Hitman GO Arriving On iOS 17th April

Hitman GO Arriving On iOS 17th AprilThe Hitman franchise has largely relied on stealth in order for players to complete their missions, although we guess this largely depends on the type of player and whether they’d rather creep their way around, or burst into rooms gun blazing. That being said, Hitman could be getting a less fast-paced version of the game in the Hitman GO title which is scheduled for release on mobile devices.

According to Square Enix Montreal, they have announced that Hitman GO will be seeing a release on the 17th of April where it will launch on iOS devices followed by Android devices at a later date. The game will also be shown off at PAX East this week so there is a good chance we could be hearing about the game in the next few days as well.

The game will be a turn-based version of Hitman and will feature a rather interesting look in the form of a diorama-styled set pieces on a grid. It will sort of play like the Hitman game, except in turn-based style, and will also offer players access to the usual suspects, like disguises, distractions, sniper rifles, and the likes.

The game will also be priced at $4.99 and will offer access to 68 levels, all of which can be unlocked by playing through the entire game. The studio has also announced that there will be additional levels added in the future, so that’s something worth looking forward to. No word on whether the game will have in-app purchases (we’re hoping not) so we guess we’ll just have to wait until the 17th of April to find out. In the meantime who else is looking forward to this new style of Hitman on their phone/tablets?

Amazon Announces Acquisition Of ComiXology

Amazon Announces Acquisition Of ComiXologyIf you love getting your comics digitally instead of heading on over to the comic book store or the book shop, then perhaps comiXology is an app that you’ve heard of and probably used before. For those wondering, comiXology is basically your one-stop-shop when it comes to digital comics. The app has titles from publishers such as Marvel and DC, just to name a few, and also has a ton of smaller and indie comic books as well.

Now according to a recent announcement made by comiXology, it seems that they will be acquired by Amazon going forward. According to the CEO of comiXology, David Steinberger, “ComiXology’s mission is to spread the love of comics and graphic novels in all forms. There is no better home for comiXology than Amazon to see this vision through. Working together, we look to accelerate a new age for comic books and graphic novels.”

At this point in time it is unclear what Amazon’s plans for comiXology are and if they might integrate it into their own ecosystem in the future, but this definitely could prove to be an advantage Amazon could lord over its competitors when it comes to providing even more digital content.

It also seems that it is business as usual for comiXology for now, according to Steinberger who wrote on comiXology’s website, “ComiXology will retain its identity as an Amazon subsidiary and we’re not anywhere near done “taking comics further.” We are confident that – with Amazon by our side, who shares our desire for innovation and a relentless focus on customers – we’ve only just begun.“

Android Now Offers Routine Malware Surveillance For Your Phone

Google’s New Calendar App Gets A Visual Overhaul

Googles New Calendar App Gets A Visual OverhaulFor those who synchronize their Google accounts with their Android phone, this means that not only will you be able to get your emails on your phone, but also your calendar appointments, and any changes made in the calendar app will also affect the web version, assuming you’re synchronized, of course.

Now the calendar app has pretty much kept its look for the past year or so and while it does the job just fine, perhaps it could do with some touching up and that’s apparently what Google had in mind too. This is thanks to a recent series of screenshots obtained by the folks at Geek.com when they managed to get their hands on a device that ran the latest internal build of the calendar app (codenamed Timely).

As you can see in the image above, the visual overhaul is pretty drastic. Google has done away with the grids and instead has opted for a more “flatter” and cleaner minimal look. According to Geek, there are also apparently some visual flourishes that could not be captured in the screenshots, but supposedly they are quite pretty.

For the most part the app appears to run the same, just looking different, but then again how different can you change a calendar app, right? However Google has also added some new features, like a Daily Agenda that will collate a single day’s worth of activities. The app will also show birthdays with the information pulled from your contacts list as well as Google+.

There’s no telling when the new calendar app will launch, but for all we know it could be part of Android 4.4.3 KitKat which is apparently currently being tested. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you welcome the visual changes?

Mobile Gamers Tend To Quit After One Day, According To Study

Mobile Gamers Tend To Quit After One Day, According To StudyA couple of weeks ago we reported on an interesting insight which found that for the most part, many gamers don’t finish the games that they’ve started. Perhaps they got bored, perhaps something new and better came along, who knows? However interestingly it seems that when it comes to mobile games, gamers have even shorter attention spans.

According to app testing firm Swrve, they have spent the past 90 days tracking 10 million players from last year, seeing how they reacted to games released by big name publishers like Activision, Epic Games, Gameloft, and so on. The results are actually pretty amazing because they found that most mobile game players tend to quit the game after only one day.

They also found that by the 30th day, only 5.5% of the gamers of the original gamers are still playing the game. The number of sessions played is also an interesting one as they found that 45% of gamers never had more than 4 sessions of a game, and that 19% only played the game once.

Personally I’ve been guilty of downloading games and trying them out and only to quit a couple of hours later. Usually this is because while the premise of the game is interesting, early parts of the gameplay haven’t been particularly engaging. Then again everyone has different play styles, some love to get as deep into a game as possible, while others just want quick entertainment while waiting for the bus or the train.

What do you guys think of this report? Are you guilty of quitting mobile games shortly after downloading it yourelf?

Mailbox For Android And Mac (Beta) Launched

Mailbox For Android And Mac (Beta) LaunchedIf you’re an iOS user converting to Android, there are probably some iOS-exclusive apps that you might miss, one of them being Mailbox. Well the good news is that if you were wondering when the app would arrive for Android, wonder no more because Mailbox has since launched for Android is available for download for free via Google Play.

The app will function just like its iOS counterpart and for those unfamiliar with the app, Mailbox is essentially another email client that sports a very clean and simple interface. It makes use of gestures, like swiping, to either delete a message, archive it, or set it to snooze to remind you to check up on it later.

The app has also received a new feature called auto-swipe which is basically where the app will learn your preferences and actions and will be able to snooze or archive messages automatically to help you become more efficient at managing your email. Personally I’d rather manage my emails myself but for those who love automation, perhaps this is a feature that might be of interest to you.

This feature will take advantage of Dropbox’s cloud services to help sync your preferences across devices, so if you use Mailbox on other devices like tablets or a second smartphone, you won’t have to teach it all over again.

The developers have also announced that Mailbox will finally be arriving for the Mac albeit in beta form and if you’re interested in participating in the beta, hit up Mailbox’s website for the details.

Facebook To Remove In-App Messaging, Forces Users To Download Messenger App

Facebook To Remove In App Messaging, Forces Users To Download Messenger AppFacebook Messenger, for those unfamiliar, is a separate app that lets you message your friends without actually having to open up the Facebook app itself. However there are times when it gets a little annoying when messages pop up in the Facebook app and on the Messenger app simultaneously, but it seems that Facebook will be putting an end to that.

According to reports, Facebook has confirmed that they will be removing the Messenger feature from its Facebook mobile app, instead if Facebook users want to chat with their friends on mobile, they will have to turn to Facebook Messenger instead. However not all devices will be affected by this, according to Facebook. (more…)
