Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Photos Leaked

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Photos LeakedEarlier this year, Huawei announced the Ascend Mate smartphone which is why it does not come as a complete surprise to think that Huawei might be looking to introduce a successor in the form of the Ascend Mate 2, which we have seen in leaked photos and certifications. In any case there is a good chance that Huawei could take advantage of CES 2014 to announce the successor of the Ascend Mate but until then, newly leaked photos of the handset has since made its way online, giving us a better glimpse at the device prior to its officially unveiling. The photos (courtesy of Engadget) shows off various angles of the handset which we have to say doesn’t look particularly flashy, but we guess it should get the job done.

As far as specs are concerned, we have only heard the rumors, but if they are to be believed, the device is rumored to sport a 6.1” display and oddly enough will keep its 1280x720p HD resolution, as opposed to upgrading it to Full HD which seems to be the standard these days. Pretty odd given that 2K phones are starting to make their appearance but we guess this is one way to keep costs down. Other rumored specs include a 1.6GHz quad-core processor of Huawei’s own make, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running the phone.

We expect Huawei will announce the device in its official capacity at CES 2014, so be sure to check back with us then for the details. In the meantime you can check out our review of the original Ascend Mate to get an idea of what to expect.

Purported Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Pictures And Specs Leaked

Huawei is definitely one of the major smartphone vendors in the global smartphone market, the company is quite popular in certain regions even if it has little presence in the West. We’ve seen it unveil quite a few Android devices with respectable specifications, it even had the world’s slimmest Android smartphone at one point in time. It appears that the Chinese manufacturer is working on a successor for the Ascend Mate. Rumor has it that Huawei might unveil Ascend Mate 2 at CES 2014, which seems plausible, given the fact that the original Ascend Mate was also unveiled at CES earlier this year.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is said to have a 1.6GHz quadcore HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor with a Mali-450 GPU. It is expected that the successor might come with a much better display, the Ascend Mate had a 6.1 inch 720p display, its likely that the Mate 2 might tout the full 1080p HD. The device is also said to come with 2GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with version 2.0 of Huawei’s own Emotion UI slapped on top. No word as yet on pricing and availability, though it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if this smartphone never makes it to the West. This is the first major leak we’ve seen about the Ascend Mate 2, if it is definitely going to be unveiled at CES 2014, then its quite possible that there will be more in the coming weeks. Huawei’s Ascend Mate successor said to feature higher-res display, slightly improved internals

We have seen a number of overly large smartphones come and go since Huawei debuted its Ascend Mate, and it would appear that the company is getting ready to introduce a successor soon. According to recent leaks, the Ascend Mate 2, as it’ll presumably be dubbed, will sport a 6.1-inch display similar to its predecessor but with a higher resolution — namely, 1080p. Internally, Huawei News reports that the next Ascend Mate is set to feature a 1.6GHz, quad-core Kirin910 chip alongside 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and Android 4.2.2 (with Emotion UI, of course). Obviously, we won’t know the definite specs until the day the device is official, so don’t make any final judgements just yet. For now, treat yourself to some additional leaked pictures at the source link below.
