V-MODA announces XS cans that deliver fashion and performance in a single package

V-MODA-XS-CoverIt is a pity if hardware manufacturers were to introduce their devices to the masses by concentrating solely on function instead of paying an equal amount of attention to form. Thankfully, the folks over at V-MODA do not think along these lines, and their latest XS headphones are touted to deliver both fashion and performance in a single package. This reflects V-MODA’s commitment to fashion-forward wearable technology, where it merges professional-grade quality and a personalized style.

One must say that the angles and sleek headband design found on the XS “mind the gap” as it minimizes the unsightly space that normally appears between the headband and your head. The end result? We are looking at not only a superior fit, but also added comfort, grander sound and a compact profile. It has taken more than 5 years of R&D to arrive at this particular design which should see it pass through any wind-tunnel tests with flying colors, too.

With the XS headphones from V-MODA, you are able to enjoy long listening sessions in comfort, thanks to supple memory foam cushions which will naturally adapt to your ears for faster “burn-in” and better noise isolation. The XS model happens to be one of the smallest in its category, and this is also due to its patent-pending CliqFold Hinge which will precisely fold the headphones into an impossibly small exoskeleton case. The headphones and case are so tiny that many users in focus groups after giving it a go, decided to ditch their usual in-ear headphones.

Features include patent pending 40mm Dual-Diaphragm Drivers without the need for any batteries or artificial sound processing, Dual Inputs and SharePlay with V-CORK seals (patent-pending), a Kevlar-reinforced universal SpeakEasy microphone cable for Apple iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows devices, as well as a 2-year premier warranty, lifetime 50% immortal life program and V-MODA Six Star Service. You can choose from Matte Black Metal or White Silver colors at $212 a pop.

WaterField Designs introduces CitySlicker Mini Jambox speaker case

cityslickerI know that something as precious as a brand new flagship smartphone or a new tablet for your portable computing needs definitely require a protective case of some sort. You know, just in case you happen to be absent minded at that point in time and bump your iPad against the corner of the desk, or heaven forbid, your sweaty palms actually give way to the smooth back of your smartphone as it adheres to the gravitational pull of the earth and plunges to the floor. How about speakers? Do speakers actually need a case of some sort, or do you simply stuff it into a bag after wrapping it with a T-shirt? WaterField Designs feels strongly about speakers getting their fair amount of protection, which is why the CitySlicker Mini Jambox speaker case was birthed.

Having the relevant experience as an innovative manufacturer of custom laptop sleeves, and designer bags and cases for digital gear, their latest foray would be the CitySlicker Mini Jambox speaker case. The CitySlicker will carry the Jawbone Mini Jambox around alongside its fair share of cables, all within a sturdy, pocket-sized case. It is made out of durable black ballistic nylon, comes in sumptuous distressed leather and shock-absorbing padding, ensuring that it is a home that flatters Yves Behar’s latest Jambox design.

The CitySlicker’s interior would boast of a custom-sized, soft, padded liner which will offer a cushion for the Mini Jambox. There is also a stretchable, semi-opaque back pocket that will hold the connector cable and charger, alongside a self-locking zipper to make sure that they remain in place as you travel in a neat manner. The CitySlicker’s ballistic nylon exterior would also offer exterior protection for the Mini Jambox, especially against accidental scuffs, all the while ensuring that the speaker remains looking as good as new. Right at the bottom of the case, there is also an ingeniously-placed loop so that users can easily slide the Mini Jambox out of its cushioned cocoon.

The flap itself is made out of premium, naturally-tanned, distressed leather, where it can snap into place to create a handsome look that exudes style. The asking price for the CitySlicker Mini Jambox Case stands at $49 a pop if you are interested as shipping commences from April 2nd onward.

JVC takes the waterproof route with new Everio camcorders

JVC GZ-R10BJust like smartphones, camcorders, too, do end up in situations where you wished that you were able to put over a plastic bag during wet situations so that your camcorder does not end up as another drowned casualty by the river or at the swimming pool. Waterproof smartphones have started to pop up in aesthetically pleasing formats recently, and here we are with JVC having worked on a trio of rugged, weather-proof Everio models that will allow you to capture your precious memories regardless of the weather condition, all the while boasting of an internal, long-life battery of up to 4.5 hours on a single charge.

The three JVC Everio camcorders in question would be the GZ-R70, GZ-R30 and GZ-R10, where they all would boast of JVC’s Quad-Proof structure, namely water resistance to a depth of 5 meters/16.4 feet, the ability to withstand a drop from 1.5 meters/4.9 feet, as well as dust-proof and freeze-proof down to –10˚C/14˚F. Despite such impressive credentials, they all arrive packaged in a familiar camcorder form factor that should not make it strange or difficult to operate. Apart from that, they also float just in case you happen to have lost your grip while recording, now how about that?

This new range of camcorders also offer a combination of performance capabilities and innovative features for those who want to take their videos to go beyond what a smartphone or other camcorders are able to deliver. Apart from their weather- and shock-proof attributes, JVC’s new Everio camcorders will also boast of a 40x optical zoom, 2.5 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, audio which can zooms with the picture, as well as compatibility with third-party editing software, where among them include iMovie and Final Cut Pro X.

The Everio GZ-R70 will retail for $499.95 a pop, as it arrives with 32GB of internal memory, while the $449.95 Everio GZ-R30 has 8GB of internal memory, with the $399.95 GZ-R10 arriving with just a memory card slot (the other two has memory card slots as well). Any takers?

Energy H3 MP3 headphones offer greater level of freedom

energysistemAre all headphones created equal? I would not like to think of it that way, and I am quite sure that Energy Sistem thinks along the same line, too. Their latest product is known as the Energy H3 MP3 headphones , where it basically allows you to enjoy your music wherever and whenever you are. This allows you to tune in to music without any limits, while (fingers crossed) setting the trend that for what could be an original headphone design to go along with your style as well as personality.

There will be two original models that will make up the new Energy H3 MP3 headphones, where they are known as Jamaica and Catrina. Hmmm, I am not too sure about the choice of name for the latter, considering how the hurricane Katrina (I know, it is a different spelling, but still!) has wrought plenty of devastation in the US before. Regardless, they will arrive with a built-in microSD/SDHC memory card reader that will allow you to tune in on your favorite songs of choice without having to be at the mercy of the local radio DJ.

This means you no longer need to tote around a separate MP3 player to listen to the songs of your choice, since the Energy H3 MP3 headphones is more than capable of handling a microSD memory card of up to 32GB in size, which should be more than enough storage space to stash away a variety of MP3 and WMA files, and then some. Of course, another major advantage that one reaps from using the Energy H3 MP3 headphones would be the fact that you no longer need to deal with annoying and pesky cables that tend to get in your way when you’re not looking.

Of course, just in case you get bored with your personal collection of music, you can still tune in to your favorite radio stations, keeping up to date with everything that is happening around courtesy of the digital FM radio function. A full charge of its lithium battery will deliver up to 8 hours of non-stop playback.

USB Lantern MP3 Player will let you dance the night away

2 color USB lantern mp3 player
Light and sound are largely important in our day-to-day happenings. We use illumination and sound to act as the indicator to the beginning of the day. If there is an apparent lack of one, the other, or both, we can start to feel uneasy. Perhaps that’s why we’re always so interested in new types of stereo systems, or ways to light up our surroundings.

If you are constantly in the pursuit of a new way to add light to your life and make sure that you’re not only hearing white noise, then the USB Lantern MP3 Player will be an excellent addition to your collection. It has a fake tea candle inside of a lantern shape that will act as your source of light. This can put out an orange or white light as you see fit for your situation.

This can read a microSD card, and USB drive directly, or can connect with most devices through a 3.5mm audio plug. This has a built-in rechargeable battery which makes it portable, but it doesn’t state the amount of time it will last on one charge. There are buttons on the front which will allow you to adjust volume, skip through songs, and more. Should you be interested in this music and light source, it will cost you around $35. It would be perfect for aesthetics, and if nothing else would be a great speaker for your phone.

Atmos subwoofer might be small but packs a mean punch

atmosThey say never to judge a book by its cover, and neither can one tell how much fight there is in a dog. Having said that, the same wisdom, too, ought to apply to subwoofers where a home theater setup is concerned, since they arrive in all sizes, shapes and colors. The folks over at Sunfire have managed to come up with one particular subwoofer to rule them all, so to speak, where it is known as the Atmos. It is an unprecedented moment as there has never been a 1400-Watt subwoofer before that sports a footprint which is smaller than an Xbox 360. This makes it the first time where homeowners and apartment dwellers alike are able to revel in the loudest of the lows as well as enjoy true reproduction of Hollywood explosions, pounding bass lines and kick drum thumps with zero distortion and without sacrificing precious floor space.

The Sunfire Atmos might have a sticker price tag of $2,000 a pop which would make this a rather expensive purchase by most accounts, but you can be more or less sure that this is the only subwoofer in town which will be able to fit into literally any room and deliver the volume output and theater-quality bass that is normally found in subwoofers that are more than double its the size, and with that, twice the price. That alone ought to make for a pretty compelling argument for its purchase, don’t you think so?

The Atmos’ design will boast of dual custom-designed 6.5” woofers in a sealed, extruded aluminum enclosure which measures just slightly more than 8” in height. Despite that, it tips the scales at a hefty 40 pounds, being testament to the build of the sub that makes use of the best magnets and metals. The drivers themselves are capable of massive excursion (movement) of up to 1.8”, allowing the Atmos to deliver extraordinarily refined yet dynamic bass. A seventh generation cool-running 1400W amplifier that features Sunfire’s exclusive Tracking Downconverter technology offers the voltage and current required to create the driving force that will meet this new standard. All in all, the Atmos subwoofer seems to be worth every single penny that you fork out for it.

Pono Music puts the soul back to your tunes

Pono
Listening to music can improve your day, make you nostalgic, inspire you, and much more. However, the quality of the sound when a musician is in the recording booth is lost somewhat in the transition to MP3 or onto a CD. While making a single song takes a lot of effort, you can imagine how infuriating it would be for the artists when every subtle nuance or echo wasn’t properly heard because of poor resolution. How much more would a song affect you if you could hear the whole thing as it was intended?

While you could listen to records, you can’t exactly take that with you from place to place very easily. The PonoPlayer was developed to bridge this gap, and return your music to what it was supposed to be. It corresponds with an app called PonoMusic, that you don’t necessarily have to purchase music from. The big difference being that these music files (FLAC to be specific) have about six times more musical information than a typical MP3.

These are very easy to navigate with a touchscreen, as well as power, and volume buttons. There are two output jacks. One is for headphones, and the other will let you connect this to a stereo in your home or car. It can’t be connected to your phone so there will be no interruptions to your music unless you want there to be. It is a bit chunky in build, but that’s so it can stand on its own or sit flat on any surface. This will cost you around $300, which is much cheaper than the $399 retail price it will hit once it’s no longer in a crowdfunding phase.
