Twin Peaks Action Figures Are Sadly Not Real

It’s too bad that Twin Peaks didn’t last longer on TV. It had some quirky characters and plenty of dark and bizarre goings-on. Plus, we never even got any action figures. At least these action figure mock-ups from Twin Peaks let us see what we missed out on. All of your favorites are here with perfect matching accessories.

Special Agent Dale Cooper comes with his donuts and coffee mug, while Lucy Moran has a watering can and plant, and Windom Earle comes with several disguises. These come from illustrator Max Dalton who created them in poster form for Spoke Art’s David Lynch-inspired art exhibit. It is too bad they aren’t real products. I would buy the whole set.

Yes, there is even a log lady with log accessory. Fire walk with me over to Max Dalton’s site to see the rest. You can also order the 18″ x 24″ limited-edition poster over at Spoke Art for $50(USD).

A Song of Ice and Fire Battle Damaged Action Figures: Toys of Wood and Paint

[SPOILERS] Craftsman and artist Mick Minogue made action figure-style woodcuts of some of Westeros’ infamously battered – or worse – characters for the Winter is Coming art show at the Ltd. Art Gallery. Needless to say, the figures give away some of the novels’ plot points and are most certainly not for kids.

Mick also made high quality packaging for the action figures, each with a funny blurb that alludes to the fate of the characters. Mick also said that the art show is based not on the HBO TV series Game of Thrones but on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, allowing Mick and the other artists to give their own interpretations of how the characters looked.

That last figure. Man. You’re on Arya’s list now Mick. Mick made eight action figures; if you can’t check them out at the Ltd. Gallery, keep an eye on Mick’s Facebook page, where he’ll share photos of the other toys. Mick also said he might make more aside from the ones he made for the show. It’s not like he’s lacking for material.

Firefly Action Figures in the Works from Funko

There are a lot of adults that collect action figures from various sci-fi movies and TV shows. One of the most beloved science fiction series to hit TV, and not last long, was Firefly. Fox killed the show after only a handful of episodes leaving a lot of geeks angry to this day.

Firefly has been off the air nearly a decade now, but fans are still hardcore about the show. If you’re one of them, news has surfaced that Funko will be making a line of action figures from the show.

They plan on making big head Firefly Pop! figures, retro style Re-Action figures as well as their more detailed, fully-articulated Legacy series. The company will also to be making Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Arrested Development action figures too.

The Firefly Pop! and Re-Action figures are expected in Spring 2014, while the Legacy figures should hit in late 2014.

Custom Activision/Atari 2600 Action Figures: If Only River Raid Had a Person in It

Looking back at the Atari 2600, it really wasn’t very good until Activision came along and raised the bar for graphics and sound for the early 8-bit console. To commemorate these classic games, Chicago Toy Collector Dan Polydoris created this nifty set of custom action figures.

The set of five action figures got their start as various G.I. Joe characters, but they’re now sporting that perfect Activision 8-bit look. While Pitfall Harry is surely the most recognizable of the bunch, the other games were all pretty solid too – especially H.E.R.O. – though I never knew its protagonist’s name was Roderick.

Jurassic Park Meets Dr. Seuss: Seusstastic Park

Action figure modder Sillof loves to remake popular characters by casting them in the style of different eras or genres. But when the owners of the Best Western Denver Southwest hotel approached him last Spring, they wanted him to combine two popular franchises. But he stepped up to the challenge and delivered. Welcome to Seusstastic Park!

The hotel owners asked Sillof to mashup Jurassic Park with Dr. Seuss because they were giving their business a dinosaur-themed makeover. Also because they just love Dr. Seuss. Sillof came up with Catahaturuses, a Lorceritax, Dilos, Yellosneechtors, and the most terrifying creature of them all, the Grinchasaurus rex. He also came up with a Seuss-ified version of the Jurassic Park gate and car.

But that’s not all. In true Dr. Seuss fashion, the hotel owners provided Sillof with the first and last stanzas of a poem about Seusstastic Park, and Sillof filled in the rest of the poem. You can read the poem on Sillof’s website. Sillof said he had fun with the project and is thrilled with how it turned out. He also said that the hotel owners may auction off the figures for charity, so keep an eye out on the Best Western Facebook page if you want to own a piece of Seusstastic Park.

15 Toylines from the ’80s That Will Never Ever Be Coming Back

15 Toylines from the '80s That Will Never Ever Be Coming Back

The ‘80s were the golden age of the action figure, but not all ’80s toylines were gold. For every He-Man or Transformers, there are a dozen series that will never return — either because they’ve been forgotten, or they’ve been outclassed, or just because they sucked in the first place. Here are 15 toylines whose relaunch is forever aborted.

Life-Size. Stormtrooper. Action Figure.

The notion that less is more has no place in the world of action figures. At least, that’s the only reasonable conclusion you can come to after you see this life-size six-foot-tall Stormtrooper you can make your very own.

Custom Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon Action Figure: Go Modded or Go Extinct

This custom 7″ action figure of the Crimson Typhoon wasn’t made by triplets. It was modded by toymaker/jaeger meister/apocalypse canceller John Mallamas aka Jin Saotome.

Jin modified NECA’s official action figure of Pacific Rim‘s Chinese mecha to make it more poseable and attractive. He replaced its arm hinges and added ball joints on its ankles. He also replaced the hands using parts from Transformers action figures and made a plasma blast prop for its left hand. He also installed an LED on its eye and added a ton of sculpting detail. Finally, he repainted the entire toy, adding details like wear and tear.

Jin put the action figure up for auction on eBay, but it’ll most likely be gone by the time you read this. But he’s also going to sell custom action figures of Pacific Rim‘s main mech Gipsy Danger as well as of the Knifehead Kaiju, so watch out for those on his deviantART page. He should make his own take on a mecha-Kaiju.
