Pinstriping is an old school hot rod style that’s become an art form all its own. At an event hosted by Bell Helmets, we got to watch master striper Skratch crank out eye popping custom-painted motorcycle helmets with nothing more than a brush, a rock-steady hand, and a laser-precise eye.
This ship is a pirate’s conundrum. You can board her and get the booty, but you can’t take the loot without taking apart the ship. It just reminds me of what I could have accomplished had I not wasted so may quarters in the arcade.
This model sailing frigate made entirely out of coins. It is the work of Sergei Nikolayev Knurov, a chef in Ukraine. The 30-pound hull is made of 17,000 coins held together with glue. The sails are even made of paper currency.
Knurov used mostly 2- and 10-kopek coins and 25 5-hryvnia banknotes. He and his wife, Alena, worked on the project together. It took them two to three hours a day for six months, and it cost about 800 hryvnia (~$77 USD) to build. They hope to sell it for about 4,000 hryvnia ($386 USD). That will be a nice profit.
Guys, you guys! It’s finally spring! Or at least it is, technically speaking. You might still be sitting under a massive crap clump of snow, but there’s plenty to ease your mind. A walking city that looks like it came out of the movie Up? Sure. Massive mist cannons in the bowels of NYC keeping the air clean? That works too. Come check ’em out below:
We’ve seen Salvador Dalí himself rendered in Lego before, but that’s not half as hard as trying to build his art out of the magical little bricks. Self-described brick artist Jin Kei did it, though. It’s awesome.
It’s hard to get excited over something as antiquated as a music box when the when the phone in your pocket can play back a symphony. But there’s still something oddly appealing about this twelve-track sequencer that skips the digital samples for a row of random music boxes.

The Battle of Buda in 1686 was a significant victory over the Ottoman Empire, which threatened Europe, Asia, and Africa during the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1896, Gyula Benczúr painted his gorgeous masterpiece titled "The Recapture of Buda Castle in 1686," depicting the final moments of the Holy League victory, after 78 days of siege. Now, you can immerse yourself in its fantastic details, thanks to Ekho, a Hungarian 3D artist, who made a stunning rendering of the painting.
A Slow Day in Afghanistan
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhat do you do when you are deployed in Afghanistan and you have way too much down time? Sounds like a good problem to have in Afghanistan. Well, Redditor b3tarded is there and made the most of his or her downtime by creating a Mario mural. They could have read books, or slept, or got into some trouble. Instead they created a great piece of geek art.
The scene included pipes, bricks and even the timer. They did a pretty good job, given the limited resources on hand. It likely also helped to cheer up a bunch of other soldiers.
You are a true geek sir or madam. Awesome job.

There’s something about looking at these photographs of Australian salt mines that… I don’t know, they’re like a visual chill pill or something. Photographer Emma Phillips snapped these beautiful shots in the Nullarbor Plain of Western Australia, but they look like a landscape from outer space.
People just seem to get a little crazy when it comes to Flappy Bird. Forget about how frustrating the game is. I’m talking about stuff like putting phones with Flappy Bird on eBay that sell for way too much money. Or the fact that somebody was inspired enough to make this or this.
Now some crackpot on eBay is selling this original Flappy Bird drawing for $1,000. I can’t help but wonder if anyone is crazy enough to buy it.
It was hand drawn by the seller, who says that the funds will go to his “collage” education. So you can see that he really does need to attend “collage”. It is Flappy Bird art and it is original. Wanna hang this on your wall for a grand? Didn’t think so.
