OnePlus, a nascent company founded by ex-Oppo executives, still has a lot to prove before it can take a seat at the adult table. The company’s first smartphone, OnePlus One, is due to be launched on April 23rd. It has confirmed a few details about the specifications, but so far hasn’t given us a glimpse of the design or the materials its expected to use. Not wanting HTC to hog the spotlight today, the folks at OnePlus decided to take a swing at the All New HTC One.

After weeks of teases and Internet leaks, the All New HTC One, is official. Announced in New York City this morning, the All New HTC One improves on last year’s model with a larger 5-inch 1080p resolution display, sturdier aluminum construction, the addition of a microSD card, and three cameras (one on the front and two on the rear).

Earlier today HTC finally announced its 2014 flagship. The All New HTC One a.k.a HTC One M8 is out in all its glory. Its going to take some time before the smartphone hits shelves, fans of the device would probably be itching to get their hands on one right now. Last year a few months after the company launched the original HTC One, it also launched a Google Play Edition variant. It appears that an All New HTC One Google Play Edition is one the cards as well this time around.

Its safe to say that Verizon subscribers won’t have forgotten what happened last year. Big Red was the last major U.S. carrier to release the HTC One. It was rather late to the party, making subscribers wait until August even after rival carriers had already released the smartphone a few months back. There exists a possibility that history won’t repeat itself this time around. With HTC due to announce the All New HTC One on March 25th, its possible that Verizon may release the smartphone on that very day, at 1 p.m. EDT.
