Transformer Pad TF300TL launched by Asus

LTE-equipped tablets have been around for a while. The feature of 4G connectivity is kind of becoming inevitable for the current crop of tablets, given the consumer’s needs to engage with high-speed connectivity and the consequent high demand for it.

Asus hasn’t been much behind and has now launched its own quad-core LTE equipped tablet, Transformer Pad TF300TL. Given the fact that the specifications of TF300TL are more or less the same as the Asus Transformer Pad TF300, we can safely say that the new slate is essentially a 4G-LTE version of the latter. We recommended TF300 for those looking to do some serious computing and would suggest the same about TF300TL.

The tablet packs Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor and a 12-core GeForce GPU rendering it a fairly handful power-punch. The display, which is a 10.1″ WXGA, can seamlessly play full 1080p full HD video while Asus promises a great gaming experience on the tablet. (more…)

Asus Transformer Pad Prime (TF201) receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, Transformer Pad Infinity update delayed

Yesterday, we talked about how the Asus Transformer Pad Prime and Transformer Pad Infinity devices were in line for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update within the next 72 hours. One thing’s for sure though, Transformer Pad Prime (also known as model TF201) owners have already started to receive their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, while leaving Asus Transformer Pad Infinity owners in the dark. Asus did mention on their website that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Transformer Pad Infinity has been delayed, and there has been no further information on the release date just yet. I guess there would be still at least 48 hours left in the time window left, so being patient would be the best course of action at this point in time for Transformer Pad Infinity owners. We do look forward to hearing from those of you who have already installed the “smooth as butter” Jelly Bean update, has your tablet experience been enhanced?

ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 gets Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update

ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 gets Jelly Bean update, lets owners enjoy Android's finest

The folks from ASUS gave North American Transformer Pad Prime and Infinity owners a tease yesterday, telling them that the TF201 and TF700 models would receive an update to Android 4.1 within the next three days. Today, the Tawianese firm’s made good on half its promise, delivering Jelly Bean to the Prime OTA. We confirmed that the update is rolling out, as our in-house TF201 has, indeed, been upgraded to version 4.1.1. Alas, Infinity owners are still sans their software goodies, but ASUS still has plenty of time left in that 72 hour window.

[Thanks, Anthony]

Nexus 7 comes to South Korea, causes price envy across the water

Google Nexus 7 comes to Korea

If Google-lovin’ Koreans were a little jealous after seeing Eric Schmidt turn up in Japan with a Nexus 7-shaped gift under his arm, they needn’t be. It looks like the Executive Chairman brought another one along with him on his Asian travels. It wasn’t just the hardware that came along for the ride either, with The Next Web reporting that the firm also made movies available in the countries edition of Google Play. The Korean asking price will be a reported KRW 299,000 (about $267) for the 16GB edition, a smidgen less than its neighbor’s (¥19,800 / $312). We suspect, though, not quite enough to warrant a ferry ride.

Asus teases Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Transformer Prime and Infinity

When it comes to the Android operating system, many people do talk about the issue of fragmentation. While it is not that serious, it is still a problem that should be addressed by Google as well as the slew of hardware manufacturers who release products that run on Android. Well, Asus has their fair share of Android-powered devices, where they have just teased the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to arrive on the Transformer Prime as well as Infinity in a matter of 3 days.

That would translate to approximately 72 hours of patient waiting, so owners of the Transformer Pad Prime TF201 (otherwise known as the Eee Pad Transformer Prime) and the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 might want to grab some popcorn and enjoy the waiting period. All good things come to those who wait, after all, so if you have waited this long, what is a few more hours between good friends, right? Better late than never should be taken as a consolation this time around. [Facebook Page]

ASUS teases Jelly Bean update coming to Transformer Pad Prime and Infinity within 72 hours

ASUS teases Jelly Bean update coming to Transformer Pad Prime and Infinity 'soon'

Oh, ASUS. While it was so forthcoming with an update to Jelly Bean for the Transformer Pad TF300, it has been shy about upgrading the tablet’s higher-end cousins. The company must be coming out of its shell: it just posted a teaser for Jelly Bean updates coming to the Transformer Pad Prime TF201 (formerly the Eee Pad Transformer Prime) and the flagship Transformer Pad Infinity TF700. ASUS was initially hesitant to say more than that it would come “soon,” but Technical Marketing Manager Gary Key has stepped in to confirm that North America will get the update within a surprisingly quick 72 hours. The only glaring omission is a matching refresh for the original Eee Pad Transformer to give veteran owners a little TLC.

Nexus 7 arrives in Japan, better late than never

Nexus 7 arrives in Japan, better late than never

Well, it took a while, but Google has finally launched the Nexus 7 in Japan. The tablet made its state-side debut in July, but it took almost three months for it to cross the Pacific and land in the east Asian nation. Pricing is a little higher than what we’ve seen everywhere else, with the 16GB model selling for ¥19,800, or about $312. It makes a perfect companion for the recently updated Play Books app that also just made its debut in the Land of the Rising Sun.
