Adobe Reader 11 For iOS Updated, Comes With PDF Conversion Now

Adobe Reader 11 For iOS Updated, Comes With PDF Conversion NowIt was a couple of years ago when we brought you word that Adobe Reader for iOS is finally available. Well, fast forward two years, and you have Adobe Reader 11 for iOS updated, and this time around, it will come with the much desired PDF conversion features. With the introduction of CreatePDF, it would mean you are now capable of transforming images, a slew of Microsoft Office files as well as other viewable formats into PDFs – using nothing but the app itself, how neat is that?

Apart from that, there is also the ExportPDF function, which happens to be a spanking new service which will do the opposite – you can end up creating other kinds of documents including the well loved and used Office or RTF file formats, all directly from the PDF itself. I do hope that the export and conversion processes would be able to ensure that all formatting is retained. Unfortunately, just like lunch, neither of these features will come free as they can be activated via in-app purchases. ExportPDF will cost you $19.99 annually, while a CreatePDF subscription (that will be accompanied by ExportPDF) will cost $89.99 a pop. If you tend to get plenty of work done while you are on the move, then forking out such money for these features make plenty of sense.

Vulnerability In Adobe Reader Discovered By McAfee

Vulnerability In Adobe Reader Discovered By McAfee

A new vulnerability has been discovered in Adobe Reader by security firm McAfee. The vulnerability makes it possible for people to see how a PDF file has been used. This un-patched security issue exists in every version of Adobe Reader, according to Haifei Li of McAfee. The latest sandboxed Adobe Reader XI, version 11.0.2, also has this vulnerability. It doesn’t allow code execution, meaning that this flaw isn’t a problem that should set off alarm bells, but it could pose a certain kind of threat.

The vulnerability only allows a sender to see where and when a PDF file has been opened. It is not entirely harmless though. This security flaw could be used by hackers to gain sensitive information such as ISP details and IP addresses  McAfee hasn’t been able to pinpoint who is exploiting this Adobe Reader flaw as yet, but believes that an “email tracking service” provider is involved. Adobe hasn’t commented on this issue as yet, though McAfee says that they have reported this security flaw to Adobe, who haven’t confirmed to them whether they’ll be releasing a patch in the near future.

Adobe Reader for iOS and Android updated with cloud storage support

Adobe Reader update for Android and iOS adds cloud storage for viewing and editing on the go

On Monday, Adobe dropped details for an update to its iOS and Android versions of Reader. The most noteworthy enhancement here is the introduction of cloud file storage with Acrobat.com, which allows users to view and edit documents seamlessly across mobile and desktop devices, à la Google Docs Google Drive. Reader Mobile has also gained FormsCentral data support, improved selecting and highlighting of Asian text, and mobile document rights management with secure watermark support. If Android is your mobile platform of choice and you’d like to give these new features a spin, head on over to Google Play to claim your prize. iPhone owners, on the other hand, have a bit of a wait ahead of them. The update is still awaiting Apple’s approval before hitting the App Store.

Adobe Reader 10.1 for Windows Phone brings updated file browser, new search functions and more

Adobe Reader 101 for Windows Phone brings updated file browser, new search functions and more

Judging by WP Marketplace reviews from folks like yourself, the platform’s Adobe Reader application is in much need of a few tweaks — and, well, that’s exactly what the Flash maker’s done. As it did with its Android and iOS counterparts a few months back, Adobe’s now bringing an updated version (10.1, to be exact) of its mobile Reader app to the Windows Phone 7.5 (or later) crowd. Among the most notable features you’ll find are a revamped file browser, new search functionalities that make it easier to find words and phrases within documents, plus the ability to navigate PDF documents using the Page Scrubber or bookmarks you have set. Unfortunately, Adobe Reader 10.1 isn’t up for download just yet, but it won’t be too long before it eventually starts showing up on Redmond’s app market.

Update: As our dear commenters have pointed out (and the Marketplace has since confirmed), the Adobe Reader update is now available for everyone’s downloading pleasure. Enjoy.
