Satechi AirBass Active Bluetooth Speakers offers crystal clear audio without breaking the bank

satechi-airbassPortable speakers are dime a dozen these days, and it remains to be seen just which particular model would be able to suit your lifestyle as well as your budget. Satechi has something new for us this coming holiday season with the Satechi AirBass Active Bluetooth speakers which are already available to be purchased (and that means, wrapped and to be placed under the Christmas tree, of course!). These speakers have been touted to be the ideal audio solution which delivers crystal clear audio at home or the office. Being compact in size, they should be able to fit into any home nicely, coming in a sleek, glossy black or white finish without having to take up too much space at home.

Just what kind of features will the AirBass Active Bluetooth Speakers come? It will feature Acoustic AirBass technology that is capable of producing deep bass and dynamic mids and highs for room-filling, crisp sound. If that is not enough bass yourself, you will be able to hook up a subwoofer in order to enhance the sound. The speakers would be ideal for all of your entertainment needs, ranging from watching movies or streaming music to enhancing audio on laptops or desktop computers. Apart from that, you can also opt to stream wirelessly from any Bluetooth-enabled device, or to use the auxiliary output for a direct connection to any device.

The Satechi AirBass Active Bluetooth speakers will also come with a 5V, 1 amp USB port which will be useful whenever you need to power up your power hungry smartphone. Right now, you might want to catch the Satechi AirBass Active Bluetooth Speakers early in the game at a promotional introductory price of $99.99 a pop. Any takers out there? I would personally go for the black color since it would not show up the dirt too fast.

iRecorder, the portable iPhone speaker that looks like a retro cassette player

irecorderThere are some moments in life where the old and the new meet, and retro is always in vogue – it is just a matter of which particular era that should take centrestage at that point in time. Well, the $39.99 iRecorder would be an interesting play of bridging both the old and the new, as it looks like one of those Retro Cassette Players, except that in reality, it carries a very different function – by being a portable speaker for the iPhone.

The iRecorder would play nice with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, anything older than the iPhone 4 would not work. Oh yeah, and one more thing – no longer do you need to keep a pencil around the house handy, as the iRecorder will not eat your tape. Those who grew up in the era where cassette tapes were the most popular choice for listening to music would be able to identify with me. The iRecorder would run on a trio of AA batteries, and connects to your iPhone via the standard issue 3.5mm plug. One thing that bugs me though, the gaudy color in which it comes in does not really appeal to my taste, how about you?

The Soundpad from Atoll improves upon a great idea

Soundpad
Being able to hear our music and television programs is rather important to us. Using your tablet as your main entertainment hub is good and well, but you’re likely going to want better speakers than what came standard on your device. Of course, this is merely one more gizmo to bring around with you. Wouldn’t it be nice if all our essential gadgets had every feature we wanted and came in a compact package?

If you have an iPad, chances are you’ve fallen prey to the smart cover. They’re clever and useful, but they don’t even really protect your whole tablet. Should it happen to have a premium Bluetooth loudspeaker system in it, then it might be a more valid option. The SoundPad for iPad is just that, with 4 built-in speakers that will give you wireless sound that won’t be an extra burden to carry around.

It still works as a magnetic screen protector just as the smart cover did, with the same functions of putting your iPad on standby or waking it up when you cover or uncover it. These are available for Air, the classic iPad, and the Mini. You can choose from white, black, green, blue, or red, and they will cost you $129 (the price doesn’t change depending on what kind of iPad it is for). Seeing that the speakers will be facing you, the sound will obviously be greatly improved already, but they’re making it sound as if the speakers will do the lows and highs justice. However, that remains to be seen.

Available for purchase on Atoll, found via Gizmodiva

Polk announces N1 sound bar and Melee gaming headset

n1-surroundbarFor folks who have not heard about Polk before, well, here we are with a short note on them. Polk happens to be a high-performance audio brand that comes with 40 years of sound, engineering and design expertise, and they have recently announced that they will be making available a couple of products available to the masses. First of all would be the Melee gaming headset that was specially developed for the Xbox 360 console, while there is also the Polk N1 sound bar that delivers an immersive soundstage for gaming as well as entertainment regardless of the gaming platform, with the new Xbox One included. I guess the Xbox 360 still has some life left in its legs despite all of the recent buzz that surrounded next generation game consoles.

Why would we recommend either one of these to those who game on Microsoft’s consoles? Well, that is because Polk has also extended its partnership with Microsoft all the way until the end of next year, which would result in additional opportunities for product development in the gaming category, while Polk’s sound engineers continue to work with Microsoft’s 343 and Turn 10 Studios to deliver better quality audio in their titles.

The Melee gaming headset will boast of Polk’s proprietary electronic and acoustic tuning in addition to a DSP Amplifier, ensuring that your ears are treated to a richer, fuller listening experience. Accompanied by a retractable near-field microphone, users are able to carry out chats with one another, as well as to take calls. It will tuck itself smoothly into the ear cup whenever it is not in use. Other than that, Polk’s thumb-reach Audio Mixer would also enable users to adjust listening modes, audio and chat levels, all without the need to remove their hands from the controller.

As for the N1 sound bar, it has been licensed by Microsoft and designed for the newest Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. You will be treated to an upscale design which complements the console’s slimmer form factor, while the sound bar leverages Dolby Digital and a quartet of immersion modes which will enable gamers to achieve a balance between unique listening scenarios in addition to music, ambient details, special effects and dialogue.

The Polk Melee and N1 sound bar will retail for $199.95 and $299.95, respectively.
