out the company’s online shopping cart, but it ended up making its way out into the limelight.

20130108_135544-580x326

Of course, once shoppers noticed the coupon, many of them swiped it like an eagle catching its prey, and according to Razer USA head Min-Liang Tan, “thousands of orders were placed in the space of a couple of hours.” However Tan assured customers that they will honor these purchases at the expense of the company.

However, there is a slight catch. All single orders that were made using the coupon will be honored, while all orders asking for multiple quantities of the same item will have the opportunity to buy one unit at 90% off. Even by doing this, Razer will likely experience an “insane amount of losses to make good on the orders.”

It will take Razer a few months to get through all of the orders made, especially considering that a lot of the items sold out and are now on backorder. However, those getting something at a 90% discount can certainly wait a few months. It’s certainly a nice gesture on Razer’s part, especially considering that they could’ve canceled all the orders legally.

Game on! Razer to honor fake 90 percent off coupon

Game on! Razer to honor fake 90 percent off coupon

The internet is often renowned for its amazing bargains, but in the uncharted waters of cyberspace the best deals are usually too good to be true. This isn’t one of those times. Recently, a bogus coupon for 90 percent off at Razer’s UK store went viral, which resulted in a frenzy of online purchases. While internet scams are all too common, the company’s response to this matter is somewhat shocking. Instead of canceling the shady orders, Razer has decided to honor them, but with some limitations. The company will uphold the discount on individual purchases for different products, but void repeat transactions on the same item. Due to some back-ordered items, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan warned that it’ll take a few months to fulfill all the orders, and professed that his outfit would incur “an insane amount of losses” in doing so. Good form, Mr. Tan, but we can’t help but cringe when trying to fathom how many of these were sold for around £11.

Microsoft Smartwatch prototyped and wireless

This week it’s been reported more than once that a Microsoft-developed smartwatch may well be on the way, today’s tip including no less than a magnetic wireless charging port on its back. This smartwatch would build on the work Microsoft had done in the 2000′s with the brand SPOT, that particular watch using FM radio signals for data. At a Microsoft TechFest research event in early March, the company’s own Bill Buxton presented a 37-year history of smartwatches. The clues are stacking up.

A source familiar with the development of Microsoft’s Xbox has spoken with The Verge this week, noting that development of a smartwatch is indeed in the works right now. Sources note that a wrist-worn device has been in development by Microsoft for just over a year, and that this machine wont just be a companion for the gaming console.

Stacking up the tips and suggestions made throughout this month thus far, you’ll find this smartwatch to be working with a 1.5-inch touchscreen display, the possibility of gesture/motion control, and a re-use of the same connectors used for the Microsoft Surface tablets. With these connectors you’ll be able to pick your watch face up, place it down in a special tray, and let it charge all night long.

This connectivity might not make it past the prototype stage and, based on what we understand thus far, the entire watch might stay a prototype into the future as well. Have a peek at the timeline below to see additional clues, bits, and pieces leading to the final product sooner than later!
