Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 Update Being Rolled Out

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 Update Being Rolled Out

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 update for the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The previous major update this tablet received was Android 4.1.2, which was rolled out a few months back. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 update is being rolled out in stages, so it might take a while before it becomes available in your region. Tablet owners in Germany have already received the update, and since Wi-Fi only variants don’t need carrier approval of the update, it shouldn’t take a lot of time before the update becomes available in your region as well.

The Android 4.2.2 update brings a host of improvements and new features. A new Daydream screensaver mode, widgets on the lockscreen, separate toggles page in status bar and more are included in this update. A few features exclusive only to Samsung devices are also included as well, alongside the usual slew of bug fixes, performance and stability improvements. Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 owners may download the update over-the-air straight on their tablet itself, or they may hook it up to a computer and do the deed through Samsung Kies. Those who’re feeling a bit adventurous can obtain the flashable firmware file online and flash it manually on the tablet, though only advanced users should head down this road.

This update for the company’s flagship’s variant from last year brought enhanced Sense 5 UI as well as other improvements. Soon after that update was rolled out in various regions such as Europe and Asia, the Android 4.2.2 update for HTC One X has been rolled out in those regions as well. Samsung Galaxy Grand Gets Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean As Final Update

Samsung Galaxy Grand Gets Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean As Final UpdateFor a smartphone that was officially announced at the beginning of this year to hit the end of the road where its upgrade path is concerned is rather sad, considering how some of the older devices in the market will forge onwards with a newer version of the operating system. In a nutshell, the Samsung Galaxy Grand will officially stop its Android updates at Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and seeding for this last major update is happening in Russia already, with the global version of the ROM tipped to arrive in the days ahead.

Just what can users expect from the latest update for the Samsung Galaxy Grand? Well, you will be able to enjoy details such as lock screen widgets, advanced toggles menu, a daydream screensaver, improved task switching and a bunch of other minor tweaks which is said to enhance the overall user experience. Those who are in a hurry and do not have the patience to wait for a global Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean rollout can pick up the firmware here, although the flashing process will always involve some risk while voiding your warranty. If you picked up the Galaxy Grand earlier in the year, are you disappointed that the update cycle has ended all too quickly?

Android 4.2.2 For Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE And Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Released

Android 4.2.2 For Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE And Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Released

Samsung has been on a roll recently, rolling out Android 4.2.2 update for a number of its devices. The company has now released said update for Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE model GT-N5120 and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 3G model GT-P3100. Android 4.2.2 update for both of these devices is being rolled out in stages, so users shouldn’t expect the update notification to be immediately pushed to their respective device. It will depend upon your region or country, though it should take more than a couple of days for the roll out process to complete.

The first market to receive Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE Android 4.2.2 update is the UK. It weighs in at about 1.3GB, users will have the option to download it over-the-air or through Samsung Kies once the update becomes available in their region. For the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 the first market is France and it weighs around 895MB. Expansion to other markets around the globe might have already begun. It remains to be seen how many of its devices Samsung decides to tap for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which has only been released for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices right now. Xperia Tablet Z LTE (SGP321) Android 4.2.2 Update Rolling Out

Xperia Tablet Z LTE (SGP321) Android 4.2.2 Update Rolling Out

Sony has been gradually rolling out Android 4.2.2 update for its Xperia devices. Only a few days ago we reported that the Xperia ZR was receiving said update, quite a while after some of the high-end Xperia smartphones had already received it. It appears now that the Xperia Tablet Z LTE, model (SGP321), is receiving Android 4.2.2 update. No word as yet when Sony will begin the roll out for the Wi-Fi variants.

The update brings a few user interface tweaks as well, apart from the features built in to Android 4.2.2. Navigation buttons are centralized now and the notification bar has been moved up top, similar to how it is placed in recent smartphones and tablets. Google Search and app drawers retain their positions in the upper corners. A pull down quick settings feature, normally found in Xperia smartphones, has also been added to the Xperia Tablet Z through this update. It is likely that the update is being rolled out in stages, so it might take a few days for the notification to pop up in your particular country or region. One can assume that after Sony is done with rolling out Android 4.2.2 for the LTE variant, it will turn its attention towards the two Wi-Fi variants. [Image via Xperia Blog]

Samsung Galaxy S2 Might Not Receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Due To TouchWiz Issues

Samsung Galaxy S2 Might Not Receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Due To TouchWiz IssuesThe Samsung Galaxy S2 is definitely a legendary handset for Samsung, where it really pushed Samsung to the forefront of the smartphone market, being a decent challenger to the iPhone’s dominance at that point in time. Over the years, this handset has managed to keep up with the software update cycles, even when the Galaxy S3, and subsequently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 were released. Well, it does seem as though the Samsung Galaxy S2 might have reached the end of the road where its operating system is concerned, with word that this handset will not be on the receiving end of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update.

Apparently, the reason cited for this halt in operating system updates is because the TouchWiz layer is not compatible with the update. To put it in plain English, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be too old for the update, or it could be that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is light years ahead of the Galaxy S2 itself. Sorta like how certain new engines cannot be fixed into an old jalopy. Of course, none of this is finalized, but it was just the German site Connect.de that mentioned so.

DNP Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition what's different

Several days ago we received a Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition to play with and shared our first impressions. This week we take a closer look at what’s different between this handset and its TouchWiz-equipped cousins by scrutinizing the benchmarks, battery life and camera performance. Samsung pleasantly surprised us at Google I/O when it announced a Galaxy S 4 running stock Android. HTC then joined the party with its own unskinned superphone, the One. This Galaxy S 4, which landed in the Play store on June 26th for $649 contract-free, is identical to T-Mobile’s 16GB model and shares the same specs. So, what does stock Android bring to this flagship? How does it compare to the TouchWiz versions? Is anything left behind? Finally, is this Google Play edition worth the extra cash? Hit the break to find out.
