Assassin’s Creed 4 Parkour Video Is Massively Entertaining

In the past we have seen several Assassin’s Creed-related fanmade videos where trained parkour athletes have performed some pretty impressive moves that captures the essence of the game. Well with Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag having been announced, guess we’re not surprised that a new video has been posted, this time featuring the assassin from the game doing some pretty impressive moves in real life. This video shoot took place during the recent Comic-Con in San Diego which we guess is as good a time as any to cosplay as one of your favorite video game or comic book characters. (more…)

Custom PlayStation 3s for Sony’s Friends: It Only Does Sweet Casemods

The very talented case modder Javier Riquelme customized several PlayStation 3 consoles for Sony, who in turn gave them as gifts to its partner developers and publishers. With the exception of what seems to be Javier’s trademark flourish, each console looks radically different and suited to its theme. This dude is for real.

As I said, each casemod is unique; if someone told me that the Borderlands-themed PS3 was made by someone from Gearbox Software while the Metal Gear Rising one was made by a cyborg ninja from Kojima’s lair I would have believed that. But Javier does like adding thick letters with LEDs that contrast nicely with the rest of the sweet art on the surface of the console.

playstation 3 casemod 6 grand theft auto v by jriquelme 300x250

All of these look awesome, but I want to shake Javier’s hand just for the Assassin’s Creed casemod. I don’t even like that franchise and I want the console. You can see more shots of Javier’s work on his Imgur gallery, on his Twitter page and on his Facebook page.

Assassin’s Creed IV Hidden Blade Replica for Sneaky Pirates

Ahoy assassin! If you thought the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Hidden Blade Replica was too flamboyant, perhaps the blade’s updated version will be more to your liking. Made by McFarlane Toys, this life-size replica forgoes the shiny PVC vambrace for a simpler one made of leather. I meant leathARRRR.

As with the previous replica, you don’t have to worry about being hurt or hurting someone with the blade because it’s made of soft plastic. Todd McFarlane himself told Kotaku, “When you press the spring it actually shoots out, like a blade should. There’s a snap to it. Then you get to the end and realize you can curl the tip on it, so it’s not going to do any real damage.”

Set sail for Gamestop to pre-order the Assassin’s Creed IV Hidden Blade Replica for $40(USD). It is a rare piece of treasure, for it is one of the few remaining reminders of what an assassin used to be. Nowadays, I wouldn’t be surprised if Edward Kenway will end up having a hidden ship cannon gauntlet and neon-colored clothes.

Ubisoft Defends Yearly Assassin’s Creed Release, Claims Franchise Still Has A Long Way To Go

Ubisoft Defends Yearly Assassins Creed Release, Claims Franchise Still Has A Long Way To GoAs gamers probably know by now, Ubisoft appears to be taking a yearly release cycle for their Assassin’s Creed franchise. While this is no doubt great news for fans of the game, we guess there are some who are wondering if by releasing games on a yearly basis could lead to franchise fatigue, and possibly dilute the brand. Speaking to the folks at The Official Xbox Magazine, Ubisoft’s creative director, Jean Guesdon was quoted as saying that the franchise still has a long way to go, and that the developers still have a ton of fresh and different ideas to keep the game interesting.

I think we have proven that this franchise is relevant, and that it has a long way to go. Our job as developers of this new opus is to surprise players and bringing fresh, different ideas, while at the same time ensuring that what makes AC such a standout franchise remains intact.

[…]

With the scale and scope of the world we are building, the completely new setting, the new gameplay mechanics, and our new characters (both our hero and his supporting cast), we are definitely on track to get the job done and avoid fatigue altogether.

While Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag has yet to be released, meaning we’re not sure just how well it plays yet, do you think Ubisoft is getting a bit ahead of themselves? What do you guys think of a yearly Assassin’s Creed release? Yay or nay?

Assassin’s Creed 3: The Redemption Released On PS3, Xbox 360, PC

Assassin’s Creed fans are probably already looking forward to the next Assassin’s Creed game, but Ubisoft is reminding its fans there’s still additional content to be had with Assassin’s Creed 3. The first episode of the Tyranny of King Washington was released on February 19, with the second episode, The Betrayal, released on March 19. The third and final chapter of Assassin’s Creed 3′s Tyranny of King Washington has officially been released today and marks the end of this new piece of downloadable content.

We won’t ruin the story in the final episode of The Tyranny of George Washington, but just know King George Washington is on the retreat and its up to Ratonhnhaké:ton to prepare for an assault against the mad king and his fortress. This final episode will also introduce the Power of the Bear, which will allow Ratonhnhaké:ton to perform strikes to the ground that will cause surrounding enemies to either be hurled into the air or crushed into the ground.
