The things some people can do with a pencil and paper are just ridiculous. The things some people can do with Photoshop or iPad apps is just unreal. Art is amazing! But what might be as impressive as any of that is what this guy did with MS Paint. He created an unbelievably photo realistic picture of Santa Claus with everyone’s favorite stick figure drawing medium.
Can you draw a map of the world just from memory? And if you did, how accurate do you think your map would be? Probably not very. You’d forget some land masses, make things too close too each other, bulge continents the wrong way and hastily add stuff without knowing where they would go. But still. You’d at least get the general shape down, right? Well, here’s what it looks like when people draw a map of the world from memory.
Screens and curtains are alright, but sometimes you want a real wall. Solid, substantial and offering some privacy. And if bricks and cement blocks are too boring, you can always turn to repurposed household items. Right?
Shanghai is, unfortunately, seeing record levels of smog lately, but there’s no sign of dull toxic haze in this neon display by artist Lu Xinjian. "City Light" is a glowing part of I Love Shanghai, an exhibition at the local Art Labor gallery; here, pop stylings and primary colors actually show the real-life urban grid—with a Google Earth by way of Keith Haring vibe.
What were some of the best moments for you in 2013?
For some, it was the N’Sync reunion at the VMAs and the invention of cronuts, which gained traction so fast and quickly became one of the most popular snack-slash-breakfast foods, with people lining up for hours to get a bite of one.
Then there was Ylvis’s crazy popular hit single, The Fox, that came with an equally fun and crazy video to boot. Some of the year’s biggest moments (most of which went viral) are immortalized in clay by Play-Doh for everyone’s amusement. Check out the gallery below for Play-Doh’s 2013 Year in Review.
You can find more fun creations on Play-Doh’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Just don’t try eating the Play-Doh cronut. It’s not nearly as tasty as the real thing.

Remember Guy Laramée, the French artist who sculpts shockingly realistic landscapesout of old books? Well, he’s still at it—and his latest is an ode to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the publishers of which announced last year that they would stop printing the 245-year-old volumes.
Ah, the crackling wood. The dancing flame. You can almost feel the warmth radiating from your screen. On Christmas Eve, here’s a celebration of the yule log film, and a peek at how nine artists reinterpreted the holiday television tradition.
It’s nearly Christmas so everything is beautiful, from the lights decking every inch of your neighborhood to the fact that you’re about to get a little vacation. But we also had plenty of things to show you this week, from our favorite Instagram accounts to a tunnel to the sky in a Manhattan train station, and so much more. Here are our favorite, eye-popping posts from this week:
The relationship might be over. But the memories (or scars) from it will live on. If not in your heart, then in your mind.
I think that can be said in Sebastian Errazuriz’s case, as he drew inspiration from past relationships and ex-lovers for his new series called 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers.
As the title implies, each pair in the collection was inspired by an ex-girlfriend. Her personality, their relationship, and vivid memories are all brought to light and to life with each pair.
From the Rock (which is inspired by what seems to be Sebastian’s most painful relationship) to the Cry Baby, each pair of shoes tells a story. Sebastian is only too happy to fill in the blanks and clue you in on the woman behind the designs with the commentaries that accompany each pair.
12 Shoes for 12 Lovers is currently on display from December 6th, 2013 to January 6th, 2014 at the Melissa Pop-Up shop in Miami.

Hanging ornaments is a silly tradition. We kill a tree, wrap it in lights, then fishhook it with glass balls. But every ornament is more than its glitter and paint. It’s a memory.
