WhatsApp, for those unfamiliar, is one of the more popular instant messaging apps in the world. It was also recently acquired by Facebook. However it seems that despite the app being somewhat solid and good to use, there are some security flaws in the app itself which opens it up to hackers who wish to get their hands on message history.

This is according to Bas Bosschert, a technical consultant who has more than 10 years of experiencing with Linux and Unix, who claims to have recently discovered a flaw in which developers or hackers will be able to access WhatsApp users’ message history.  (more…)

Apple has in the past been sued on multiple occasions regarding its in-app purchase system. While the system itself is perfectly legit, parents have found to their horror that their kids have racked up thousands of dollars in in-app purchases without their knowledge.

To Apple’s credit, they have since offered refunds to those who might have been affected by this issue. Apple has also reportedly been trying to get this issue down pat in line with the FCC, and it looks like they are taking steps in iOS 7.1 to ensure that customers cannot say that they were not warned beforehand. What started off as a crowdfunding campaign is now one of the best selling smartwatches out there. From its very humble start, Pebble has made a name for itself and the company continues to improve their product, making it truly a strong competitor in the wearable device market. Recent improvements include the launch of a steel model as well as the addition of Watchapps, which are basically apps for the smartwatch. When it comes to poking fun at the competition, Nokia has never been one to shy away from doing just that. In fact they recently made fun of Samsung for their attempts at sponsoring the Oscars by providing Ellen Degeneres with a Galaxy smartphone, calling the photos taken blur.

It’s interesting that Nokia is pretty daring especially given that as far as their position in the smartphone market is concerned, they’re not exactly leaders, especially in the face of other brands like Samsung and Apple. In fact despite reports that Windows Phone is on the rise, it is still pretty far behind both Android and iOS, but it seems that won’t stop Nokia from bragging anyway. (more…)
