Bang & Olufsen built-in sound system – BeoLab 15, BeoLab 16

B O Beolab 15 16 640 Bang & Olufsen built in sound system BeoLab 15, BeoLab 16[CES 2013] When it comes to consumer electronics craftsmanship, Bang & Olufsen is synonymous with haute couture, in the sense that the Danish company  makes a point to design devices that look like pieces of art. That is why the first time I looked at the Beolab 15 / Beolab 16 built-in sound system in the product picture provided by the manufacturer, I had to ask confirmation of which objects were part of it (see above, the 3 circles in the photo).

The new sound system is comprised of a pair of two-way active speakers (BeoLab 15), an active subwoofer (BeoLab 16) and a rack-ready amplifier (Amplifier 1), all designed for in-wall or in-ceiling placement.
Beolab 15 features a new tilt function that allows the listeners to place middle tones where they want them to be. When the device is turned on, it tilts out to pre-sets angles and  it tilts back as soon as it is turned off.

Turtle Beach Launches Multiple Cross-Platform Gaming Headsets

xp510B Turtle Beach Launches Multiple Cross Platform Gaming Headsets

[CES 2013] Gaming after-hours is an absolute must if you’re an adult with a 9-5 job, a wife and maybe children as the only downtime you probably have is when everyone is asleep. The last thing you want to do is wake everyone up from their slumber with, what you consider to be, your sweet sounds of gaming bliss. Turtle Beach is one of the leaders in the gaming-headset market, and at this year’s CES, they announced a number of cross-platform headsets that you’re going to want to start saving now for.

The first sets of gaming headsets they’re announcing are the next generation of their wireless headset line. The Ear Force XP510 for Xbox 360 and Ear Force XP51 for PS3 include Turtle Beach’s proprietary digital signal processor, Dolby Digital surround sound, Dual Band Wi-Fi, a rechargeable lithium polymer battery and are Bluetooth compatible. With a full charge, both headsets have a 15 hour lifespan, which is a nice amount of time just to get into Skyrim. Both the XP510 and PX51 will be available in Q1 2013 for $289.99 and $269.99, respectively.

Cricket’s Muve Music Has Over 1.1 Million Subscribers

cricket muve Crickets Muve Music Has Over 1.1 Million SubscribersAt the close of 2012, Cricket was rather proud to claim that their Muve Music service has garnered more than 1.1 million subscribers. This does not sound like much when you consider other music subscription models that are in the market, but you will need to take into consideration the relatively small size of Cricket in comparison to the other movers and shakers. Still, since its commercial launch in January 2011, Muve Music is said to have been one of the fastest-growing and leading on-demand digital music services in the US, now how about that?

This “achievement” was also made possible thanks to Cricket including Muve Music in every Cricket Android smartphone rate plan, resulting in a differentiating product that keeps consumers interested and happy. I guess when you target the masses with the lowest common denominator while keeping prices low enough to carve a smile on any face, you have more or less got yourself a winner there. Not only that, Muve Music is also said to deliver a high engagement service at lower cost and lower bandwidth compared to alternative streaming music services, which is good news for those who are interested.

Klipsch details Stadium and KMC3 wireless speakers, hopes to be at the Center of your listening experience

Klipsch details KMC3 and Stadium wireles speakers, hopes to be at the Center of your listening experience

Sound and time: two things that fly by pretty fast — and many an Engadget editor have been known to make time zip by faster with Klipsch headphones. While the company showed us its latest ear-gear in the fall of 2011, it’s kicking off 2013 at CES with a focus on speakers. It was a year ago when we checked out a mockup of Klipsch’s Stadium AirPlay speaker, and it’s finally poised to hit shelves in the coming months. Part of its Music Center lineup, the visually striking, wireless 2.1 system (pictured right) hasn’t changed aesthetically, but the company does have more to share when it comes to specs and availability. In addition to AirPlay, it’s now loaded with DLNA and Bluetooth, with compatibility for aptX. The Stadium is loaded with a duo of 5.25-inch subwoofers, a pair of three-inch woofers for mids and a pair of 1-inch “horn-loaded” tweeters to handle the highs. Now word on price just yet, but north of $1,500 (yes, you read right, audiophiles) wouldn’t be a bad guess when it arrives this summer.

For those looking solely for Bluetooth connectivity in a semi-portable package, Klipsch’s KMC3 (pictured left) might be the ticket. This 130-watt system features a 5.25-inch subwoofer and a pair of two-inch full-range drivers. Naturally, an 3.5mm input lets you plug your devices in the old fashioned way, while on integrated USB port can be used for charging your devices. Sadly, there’s also no word on price for the KMC3, but it should arrive a bit sooner in the spring. Klipsch says it has more planned for the Music Center this year as well, so we’ll keep you posted when we hear more. More details in the press release after the break.
