Fan Made Titanfall Titan Mech Action Figure: That Was Fast

Titanfall is an upcoming online multiplayer FPS for the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. It seems to be one of the better launch titles for the Xbox One, putting an emphasis on agility and speed while rockin’ some sweet-looking mecha. A Japanese custom toy maker appears to have the same strengths. He managed to make a replica of the game’s giant robot, even though the game isn’t out yet.

I could very well be mistaken, but I’m guessing the toy maker uses the moniker nammkkyys. What I gleaned from his blog is that he based his replica on the publicly available trailers and images of Titanfall, as well as the large Titan bust that was shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. What makes his feat even more impressive is that he made it from scratch; it’s not a mod of an existing action figure. I think he took a few liberties here and there, but overall he did a great job. The action figure is about 9.5″ tall, which by the toy maker’s estimate makes it a 1/30 scale replica.

Check out nammkkyys’ blog for more images of the impressive Titan action figure. Be sure to check his previous posts to see his work in progress images; those will give you a better idea of his skill and dedication. Seeing as Respawn Entertainment i.e. Titanfall’s developer itself was the one who spread the word about nammkkyys’ work, I wouldn’t be surprised if he scores a free copy of the game for his work.

Pimp2-D2 Action Figure: Mech Daddy

If you’re going to the New York Comic Con with a kid, stay away from Booth 208. Otherwise you’ll have to explain why there’s a small batch of gold-domed R2-D2 action figures each rocking a purple hat, a cape and a cane. Because this isn’t a Count Dracula costume.

This robotic uh, solicitor is the work of Jason Chalker aka Manly Art. He also made a poster featuring his scandalous creation:

You can get the poster from Jason’s online shop (his other artworks are NSFW) for $20 (USD). As I said the action figure will only be sold at the New York Comic Con and will go for $50 each.

Life-sized Stormtrooper Action Figure: TK-42-Want

Check out this awesome Star Wars toy for rich kids. This life-sized Stormtrooper is coming soon from Gentle Giant. It stands nearly six-feet-tall and is a replica of the original Kenner Stormtrooper toy. It even has the same articulation, so you can pose this thing just like the original.
Stormtrooper figure
It was scanned from a mint-condition 3 3/4″ figure and enlarged to life size. This Stormtrooper also comes with an authentic re-scaled blaster. I only wish that I had room for this amazing figure in my home.

You can pre-order it now for $2,300(USD) and it will ship around Q3 2014. This guy is NOT a little short for a Stormtrooper. He’s just the right size.

Custom Blade Runner Action Figures: Wake up, Time to Play

You know what stinks? Loving a movie that doesn’t have any actions figures that you can collect. Blade Runner is a good example. There are no official Blade Runner action figures, and that’s just plain wrong.

However, San Francisco freelance artist Scott Petterson has created a custom and very realistic series of 12″ action figures based on Ridley’s Scott’s 1982 sci-fi thriller. Scott works in wax when he sculpts to get those incredible details. He even created some “end of the movie” versions of Deckard and Roy Batty, when the characters are covered with battle wounds.

It takes two to three months to create one of his reproductions, but the end result is really amazing. I wish toy companies could do this good a job. I wish I could buy the whole set.

He plans on making more characters from the film, like Dr. Eldon Tyrell and Gaff. You can buy some unpainted head sculptures from his art blog if you like what you see.

Custom Steampunk Link Action Figure (Hy)rules

This awesome custom Link action figure has it all. Look out Ganon. You are about to have a very bad day. This amazing custom figure was made by KodyKoala, who wanted to explore what the Zelda games would be like if they were set in a steampunk universe.
link figure
After seeing this, I believe that he should be the one to populate that universe. He wanted to make a futuristic Link, but still keep some of the classic things that we all love. He also wanted to have a fun way for Link to carry all of his inventory. It looks like Link has about fifty some items he is carrying here.
link figure1
It took a lot of parts, so it ended up being a more expensive than he wanted. But that is why it looks so good. This figures stands about 6 inches tall. You can buy it for $300(USD) in his Etsy shop.

Custom Contra Action Figures: I’d Give 30 Lives for These

If you’re one of the thousands of kids who grew up playing Bill and Lance’s excellent adventure aka Contra, join me in ogling these custom action figures by John Harmon aka Mint Condition Customs. They even come with the different ammo types!

John imagined what Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone would look like if they starred in a live action Contra movie back in the 80s. That last qualifier is important; I certainly don’t want to see the Governator with his shirt off these days. The action figures are poseable and have swappable equipment, including ammo belts, flak vests and the machine gun, spread gun and laser ammo attachments.

BROTALITY. It would be awesome if they came in a box that played Contra’s title theme when it’s opened. These action figures are currently being auctioned off on eBay, where as of this writing the bid sits at a criminally low $41 (USD). Although I think part of the reason why it’s that low is because John won’t accept bids from buyers with 0 feedback. In other words, don’t bother signing up on eBay just to buy the action figures because John won’t entertain your bid anyway.

Wheatley Gets a Body

Despite being just a hovering orb, Portal 2′s Wheatley is arguably one of the greatest video game characters of all time. At least one of the greatest video game characters without arms or legs. Now, the disembodied, moronic sphere has a body of his own.

wheatley body 1

This awesome custom Wheatley action figure was made by Technabob fave toy hacker Kody Koala. His body was made using various parts from robot toys, while Wheatley himself started off as a keychain. Kody sculpted his portal gun and trusty companion cube from scratch. Yikes, Wheatley with a portal gun can’t possibly be a good idea.

wheatley body 2

If you think that Wheatley deserves a body of his own, open a portal over to Etsy where you can buy this epic custom action figure for $160(USD). Of course, knowing how idiotic Wheatley is, he’d probably trip over himself if he had legs.

Guy Masters Universe, Builds Giant Skeletor Action Figure Replica

If you are a He-Man fan who finds the 80′s action figures just a little too small, check this out. Oh and clear some floor space if you want to make one of these yourself. This is a giant replica of the Skeletor action figure, no doubt made by the power of Grayskull.

skeletor
This giant action figure was made by Diego D. Gonzalez of DDG Colecciones. I guess the standard action figure size wasn’t big enough. Skeletor even has his staff accessory, which has been super-sized as well.

Here are some images and video documenting the build…

Boy that stand being used to hold Skeletor up during construction doesn’t look too comfortable.

You can check out more images from the build here if you want to try making one for yourself. Good luck with all that.

Custom Star Trek Transformer Action Figure: Enterprise, Roll Out!

Artist TJ Wilferd aka Unicron9 loves making custom action figures. Last year he boldly went and took Star Trek where the franchise hasn’t gone before – to the world of Transformers. He made an action figure that he calls Autobot E, a robot whose vehicle mode is the Starship Enterprise.

*cue transforming sound effect*

To take his creation to the next level, Wilferd even wrote a brief origin story for Autobot E. Capt. Picard and his crew were taking out the remnants of the Borg when they pick up a strange metal relic from one of the Borg’s ships. The relic then proceeds to take over the Enterprise and upgrades the ship. Eventually it directs the crew to Cybertron, which was being attacked by the Borg. A beatdown ensues and the adult Power Rangers win the day. I would love to see an animated short of that.
