Adobe’s subscription-based software service is three months old and the outfit is rolling out the first of its regular updates to the Creative Cloud set of applications. Alongside a new preview of Adobe Edge (now Edge Animate), added features to Adobe Muse highlight this round of improvements — set to go live for members at 12:01 AM EDT tonight. The app that allows users to create websites without writing a line of code now includes custom contact forms, links to downloadable files (PDFs and such) and the option of using HTML5 animations from Edge and other programs. Other tweaks range from align / distribute and ruler guides that you’ve grown accustom to using on the fly in Creative Suite to a few FTP and publishing enhancements.

Also included in the news is that the company plans to roll out select new features to the regular ol’ Creative Suite offerings ahead of the annual release schedule to Creative Cloud subscribers. Some of the newfangled features that will arrive in CS7 will arrive early for those who opt for the membership route as each product team sees fit. For example, a file-packaging feature for Illustrator that was previewed recently is on its way soon. In order to get the entire truckload of new tech that the aforementioned release stands to haul, though, you’ll have to wait until the entire lot hits in properly licensed form. Sound like the kind of early access you’d enjoy? Well, those looking to switch from the normal CS license model (CS3 and later) can join the Cloud for $29.99 per month for the first year instead of the usual $49.99 until August 31st.

RIM took some time out from its worldwide tour to confirm that it’s standardizing screen resolutions for BB10. Tim Neil took to the company’s developer blog to say that forthcoming full-touch devices will ship with 1,280 x 720 displays, while keyboard-style phones would pack 720 x 720 screens. The only handset that won’t play by these rules is the first (presumably flagship) BB10 handset, since it’s too late to change its 1,280 x 768 screen. The company’s urging developers to get tweaking to ensure apps run properly on the new gear — or add letterboxing to offer a Sergio Leone feel to your mobile gaming.

Up until now, Box.net (otherwise simply known as Box) had been quietly snubbing the Windows Phone platform altogether, but today’s the day the cloud service finally ports its storage and sharing goods to Redmond’s mobile OS. As far as the app goes, Box is keeping things relatively simple — much like on iOS and Android — but adding a few tweaks to fit nicely alongside that Metro UI, including tidbits like pinning tiles to the Start screen for viewing updates on files. Of course, you’ll also be able to manage your content straight from the application, as well as locking any docs with a passcode in case “paranoia” is your middle name. Notably, Box knows it’ll have to compete directly with Microsoft’s own SkyDrive, to which Chris Yeh, VP of Platforms, says his company “will be watching carefully to see if SkyDrive gets the better integration” of the two. Regardless, folks can download the Box app now from the WP Marketplace, and best of all, it won’t cost you a single dime.

Keeping up with America’s need to be constantly connected, Honda has unveiled its new HondaLink service, which will be featured in the new Accord (along with future Honda models). The service is the result of a partnership between Honda and Aha and allows drivers to listen to a selection of Internet-based stations, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Yelp restaurant listings. In order to use HondaLink, consumers will need to download the HondaLink app for either iOS or Android and then link their phone to their car via Bluetooth. Since the service is completely controlled through this smartphone app, HondaLink won’t need its own data plan to function.

While it may sound like having access to Facebook and Twitter in your car would cause some potentially costly distractions, the goal of HondaLink is actually to make accessing these sites and stations while driving safer than it would be by using your smartphone. For example, HondaLink converts your Facebook news feed to an audio stream, and doesn’t allow users to post a status. The content you listen to in your car is selected in the smartphone app ahead of time, allowing for a personalized lineup of content that “enable customers to put away their phone and still stay connected to the people, music and media they love.”

HondaLink will be making its debut in the 2013 Accord, but it will also be included in future Honda cars. Honda has also announced plans for a version of HondaLink made specifically for electric vehicles. HondaLink EV will allow consumers to remotely view their car’s charge and even initiate charging, along with granting the ability to start up the air conditioning or heating while the car is connected to a power source. That way, you can have your car toasty warm or frigidly cold the second you get in it without sacrificing any battery life.
