If your umbrella succeeds in keeping you dry in the rain and/or shaded from the sun, then everything else is just gravy. Well, it must be raining gravy in Japan ’cause the country’s umbrellas take effective rain & sun protection as their starting point and run with it. Where they end up is anyone’s guess… but be sure to bring your umbrella with, just in case.

Although this ad campaign by Guido Daniele is a few years old, it exemplifies the change in that relationship which has occurred in recent years. Our hyperconnected, light-speed generation, coupled with our throw away culture, might render certain forms of art as nothing more than a disposable tool to sell a product, rather than a lasting statement about the world at the moment of its conception.
