Ainol Novo 10 Captain does more than just Full HD

All right, you can more or less say that the race for high resolution displays is definitely on where tablets are concerned. In fact, we look set to move beyond what Full HD offers, as Chinese tablet manufacturer Ainol has drawn up plans to roll out a spanking new Android-powered tablet that will feature a 10-inch display at a whopping 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, running on a beefy quad-core ATM 7029 processor. Calling it the Ainol Novo 10 Captain, you can more or less say that this is in many ways similar to the recently announced Ainol Novo Hero II, although it comes with a higher resolution display this time around.

Currently unavailable on the open market, the Ainol Novo 10 Captain can be pre-ordered, where the 8GB model will retail for $213, while there is a 16GB model which can be ordered for $260. Other hardware specifications include a 10,000mAh battery, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with a Mali 400 graphics processor, 1GB RAM, and a microSD memory card slot, a mini USB port, and HDMI output. At the back lies a 2-megapixel rear camera, while there is a VGA front-facing camera. WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity as also thrown into the mix just in case you were wondering. We look forward to the day when this arrives at the FCC.

Ainol Novo 10 Hero II sports Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Chinese tablet manufacturer has come up with the rather nobly named Ainol Novo 10 Hero II, where this 10” Android tablet will feature an IPS display at 1,280 x 800 pixels, running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. That is not all though, as the main selling point of the Ainol Novo 10 Hero II would most probably be its quad-core processor underneath the hood, retailing for just $240 a pop.

The Ainol Novo 10 Hero II will be powered by a 1.5 GHz Actions Semiconductor ATM7029 quad-core processor alongside a ARM Mali 400 graphics chipset, making it ideal for those who want to jump aboard the Android bandwagon, and yet do not want to fork out a premium for it. I guess we will only know just how well the Ainol Novo 10 Hero II performs should we finally be able to get our hands on a unit, and run actual performance tests on it. Still, that kind of hardware processing power with one of the more recent Android operating system versions with such a screen size, and yet being more than $100 more affordable than an iPad mini, makes it quite the tempting purchase, does it not?

Chinese tablet maker Ainol is stepping up from its ICS-running Novo 7 to the Novo 7 Crystal, a new dual-core 1.5GHz model running Jelly Bean for $139. Below the hood is an Amlogic 8726-M6 Cortex A9 processor, a Mali 400 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The 7-inch touchscreen display sports a 1,024 x 600 resolution, and Ainol chose an IPS panel for wide viewing angles — that’s not exactly common for a tab in this price range. The whole package weighs 0.72 pounds (328 grams) and measures 0.4 inches (11.2mm) thick, and the tablet will be available in black and white.

The Novo 7 Crystal will be WiFi-only (802.11n), though there’s room for a 3G modem on board, and connections include a microSD card slot, mini-USB port and mini-HDMI. Notebook Italia says the Crystal will start shipping on September 28th, though we’ve yet to see any official word on availability. Click through to the source links for more details.
