Huawei runs David Cameron’s preferred porn-filtering system, just FYI (updated)

David Cameron's preferred pornfiltering system is run by Huawei, just FYI

Authorities in the UK have never had quite the same level of anxiety over Huawei that we’ve witnessed in the US, and they’ve so far been happy to let the Chinese firm get involved with numerous parts of the country’s data infrastructure. As it turns out, the company’s control even extends to the “Homesafe” filter used by internet service provider TalkTalk, which David Cameron recently praised during his push for tighter controls on adult content. The BBC discovered that UK-based Huawei employees are able to decide which sites are blocked on TalkTalk’s service, and that even users who opt out of Homesafe have their internet usage data routed through Huawei’s system. Whether or not this is an issue depends entirely on how much you trust reports of close ties between Huawei and the Chinese government, versus Huawei’s claim that these concerns are based on anti-Chinese prejudice rather than evidence. From a purely practical point of view, however, if the mission is to block off huge swathes of the internet, why wouldn’t you hire an expert?

Update: A representative of Huawei has been in touch to provide the company’s side of the story. He said that Huawei doesn’t “run” the Homesafe system, but that the system is “supported by Huawei” without Huawei having control over it. He added that Huawei does not decide which sites are blocked, and that the final decision as to what filters are implemented rests with TalkTalk. Meanwhile, the BBC is apparently standing by its story, since it has issued no retraction.

Saints Row IV banned in Australia due to ‘unjustified’ evil

Saints Row IV banned in Australia due to 'unjustified' evil

For every tearful accountant at Saints Row HQ, there must be a gleeful marketing person punching the air, playing mini golf and doing whatever else marketing people do when they’re full of glee. Conflicted emotions aside, however, game publisher Deep Silver can now claim the notorious distinction of having its latest title, Saints Row IV, rejected outright by the Australian Classification Board (ACB). It’s the first such refusal since the ACB implemented a new R18+ rating, which is meant to allow for adult themes within games but which evidently couldn’t cope with Saints Row’s peculiar depictions of sexual violence (which were “not justified by context”) or its drug-themed reward system (which is “prohibited by the computer games guidelines”). According to The Guardian, this effectively means Saints Row IV is banned from sale in retail stores in Australia, but Joystiq has received word from Deep Silver saying it intends to create a “reworked” version of its open-world game specifically for that country. Meanwhile, the regular version has been given PEGI 18 and ESRB M ratings elsewhere, and it looks to be on track for an August release date.

Japan’s premium dildo manufacturer voted best in J-AV industry

Japan's premium dildo manufacturer voted best in J-AV industry

Japan might not like to use the nomenclature of the english speaking world. A vibrator is called “Handy Massager” and porn is called AV. Even with the different names, there is no difference in popularity for these type of devices. The J-AV industry, annually grossing billions of Yens, makes being an AV-Idol one of the top-paid “modelling jobs” on the market.

Madenma, or short “Denma” started out as a fairly simple company manufacturing regular massaging equipment. It came as a shock for the company when suddenly their product started getting plenty of visibility in AV (Adult Video) features. The free advertising clearly paid off, as it only took a few years for Madenma to transform from massage specialist into the top selling vibrator brand in Japan.

The company got so famous with these massagers, that they started creating cordless models an kinky coloured models in different sizes. There is a small “Handy Massager” in the family  <about 3.3cm x 18.5cm>  appropriately named ” Fairy Mini Mini ” priced at around 3500 Yen. The ” Fairy Baby ” is the smallest member of their lineup measuring a mere 2cm x 7cm and powered by USB/smartphone charger.

Their biggest model is called “Power Shake” ( 6cm x 28cm ) also priced around 3500 Yen, “Industry grade” quality. Specifications as follows:

  • Power supply – AC100V 50/60Hz
  • Power consumption – 10W
  • Time rating per session – 20 min
  • Number of vibrations: HIGH approximately 6,500 times/m
  • Number of vibrations: LOW approximately 5,500 times/m

So if you’re a girl who wants to get her “buzz” on, feel free to visit the Madenma website or order yours (and other massaging equipment) right from our friends at J-List Japan.

Adult Fans of LEGO Get to Play: No Kids Allowed!

I’ve loved LEGO bricks since I was a little kid. I’ve never had the time or patience to build some of the more complex and gigantic creations that some of you guys have, but I’m still a huge fan. Now adult LEGO fans have an opportunity to play with their bricks without feeling out of place.

LovePalz iPhone Sex Toy Rejected by Kickstarter, Launches on Its Own

Kickstarter has spawned thousands upon thousands of product ideas, some good, some bad, and way too many iPhone cases and iPad stands. So when something truly different comes along, I’m kind of surprised that they’d reject the idea from being posted. I guess they thought that LovePalz was just too racy for their site, but that didn’t stop its makers from launching their own website that looks suspiciously like a Kickstarter page.

lovepalz

The device lets partners in remote locations get each other off using the latest in teledildonic technology. The two-part system allows consenting adults to remotely control the moving sex toy on the other end of the connection. I think you can get the picture from the image below.

The toys are named “Hera” and “Zeus” – one for a man and the other for a woman. They each have a motion sensor built in, which can detect the movements of the other party, and transmit that data wirelessly via Bluetooth and then through an iPhone app, which includes a video chat capability. The device on the other end of the line then moves in concert with the remote one, using a moving piston on the Hera, and an air pump on the Zeus.

Of course, if the LovePalz is too racy for the generally liberal Kickstarter, I can’t imagine how they’ll convince the notoriously conservative Apple to allow the app in the App Store. Maybe since it doesn’t have any explicit content in the app itself, they’ll be able to pull it off. Pun intended.

If you’re interested in getting in on the ground floor, you can pre-order the LovePalz over on their website. Despite what the video clip states about pricing, the toys will sell for $49.95(USD) each, or $94.95 for a pair – at least during the fundraising stage. And if you’re a really big spender, you can splurge for a 24K gold edition for $10,000.
