Mophie’s iPhone 5 Battery Case, The Juice Pack Helium, Now Available For $79.95

helium-mophie

Mophie is one of the most trusted names in iPhone and mobile backup batteries, and the company has finally debuted its battery case for iPhone 5. The Mophie Juice Pack Helium is around 13 percent thinner than the Air version released for iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 (get it? Helium is lighter than air), and retails for $79.95 right now direct from the Mophie store. The cases should ship in time for Valentine’s Day, the company says.

The new Mophie boasts a 1500 mAh battery, which keen readers will notice is technically enough to double the 1,440 mAh power station inside the iPhone 5. That’s enough to boost your device’s talk time life by up to 6 hours on 3G, or provide another 6 hours of cellular browsing, 7 hours of WiFi browsing, 30 hours of audio playback or 7 hours of movie watching, according to Mophie.

The new slim down design is offered in both dark metallic and metallic silver colors, with the dark scheme shipping first, and it has the same LED power indicator and forward-facing speaker ports that have made the Mophie line a winner for the past few years. Of course the things can also stand to shed some weight and girth, so this new thinner design is very welcome, but the fact is that when you need juice and you’re without any kind of outlet, having one of these on hand can really save the day, and they take up less space than something like an external charger.

One final advantage of the Juice Pack Helium is that it has a micro USB port to take the place of the Lightning connector, which handles pass-through charging and data syncing just fine. That’s good news if you’ve already got a ton of micro USB cables (one is also included) lying around from other devices and don’t want to invest heavily in replacing all those 3o-pin Apple chargers from your past iOS devices. This may be one of those cases where a blogger’s needs may not reflect the larger community’s, but I’m definitely a believer given Mophie’s track record, and for sure picking one of these up.

This week the BlackBerry Z10 has been introduced as the first all-touch hero for BlackBerry 10, and along with it come a couple of lovely accessories we’ve gotten to see up close – speakers, batteries, and all! The BlackBerry Z10 is a smartphone that’s meant to represent BlackBerry 10 as both a business and a personal smartphone, this set of accessories therefor acting as extensions of that goal with both audio conferencing and all-day battery life in mind for you, the modern professional.

BlackBerry Mini Stereo Speaker

The Bluetooth speaker you’re seeing here is not made to be hinged entirely on the success of the Z10, as it connects with Bluetooth to any device you’ve got handy. Being able to work with BlackBerry software for conference calls with its own microphone input and loudspeaker output will be fabulous for your future teleconference needs. This beast will be costing you MSRP $100 USD and has a unique shape made to clip on to the many belts in your life – seatbelt, messenger bag belt, or to simply sit on your desk quietly.

BlackBerry Z10 Battery Charger Bundle

The Battery Charger Bundle is a machine that’s made to be as sleek as possible in surrounding the Z10 unit specifically. You’ll be working with a spare battery that’s made for the Z10 which you can charge while you’re on the go, switching this and your primary battery out in the middle of the day or whenever you have the need to do so. With this simple accessory you’ll never again be without battery life. The Battery Charger Bundle will run you a mere $50 USD MSRP and will be available right around the same time as the Z10 hits stores across the USA and abroad.

The main case you’re seeing here is the Flip Shell, a fabulous horizontally flipping back cover for the Z10 that’ll have you sitting up with ease. The Holster and Pocket cases you’ll be seeing soon have magnets that turn the display off on the Z10 when they’re closed (or you slip the device inside, that is), and the whole lot will cost you between $30 and $40 USD each. The Shells will cost $35 USD each and the whole bunch will be hitting shelves right around the same time as the Z10 itself – can’t wait!

BlackBerry Z10 gets clip-on speakerphone, charger bundle and cases galore

BlackBerry Z10 gets clipon speakerphone, charger bundle and cases galore

No launch of a new flagship is complete without a few new accessories to go along with it. While RIM is still banking big on the NFC-powered Music Gateway, it wasn’t about to let the Z10 sit around with no new friends to keep it company. Obviously, a BlackBerry isn’t a BlackBerry with out few leather holsters to keep it strapped to your hip. The fancy leather cases (both the “Holster” and the “Pocket”) even have a magnet inside them that automatically turns off the display on your Z10 when it’s slipped inside. The rotating holster will set customers back $40, while the Pocket, with its fewer moving parts, will cost only $30. There are other cases on the horizon too, the Transform Shell and Flip Shell, which feature build in kickstands and basic protection in standard black or bright red. Both shells will retail for $35 when they hit shelves.

A bit more intriguing is the BlackBerry Mini Stereo Speaker, a tiny speaker phone that pairs using Bluetooth and has a unique “U” shape that allows you to clip it on to a seatbelt or (shudder) a lapel. The little white speaker will launch alongside the Z10 for $99. The charging bundle is pretty simple at first glance — it contains a spare battery and a separate charging cradle for $50. But, upon closer inspection, you’ll realize the charger has a microUSB out, for pushing power to any device with a compatible adapter. We’re sure more fun accessories are in the pipeline too, once third parties start updating there product lines.

Star Wars Engagement Rings: May the Force be with Your Marriage

This isn’t the first time we’ve see geek-themed engagement rings, and I’m fairly certain this won’t be the last either.

You might have heard all about Star Wars creator George Lucas’ engagement with his longtime girlfriend earlier this month. If you’ve been mulling about popping the big question yourself, then here’s one fun engagement ring option you can look into: this his and hers Star Wars ring set.

Star Wars EngagementThe rings are made and designed by Chelsea Swank. Aside from sterling silver, you can have the rings made from gold, platinum, and white gold, like the Death Star rings we showed you last week. You can also choose to have the rings adorned with a stone, like the ones you see above, or forego it if you prefer a simpler look.

Even if you’re not planning on getting married anytime soon, then you can use these as promise rings or as boyfriend-and-girlfriend rings even. Because yes, they’re too awesome to miss out, and they might no longer be in stock by the time you actually want to get hitched.

Star Wars Ring

The following symbols are currently available for use on rings: the Jedi Symbol, Death Star, Rebel Alliance, Imperial Cog, and the Boba Fett Chest Symbol. If you have one in mind that’s not on the list, then you can hit Chelsea up with a message and who knows? She might just design your preferred symbol into a ring. Aside from that, you can also make a request to have the rings engraved with a special message.

The Star Wars rings in sterling silver go for $325(USD), the gold ones are priced at $1,050, the white gold ones retail for $1,250, and the platinum rings cost $3,000. Gemstones will set you back another $75 each – a bargain compared to building an actual Death Star.
