Apple Begins Testing Related Search Suggestions In App Store

Apple Begins Testing Related Search Suggestions In App StoreIf you’re trying to search for apps on the iTunes App Store, it seems that Apple has recently begun testing a search suggestions feature on the app store. As you can see in the screenshot above, the related search feature is place below the search bar itself, so for example if you were to search for “calendar”, which is a pretty generic term, suggestions might include calendar planners, daily planners, and so on.

Another example would be search for a news reader, in which the relevant research suggestions will spit back terms like feed reader and business news, just to name a few. For example some people get their news from apps like Feedly which is a feed reader, while others might prefer more direct sources like a specific app like Bloomberg or CNN. (more…)

Depart Of Justice Lands Conviction Against Android App Pirates

Depart Of Justice Lands Conviction Against Android App PiratesJust like normal software for computers, mobile apps can be pirated too, which is why the team Evad3rs received a lot of flak when they included the Taig Chinese store in their jailbreak which was found to play home to a lot of cracked and pirated apps. Unfortunately pirated mobile apps is an ongoing thing and we guess there are users out who find that $0.99 is still too dear of a price to pay.

That being said while we have heard of how courts have managed to land convictions for pirating movies and music, the same cannot be said for mobile apps, at least until recently where the Justice Department has managed to successfully land their first ever conviction against mobile app pirates. UK Government Looking To Apply 20% VAT To Digital Downloads

UK Government Looking To Apply 20% VAT To Digital DownloadsFor the most part, Apple’s iTunes App Store downloads are more or less valued the same based on the price of $0.99. Of course there will be differences due to the currency conversion, but for the most part they remain somewhat affordable. However it seems that in the UK, there is a chance that UK iTunes App Store users could face a price hike of 20% which is basically the country’s “value added tax”.

Why is this? Well at the moment app stores like those by Apple and Amazon currently exploit a tax loophole which allows digital downloads, like apps, music, and books to be downloaded and bought without having to pay the 20% VAT, which in turn allows them to pay much lower international tax rates. Wendy’s Starts Accepting Mobile Payments In The U.S.

Wendys Starts Accepting Mobile Payments In The U.S.Following similar plans announced by Burger King last week, Wendy’s has announced that it is now accepting mobile payments in restaurants across the U.S. Wendy’s has been testing mobile payment over the past year. The My Wendy’s app, available for both iOS and Android, now lets customers pay for their purchase at most of the 5,800 locations in the country.

The move towards mobile payments shows that fast food chains are increasingly targeting younger customers, often referred to as “millennials.” Its no secret that this particular demographic appreciates the flexibility of being able to do a lot of things through a phone, the chains are simply looking to tap into that.

Burger King recently announced that starting next month its mobile payment program will go live. Rival McDonald’s acknowledges importance of mobile payments and is currently testing it out in select locations around the country. Even Chipotle is conducting its own experiments with this payment method.

In order to pay through the My Wendy’s app, customers won’t need to scan it. Instead they would need to tap the app to generate a six digit number, which they would then give to the cashier. For now, the app doesn’t offer any discounts or even a loyalty program, but it could do so in the future.

    Twitter #Music Bites The Dust

    Twitter #Music Bites The Dust

Twitter #Music has been around for over a year. It never really took off after its launch, which came as a result of We Are Hunted’s acquisition by Twitter back in 2012. The team behind We Are Hunted built Twitter #Music as a service that provide users with an entirely new method for music discovery, based on what music and artists were generating the most buzz on Twitter. Active development on the iOS app has been halted for months, and today it was officially announced that Twitter #Music will no longer be available on the App Store.
