Ubisoft Removes Online System Pass From Assassin’s Creed 4, Future Games

Ubisoft Removes Online System Pass From Assassins Creed 4, Future Games

There’s no denying gamers have been looking forward to the release of Ubisoft’s next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga with Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag for quite some time, and the game released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U just this past week. PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC owners will have to wait just a bit longer for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to hit their gaming platform of choice. Thankfully, all versions of Assassin’s Creed 4 will no longer require Ubisoft’s online pass system, called Uplay Passport, which would allow any and all players to gain full access to the game.

In the past, online pass systems withheld certain parts of a game in order to make sure those who payed for a used copy of the game would pay extra in order to access those portions. Ubisoft used its Uplay Passport system to restrict access to parts of Assassin’s Creed 4′s single-player campaign, which caused quite a stir in the gaming community. Thankfully, with this week’s move to remove its Uplay Passport system from Assassin’s Creed 4, players can now journey through the world, as well as it’s multiplayer mode, without needing to enter an online pass code.

Hopefully this move will cause other publishers to do the same thing for their respective titles as a world without online pass systems is a world we’re sure all gamers would want to live in.

No Assassin’s Creed 4 DLC For The Wii U

No Assassins Creed 4 DLC For The Wii UWhile there have been several developers and publishers who have chosen to skip the Wii U, there are some who still support Nintendo’s latest console, albeit not in its fullest. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 4 is available for the Nintendo Wii U, but it seems that if you were looking forward to getting your hands on some Assassin’s Creed 4 DLCs for your Wii U, you’d be out of luck. The folks at Gamereactor have spoke to Ubisoft who has confirmed that the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed 4 will not be getting the upcoming DLC that will introduce a new single-player story, a Kraken Ship Pack, along with new multiplayer characters.

It is unclear if it is only this DLC that will be skipping the Wii U, or if all future Assassin’s Creed 4 DLCs will skip the Wii U, but either way we’re sure Wii U games cannot be pleased by this. We’re hoping that this will not become a common occurrence for Wii U games. After all Batman: Arkham Origins for the Wii U will not come with a multiplayer mode and will actually be priced cheaper to make up for it, and while it might not matter to gamers who just want to play the storyline, having features left out deliberately is not a good feeling. Wii U gamers what do you guys think? Will you be passing up on certain games just because they lack features that other consoles are getting?

Ubisoft has finally delivered the games first official gameplay trailer, and as you would expect, it looks pretty awesome.

The gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4 follows Captain Edward Kenway, who is the assassin / pirate you’ll be playing as in this title. In addition to the already expected maneuvering through the world at a freerunner’s pace as well as taking down enemies with a stab here and a pistol shot there, Assassin’s Creed 4 will include underwater explorations which include some impressive visuals.
