Ubergizmo Launches its Social Reader for Facebook

We already have a Facebook page with over 20,000 fans, however, we’re sure that you want more, so we decided that we needed a Social Reader specifically designed for people who love to hang out on Facebook and read their news from there.

All the stories that you enjoy reading on our website are now simultaneously available in our Social Reader. Additionally, the Ubergizmo Social Reader allows you to see which post your friends have read and keep track of the stories you have read in the “My Mag” section, post comments, and get access to the most popular articles.

See a few screenshots in the full article or try it live!

We would like to thank SnipeAd the company that developed the solution used in our Facebook Social Reader. (more…)

Distro Issue 48 arrives with the Nexus Q, Levar Burton and more

After a brief respite to recover from last week’s hot dog and homemade ice cream comas, our tablet mag is back in action. Getting our e-publication affairs back in order, Brian Heater sits down with Levar Burton to chat about Reading Rainbow, a new iPad app and Star Trek gadgetry. Hitting on another bit of childhood nostalgia for many of us at Engadget HQ, Alexis Santos drops by NASA’s Launch Control Center (LCC) for a tour after more than three decades of operation. On the review front, we roll up our sleeves and put both the Nexus Q and the Samsung Series 9 through the wringer while offering some in-depth impressions. “Eyes-On” takes a peek at the Google booty offered to I/O attendees, “Hands-On” our latest gadget outings and Gaikai’s founder admits his reliance on the PowerPoint gods in the Q&A. Google Analytics App for Android gets launched

Google Analytics, a service from Google that generates detailed stats of websites, has just been launched on Google Play. Google Analytics App for Android will allow users to access the same accounts and profiles they will see when they open the Analytics web app from a desktop browser, but the dedicated app for Android will let users view reports that are specifically optimized for Android smartphones, similar to the one above. So what can website owners expect from the app? Google promises real-time analysis, showing you the number of visitors you currently have, as well as a list of the websites that are popular.

Users will also find the dashboard nifty, as it shows KPIs and user metrics. Google said users will be able to see their Daily Unique Visitors and Goal Conversion Rates by default, but added that users can also customize the dashboard to change which reports, metrics, and segments they want to see. There’s also an automatic and customized alerts feature that detects “statistical anomalies” in your data. The feature will then send alerts to users when something out of the ordinary happens. So, if you’ve been waiting for this, get the app now via Google Play.

Sprint launching 4G LTE in five cities this coming July 15

Sprint has just announced that it will be deploying 4G LTE in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City and San Antonio on the 15th of July. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said that the new network will deliver faster data speeds with 4G LTE and an improved overall 3G experience. Today’s announcement is the start of Sprint’s aggressive expansion of its 3G and 4G network through its Network Vision program.

The new network scheduled to be deployed next month hopes that its customers in the aforementioned areas will experience better signal strength, fewer dropped/ blocked calls, faster data speeds, expanded coverage and better overall performance as the improvements roll out across the country.

Sprint expects to complete its 4G LTE nationwide network capable of serving 250 million people in the U.S. by the end of 2013. “The performance of both the 4G LTE and improved 3G networks are exceeding our expectations and we are pleased with the progress of the entire Network Vision program,” Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said.
