ASUS Transformer AiO Merges Desktop And Tablet

transformerAIO ASUS Transformer AiO Merges Desktop And Tablet[CES 2013] It does seem to be all about convergence devices these days, and Asus follows suit with their Asus Transformer AiO, a particularly weird device in a sense where it will merge the functionality of a desktop PC and that of a tablet – seamlessly switching between the two, while boasting of dual operating systems so that users are able to choose on whether they want to run Windows 8 or Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, depending on the situation that they are in at the moment.

Basically, the Asus Transformer AiO will feature Windows 8 while sporting an extended 18.4”, 10-point touch LED-backlit IPS display, running on a third generation Intel Core processor technology, coming in a compact, versatile design with height and tilt adjustments. Apart from that, it will also boast of Asus SonicMaster technology that delivers crystal-clear sound through its integrated speakers.

Thanks to its 18.4-inch Full HD display that is easily removed from its base station in order for it to end up as a wireless display, it will go some way in extending the range of your machine, while working around the home. Of course, toting a 18.4” “tablet” around is not exactly the stuff that most folks would want to considering the bulk and weight, but that’s the price to pay for flexibility, so to speak. Thanks to the NVIDIA Tegra quad-core processor, it is sufficient to see the removable display function as an Android tablet.

Asus Taichi Ultrabook Sports Dual Screens

TAICHI31 09a Asus Taichi Ultrabook Sports Dual Screens[CES 2013] Something tells me that Asus is taking a very “Zen” approach to the naming convention of their mobile devices in the coming future, where the past has seen the Zenbook released, and this time around, it would be the Asus Taichi Ultrabook that delivers a dual display setup for the Ultrabook (something of a novelty, I might add) in addition to it functioning as a Multi-Touch tablet when the situation calls for it.

Basically, the slim and stylish Asus Taichi, whether it comes as the 11.6” model or the 13.3” model, it does not matter, will feature a brilliant double-sided LED-backlit IPS/FHD display. Sporting touchscreen functionality on the outside of the lid, the Asus Taichi will be able to open up to a whole host of new mobile possibilities, functioning as either an Ultrabook or a tablet, depending on the situation.

Hardware specifications include a 3rd generation Intel Core processor underneath the hood, speedy SSD storage and dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, accompanied by a QWERTY backlit keyboard and a trackpad. Not only that, both displays will work independently of each other, meaning they can be used simultaneously – talk about sharing the workload with two users on a single device! Hopefully the battery life and processing power of the Asus Taichi is able to keep up…

Asus’s Qube for Google TV Might Finally Make Google TV Worth Using

Google’s Nexus Q was supposed to be the thing that legitimized Google TV, taking it from comical TV feature to a fluid addition to Google’s services. Instead, it flopped, then never even came out. So Asus decided to make its own streaming box. More »

ASUS Qube announced at CES: Google TV arrives with on-screen cube interface

ASUS Qube announced at CES Google TV arrives with onscreen cube interface

While the FCC may have already punctured ASUS’ surprise, at least the company’s now made it official. ASUS‘ first Google TV device is coming and will arrive with 50GB of WebStorage cloud space and access to over 100,000 movies and TV shows through Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. It’ll arrive with its own “Qube interface,” unsurprisingly featuring a three-dimensional tetrahedron that rotates for access to your content. There’s also motion-sensing remote control support for gaming and other apps, while anyone with an Android phone will be able to download ASUS’ Mobile Remote app and steer from there. No word yet on pricing or a launch date — ASUS won’t be hosting a press event this week, but we’ll be pounding the CES floors for more details.

ASUS outs VivoTab Smart Tablet with Type Cover-esque keyboard cover

Asus VivoTab Smart Tablet

The ASUS line of Vivo devices is growing today with another Windows 8 tablet, the ASUS VivoTab Smart Tablet. The Smart Tablet packs an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor, powering the same 10.1-inch, 1366 x 768 resolution IPS display found in its brethren. And that 10.1-inch screen can handle five of your fingers tapping all over it all at once, should you need to. Protecting that screen is a brand new “TransSleeve” keyboard, which does triple duty as a cover, keyboard and stand, “all rolled into one.” It’s quite like the Microsoft Surface Type Cover, albeit with full-on physical keys and a touchpad for mousing around. An 8-megapixel camera sits out back while a 2-megapixel faces the user, and there’s NFC functionality built in as well. ASUS isn’t giving out a price or release window for the VivoTab Smart just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the newest Vivo entry on the show floor as CES 2013 kicks off this week.

Google TV Plans To Make A Big Return At CES With More Partners

[CES 2013] It looks like LG won’t be the only television manufacturer showing off its Google TV devices at CES next week as Google announced a number of other partners will be showing their own Google TV-powered devices.

Google announced Asus, Hisense, TCL and other manufacturers, including Sony and Vizio, will be showing off new and updated products that will be showcasing their support for the Google TV platform. The products will range from set-top boxes, integrated TVs and IPTV boxes from a total of 9 partners.

This past November, Google launched an update to its Google TV platform that added Voice Search as well as a new PrimeTime application, which will hopefully enough of an improvement over the previous Google TV platform to make the new products being showcased at CES next week worth your while. If not, then there’s always other similar platforms like Roku that can be plugged in and out of TVs without requiring you to purchase an entirely new TV set.

ASUS and others to show off new Google TV devices at CES 2013

Google may not have had the 2012 they wanted with their Google TV platform, but it looks like they’re going to start things off right in 2013, with a slew of new Google TV devices being unveiled at CES 2013 next week. ASUS, as well as Hisense and TCL, all three of which will be new to the platform, but companies like LG, Vizio, and Sony will also be showing new devices next week as well.

Google-TV

In a blog post on the official Google TV blog, the company announced that a handful of companies will be showing off new Google TV devices, including ASUS, who are new to the platform. Google says these companies “will show off the newest Google TV platform,” including “set-top boxes, integrated TVs, and IPTV boxes.”

Of course, the most notable company in the mix is ASUS, who is already rumored to release the Qube, which made its way through the FCC back in November. The Qube may also be part of Google’s Nexus lineup, which would make it the flagship Google TV device. It certainly wouldn’t be surprising, since ASUS is the company behind Google’s ever-popular Nexus 7 tablet.

As far as new partners, Google says it has nine partners in total for the TV software, with the major holdouts being Samsung (which has previously announced Google TV products, but haven’t yet released anything) and Panasonic. Of course, we’ll be there at CES 2013 all next week to bring you the latest coverage.
