Google I/O 2013 Schedule Finally Revealed

Google I/O 2013 Schedule Finally Revealed

The Google I/O 2013 schedule has finally be revealed. The company is shaking things up a little bit this year. Unlike in the past, when it made separate product announcements in separate keynotes, the company will be conducting a 3 hour keynote session in which it will announce all of the products it has planned for us. The keynote session will kick off at 9am PST on the 15th of May. Google live streams various sessions from the conference, so it can be expected that this three hour keynote will be live streamed to those who couldn’t make it to Moscone Center in person.

As far as new products are concerned, the previously rumored release of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie has reportedly been delayed and it won’t be announced at Google I/O 2013. Recent rumors suggest that the company will be announcing Android 4.3 instead. New hardware is also expected, this includes the Motorola X smartphone, a 32GB LTE Nexus 4 and possibly a revamped Nexus 7 tablet. Google will also be conducting various sessions on six main tracks, Android, Chrome & Apps, Google+, Google Cloud Platform, Google Maps and YouTube at the conference which runs from 15th to the 17th of May.

Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 To Get Android 5.0? [Rumor]

A pre-list reportedly obtained from Samsung reveals that the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 will get the Android 5.0 update when it is released in the coming months. Android 5.0 or Key Lime Pie is yet to be announced, though its quite obvious that not a lot of older devices will be compatible with it. If this list turns out to be correct then only five Samsung devices will be updated to Android 5.0. These five devices include Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, Note 8.0 and Note 10.1.

The list also reveals that Galaxy S2 and the original Galaxy Note will received Android 4.2.2 update, though it is going to be the last update they ever get. Apart from these two devices, there are around fifteen other devices that won’t receive any updates after version 4.2.2. These include the following:

  • Galaxy Grand
  • Galaxy Grand DUOS
  • Galaxy Ace 2
  • Galaxy S III mini
  • Galaxy Beam
  • Galaxy Express
  • Galaxy S Advance
  • Galaxy S II
  • Galaxy S II Plus
  • Galaxy Premier
  • Galaxy Note
  • Galaxy Young
  • Galaxy Young DUOS
  • Galaxy Fame
  • Galaxy X Cover 2

The mid-range Android devices that Samsung released last year and in Q1 2013 will receive a value pack update, this according to the same source. This list is obviously not confirmed by the Korean manufacturer, and it remains to be seen what the final list turns out to be.

List Of Samsung Devices Rumored To Receive Android 4.2.2 And Android 5.0 Updates

List Of Samsung Devices Rumored To Receive Android 4.2.2 And Android 5.0 UpdatesWhen a new version of Android is pushed out, the question many Android users are probably asking is when will they get it? This wait time will depend on a few factors, such as how long it takes for their manufacturer to push it to their phones, and if you’re living in the US and you’re tied to a carrier contract, you will have to wait for the update to go through your carrier first before pushed onto your device. In any case if you own a Samsung smartphone or tablet, the folks at SamMobile claim to have gotten a list of Samsung devices that will see updates to Android 4.2.2, as well as which devices are planned to receive the Android 5.0 update.

It should be noted that the devices getting the Android 4.2.2 update will probably see this update as the last one that they will be getting. Also since Google has yet to officially announce the next-generation of Android, it might be a bit premature to refer to it as Android 5.0, but that will be the placeholder for now until Google I/O where hopefully an announcement will be made. In any case if you own a Samsung device, check the list after the break to see if you’re smartphone/tablet will be getting the update. We can’t tell if this list is true or when the updates will be pushed out, so don’t get your hopes up just yet. (more…)
