Asus Qube Release Date AnnouncedThe Asus Qube was spotted at CES earlier this year, and it has certainly been a long wait so much so that one can safely venture to say that most folks have forgotten that there is an Asus Qube in existence. Well, CES 2013 saw a late Q1 release date for the Asus Qube being quoted, and since we are running headlong into the middle of April now, it goes to show that there is still no Qube in sight, raising the level of impatience among Qube watchers.

Good to know that Asus has done their bit to soothe jagged nerves by revealing to GTV Source that the Asus Qube will be debuting officially this coming April 23rd. Just what does the Asus Qube pack underneath the hood? Well, it will feature GTV V3 and boasts of all the new accompanying features, in addition to letting users experience Asus’ very own custom user interface that is very different from what most folks are used to. The Asus Qube will retail for $129 and has the flexibility of letting you use a third-party launcher should you want to end up with a more simple experience.

Qube2s Asus Qube With Google TV [CES 2013] I know that the Asus Qube and Google’s Nexus Q do not have much in common with one another in terms of functionality, where the former will shack up with Google TV, but I suppose it is the naming convention that makes me think that there is some sort of mystical link between them. Anyways, without much further ado, here are more details on the Asus Qube that you might just be interested in.

The Asus Qube will instantly add Google TV to your HDTV, where you will also be able to enjoy not only motion control but voice search as well which integrates Google Play, Chrome, and YouTube (among others, I am sure) in a single, compact device. You are able to access more than 100,000 movies and TV shows from Netflix and Amazon Instant Video, apart from enjoying an every growing number of apps, videos and games from Google Play. In a nutshell, Asus has positioned the Qube with Google TV to be the ideal media content device.

Asus also had a hand with the special Qube interface, where it will display functions through a rotating on-screen cube shape, making me hark back to the interface of Vicki in I, Robot. Sporting an advanced remote control that supports motion sensing for gaming and other applications, you can also rely on your Android-powered smartphone to control Qube. Asus will also throw in 50GB of WebStorage cloud space with every purchase of Qube with Google TV, now how about that for a deal sweetener?
