Alcatel One Touch Star Does The Mid-Range Dance

Alcatel One Touch Star Does The Mid Range DanceDo you remember the kind of handsets that Alcatel came up with in the past? I clearly remember their AA-battery powered models, which personally, I felt was a waste as those AA batteries could have served a Game Boy far better, but then again that is my personal opinion. Well, Alcatel does seem to be making a soft comeback of sorts with their Alcatel One Touch Star, and judging by the hardware specifications, folks who are on the lookout for a mid-range device will be able to check it out as it does seem to be a decent device that is set to arrive across the pond soon.

In Sweden, the Alcatel One Touch Star is set to retail for around $315 as an unlocked device, where that will net you a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel shooter at the back with LED flash capability, a VGA camera in front, powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, accompanied by 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, all running on a 1,500mAh battery, with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice being most likely. I suppose all will be revealed at Mobile World Congress that is set to happen real soon, so stay tuned!

Alcatel One Touch Evo 7 makes FCC pitstop, still runs Ice Cream Sandwich

Alcatel One Touch EVO 7 makes FCC pitstop, still runs Ice Cream Sandwich

If it’s ICS, you can be sure it ain’t fresh. And Alcatel seems to know that, but it’s offering a base version of its non-HD One Touch Evo 7 tablet that runs that so very 2011 Android OS anyway. Yes, this is the very same 7-inch “modular” slate we saw at this past CES, except now it’s made an appearance at the FCC, indicating market availability on the horizon. Just in case you need a refresher, Alcatel’s outfitted the tab with a WSVGA (1,024 x 600) display, single-core 1GHz Rockchip CPU buffered by 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage — nothing to get excited about, really. All the goods are here on display, from test setup shots to its user manual. So, feel free to peruse the source below for a glimpse at the official docs.

Alcatel One Touch Tab7 And Tab7 HD Budget Tablets Revealed

ONE TOUCH Tab 7 HD Alcatel One Touch Tab7 And Tab7 HD Budget Tablets Revealed[CES 2013] Just like they did with the One Touch EVO7 and EVO7 HD, Alcatel has announced the One Touch Tab7 and Tab7 HD, with the main difference being in the display resolution, processor and its camera features. Starting with the One Touch Tab7 HD, this tablet will come with a 7” HD display with a resolution of 1280×800. It will be powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and will be accompanied by 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, a 2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. Available in Q3 2013 for the US market, the One Touch Tab7 HD will be priced at around $149, making this an affordable solution for those shopping for an Android tablet.

However if you’re looking for an even cheaper alternative, the One Touch Evo7 priced at $129 could be the answer. Powered by a 1GHz single-core processor with only 4GB of internal storage by default (still expandable via microSD), the Tab7 will only come with a VGA front-facing camera and a display resolution of a rather low 1024×600. The only consolation so far would be the fact that it run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, unlike the One Touch EVO7 which only comes with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Alcatel One Touch EVO7 And EVO7 HD Tablet Announced

ONE TOUCH Evo 7 HD Alcatel One Touch EVO7 And EVO7 HD Tablet Announced[CES 2013] Alcatel might not be the first choice when it comes to Android tablets, but for CES 2013 this year, the company has announced several Android-based tablets at affordable prices that will be making their way into the US market come Q3 later in the year. However out of all the tablets they will be announcing, only one of them will offer a removable 3G/4G module meaning that you will be able to rely on your carrier’s mobile internet instead of solely on WiFi. This would be the One Touch EVO7 HD tablet, which at the same time comes in a non-HD version which is lower specced and does not feature the 3G/4G removable module. (more…)

Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD 8” Tablet Unveiled

ONE TOUCH Tab 8 HD Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD 8” Tablet Unveiled[CES 2013] Alcatel has unveiled several tablets for CES 2013, but if 7” tablets aren’t your thing and you’re looking for something a little bigger, then maybe the One Touch Tab8 HD might be worth checking out. Featuring an 8” IPS display with a resolution of 1024×768, the Tab8 HD will be powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor with 1GB of RAM accompanying it.

It will also come with 8GB of NAND flash memory which can be expanded via microSD, a 2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera and will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. If all of this sounds familiar, it’s because Alcatel announced the One Touch Tab7 HD which shares similar specs save for the display size.

It’s not the most powerful Android tablet we’ve seen and in all honesty there are better tablets that can be had for its price, but if you think that paying $179 is justifiable for a tablet of this caliber, then you might be interested to learn that the Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD will be available in the US come Q3 2013.

Alcatel outs two high-spec One Touch phones: the 5-inch 1080p Scribe X and Scribe HD-LTE

Alcatel updates One Touch phone range with 5inch 1080p Scribe X and Scribe HDLTE

Just like CES itself, Alcatel is only just getting started. In addition to the 5-inch 720p Scribe HD that was just announced, there’s also going to be a Scribe X version of that handset with a top-end 1080p panel, a slightly faster 1.4GHz quad-core processor and a higher-res 12-megapixel rear camera. Separately, there’ll also be an LTE version of the Scribe HD, which we gather will have much the same specs except for the faster modem. So, the crucial upgrade options are there, just not at the same time.

Alcatel’s affordable OneTouch Pop phone lineup revealed for Q1 arrival

Alcatel's affordable One Touch Pop smartphone lineup announced for Q1 availability

In addition to the quad-core One Touch Scribe HD and the astonishingly thin One Touch Idol Ultra, Alcatel just took the wraps off of its 2013 lineup of budget Android smartphones. The trio consists of the One Touch X’Pop, S’Pop and T’Pop, which will be sold throughout Asia, Europe and Africa. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to determine how aggressively Alcatel plans to push these devices, as the company hasn’t announced pricing for any of the handsets.

Leading the pack is the X’Pop, which includes a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540) display, a dual-core 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The phone also features a 5-megapixel primary camera, a front-facing VGA shooter and a microSD card slot. The X’Pop is set for availability this month.

All three Pop handsets will come in two different flavors: one that offers HSPA connectivity over the 900 / 2100MHz bands, and another that sports HSPA access over the 850 / 1900 / 2100MHz bands. In all cases, quad-band GSM is part of the mix. To learn about the One Touch S’Pop and T’Pop, just hop the break.
