Life-sized Iron Man Armor Balloon Costume: Pop Go the Avengers

This Iron Man balloon armor is perfect. As long as you don’t run into any pin-wielding bad guys or bad guys with flamethrowers. Or if the air pressure around you doesn’t pop your suit. Okay, maybe it’s not that practical, but it is still awesome.

This armor was lung-blown and hand-assembled by balloon artist Jeff Wright. It is made of balloons and nothing but balloons. It took him only about 10 minutes to assemble (though I’m sure it took much longer to plan out.) It’s made from 364 skinny party balloons in all and it can be worn into battle, though I wouldn’t recommend it.

I love how the arc reactor looks too. But why the sad face? Maybe he knows how fragile his armor really is.

ASUS teases upcoming mechanical ROG ‘Armor Keyboard’ for gamers

ASUS ROG announces the Armor Keyboard with mechanical keys for gamers

ASUS’ ROG presentation here at Computex wasn’t all meaty graphic powerhouses — it also displayed a new mechanical keyboard for discerning typists gamers, albeit underneath a piece of black cloth. We were told that the temporarily named “Armor Keyboard” wasn’t quite ready to show off its design just yet, but when it comes out towards the end of Q3 this year it will, surprisingly, boast the title of ASUS’ first in-house-designed mechanical gaming keyboard. As you’d expect, this backlit device will feature “ultra-responsive” mechanical key switches, as well as dedicated media and programmable hot keys located along the periphery. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more information about it later this year, naturally.

Yield to This Traffic Sign Breastplate Armor

Looking like something out of Mad Max or some other post-apocalyptic wasteland, this armor was made from old traffic signs, and ready to slow down – and eventually stop – all who dare come at it.

traffic sign breastplate 1

The breastplate was made by attaching pieces of traffic signs to an old set of football pads, in a pattern that’s based on ancient Roman Lorcia Segmentata armor. Its maker, Ivan Owen of Chain Crafts, cut out 18 pieces of signs, and then hand hammered them into the shapes you see here.

You most definitely won’t want to mess with anyone wearing this – especially if they’re wielding axes, like this guy and girl.

Dovahkiin Full Daedric Armor Costume: FUS-RO-WHOA!

Man, look at that armor. It would take me like 400 hours to find all of that stuff in the game, let alone in real life. Look at those swords. This cosplay rocks the world of Skyrim.

This full Daedric Armor suit was built and is worn by ZERIOS88 who is obviously a wizard at making this stuff. He is a hobbyist who likes to make fantasy video game armor and weapons.

This armor is really beautiful. I might be biased because I played so much Skyrim, but I think you will agree that it is pretty spectacular. And those weapons. This makes me want to play the game all over again.

Halo Fan Made Kat Armor is out of This Reach

The cool and detailed armor of characters from the Halo universe means it’s quite hard to emulate them in cosplay. Unless you happen to be a pale, short-haired 6’7″ 287 lb. male, in which case you can just come as yourself and say you’re John-117. A cosplayer going by the handle LilTyrant decided to dress up as Kat, and that’s exactly what she did.

For reference, IGN’s Halo Wiki has a screenshot of Kat, who as many of you know is from Halo: Reach. Note that LilTyrant’s costume doesn’t have Kat’s helmet cam and tactical case, but she did say she’ll those later on. We’ll cut her some slack because she wanted to finish this by Halloween, she said she’s still “new to armor making” and because the costume is freakin’ awesome.

Unlike most cosplayers I’ve seen, LilTyrant was kind – and obsessed – enough to document practically every step she took to make her armor. She doesn’t just dress as Kat, she’s as smart as Kat. Head to the 405th Infantry Division to see her guide. Microsoft should hire her to make cosplay versions of the Halo 4 armor.

Tooth armor hails from Japan

Not actual teeth armor… ;)

When the word Japan comes into mind, you would think of Godzilla, cosplay, as well as Hello Kitty and Ultraman, not to mention Nintendo if you are an avid gamer. We do know that the Land of the Rising Sun does come out with some rather weird and quirky items every now and then, and here is the tooth armor that is the brainchild of a bunch of Japanese scientists who claim that this tooth armor will help prevent you from being afflicted by the scourge of many a sweet tooth – the dreaded cavities.

Researchers at Kinki University in Japan were successful in developing flexible apatite sheets that measure a mere 0.004 millimeter thick (or should we say, thin?) which are capable of being bonded directly to teeth in order to create a kind of artificial enamel surface. This particular pseudo enamel surface will be able to effectively restore your tooth enamel back to when it was fine and dandy without a care/pain in the world. They are not readily available just yet though, but is tipped to be prepared for cosmetic use in humans within a three year time period. As for dental restoration and treatment purposes, we are staring down at a five year time frame.

The M153 CROWS: Death by Joystick [Monster Machines]

Manning the turret atop an armored vehicle is among the most essential and dangerous assignments in a military convoy. Gunners must stand exposed through a hole in the vehicle’s roof while laying cover and engaging targets. To reduce gunner casualties, the US military designed a Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station, a joystick-driven killing machine called the CROWS. More »

Epic Dragon Slayer’s Armor Would Scare Dragons off Before You Could Slay One

Now I’m not a big cosplayer myself, but I can definitely appreciate quality costumes when I see them – and this one is a doozie. What you’re looking at here is an incredible leather armor getup that’s sure to scare the crap out of anyone who comes your way.

epic dragon slayer 1

The Dragon Slayer’s outfit was designed and created by Nathan Rodriguez of Epic Leather, which wins the “truth in advertising” award for the month for its brand name. All told, the outfit consists of 13 separate pieces, including a two-part mask, custom gauntlets, wrist covers, and awesome shoulder pauldron and a deadly looking vambrace.

The whole kit is available over on Etsy for $3999.99 (USD) – which isn’t cheap, but when you consider the craftsmanship in this outfit, I think it’s worth it. All I know is if I saw someone coming at me wearing this fiery-looking outfit, I’d high-tail it out of the place – even if I were a dragon.

Iron Man 3 Signature Armor: Gold and Gold and Gold and Crimson

Marvel unveiled Tony Stark’s new signature armor for the upcoming movie Iron Man 3 at the San Diego Comic-Con, and it has more gold – caramel? – than crimson. It looks like he’s molting into a golden butterfly. An alcoholic genius billionaire butterfly with jet boots.

Here’s more of the images. I hear they were taken by a new villain, Off-Center Photography Man.
