Google Makes QuickOffice Free For iOS, Android Users

Google unveiled its QuickOffice for iOS and Android devices along with Drive support last year, allowing those on the go to be able to create and edit documents until they’re blue in the face. Unfortunately, QuickOffice comes at a price as Google requires a subscription to its Google Apps services in order to use the application on supporting devices, but that changes today as the company is announcing it’s making QuickOffice available for free. Apple Launches Kids Section In iTunes App Store

Apple Launches Kids Section In iTunes App StoreParents if you’ve always wanted a specific section within the iTunes App Store just for kids so that you won’t have to wade through potentially adult apps before arriving at something kid appropriate, you’re in luck as Apple has finally launched a Kids category within the iTunes App Store. The category was announced back in WWDC 2013 earlier this year, but now parents will be able to access it through the App Store. This section has been designed specifically for children and parents in mind, and will come with certain restrictions that should make it harder for children to accidentally rack up thousands of dollars in in-app purchases.

One of the ways to combat this is to ask for parental permission before children are allowed to engage in commercial activity, such as purchasing in-game items and such. The apps are curated for kids and will be categorized according to what they do, such as “Create & Play”, “Shapes & Colors”, and etc. Developers who create apps for kids also need to adhere to new guidelines which prohibits them from using behavioral advertising, and are required to comply with children privacy statutes in order to collect certain personal information about children, if the app requires it.

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Hey iPhone users, Google Wallet is here! The payments app has finally arrived for iOS devices, bringing with it transfers to friends, loyalty card tracking and nearby offers. Tap-to-pay is notably absent, as iOS devices don’t support NFC, but much of the other Wallet functionality does appear to have made its way to the App Store. As for security, you can keep things locked up using a PIN, and if you lose your phone or tablet, the app can be disabled remotely via Google’s site. Google Wallet for iOS, version 2.0.10206, is available today for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.0 or better.

Facebook Tested Their New iOS 7 Look Right Under Everyone’s Noses

Facebook Tested Their New iOS 7 Look Right Under Everyones NosesWith iOS 7 finally making its way onto iOS devices, there have been a couple of apps that have since updated itself to keep in theme with the new iOS 7 look, and Facebook was one of them. Admittedly for some, the new design of the Facebook app could prove a little jarring, especially with the navigation having been changed, and access to the News Feed, Messages, and Notifications making its way to the bottom of the app instead of the top, but for some, such as myself, this was not a complete surprise as it turns out that my version of Facebook had always been like this, and little did I know it was in preparation for iOS 7. Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Cashes In On GTA 5 Hype

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Cashes In On GTA 5 HypeFor Angry Birds fans, you might have heard that the Angry Birds Star Wars 2 game is set to debut on the 19th of September, and with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 released a couple of days ago, it looks like the folks at Rovio have decided to hop aboard the GTA bandwagon by releasing the image above to help market its upcoming game, while taking advantage of the hype of Grand Theft Auto 5. Granted Rovio probably doesn’t need to hype given that the Angry Birds franchise has to be one of the most successful mobile games of all time, but it’s still pretty clever and admittedly a little funny as well.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 will be the sequel to the original Angry Birds Star Wars and will introduce a couple of new characters, such as Darth Maul, Mace Windu, and a young Anakin Skywalker. No word on pricing yet but we expect Rovio will keep it around the same price that they have been using for previous Angry Birds games. So, who else is looking forward to Angry Birds Star Wars 2? Or do you think that GTA 5 has overshadowed the launch of the upcoming mobile game?

Pocket for iOS 7 offers automatic syncing, hyphens

    Pocket for iOS7

That’s right, the iOS 7 refresh of the save-for-later app formerly known as Read It Later is now available with hyphens. The seemingly miniscule dash addition (which automatically adds hyphens for a more refined justified layout) is part of a redesigned reading experience that also includes automatic syncing. With “Instant Sync,” the company promises that content saved on any device will automatically be pushed to the iOS app, meaning you won’t have to waste precious minutes of your life waiting for that study on the rejuvenating effects of video games to appear. The update also includes full-bleed images, a fullscreen article view and an increased focus on typography and font adjustments. For more, check out the source link below.
