Looking to revise the whys, hows and who’s who of the Marvel universe? Well, the movie-spinning comic book company wants to help you out, offering hundreds of first issue editions across the company’s entire history. The free digital editions will cover perennial favorites like Spider-Man, the X-Men and Avengers, as well as slightly less mainstream hits and spin-offs. The promotion kicked off yesterday and — tying in with the company’s presence at SXSW — will run until 11PM ET on Tuesday. The titles can be downloaded through either Marvel’s official comics app or its web-based digital comics shop, although it appears US readers are having more luck downloading the digital comics — we’re getting error messages when trying to access it elsewhere. Of course, if you’ve already signed up to Marvel’s Unlimited subscription service, there might not much here to pull you in, but this limited-time offer is unashamedly courting new readers and comic dabblers. If that sounds like you, start hunting down those hundreds of freebies at the source.

We all have our favorite Avengers. Personally, I’ve always liked Iron Man and Thor the best, but after Mark Ruffalo’s take on the green guy this past summer, I’m beginning to like the Hulk again too. Well regardless of which Avenger is your favorite, we can all agree that owls are pretty awesome creatures. So what could be better than Avengers owls?

Artist Morgan Chambers makes cool stuffed owls based on pop culture figures, among them The Avengers. These 7-inch-tall plush superheroes are handmade using eco-felt, and ready to take on all villains who dare to come their way. Okay, so them may not have any actual superpowers, but they will kill them with cuteness – one of the most dastardly weapons known to villainkind.

Oh, and if you’re feeing villainous, you can always go for the Loki owl.

For $35(USD) you can get a single plush owl, or for $95, you can pick your favorite three , and Morgan will make them for you. Since they are handmade, you’ll have to wait about a week per plush for them to be made, but the end result will be worth it. Just tell those supervillains they have to wait.

The god of thunder is always up for a drink, so he’s offered up his hammer to anyone who wants to get hammered. Unlike the mythical crusher, you only need a modicum of strength to lift this Mjölnir.

Note that the lead picture on Fancy – shown below – is misleading, as it’s entirely different from the one that’s actually being sold. Thanks to Redditor bobdobbsjr’s sleuthing, we can assume that the bottle opener shown below appears to be a custom job – or at least a Photoshopped image – by Anthony Petrie, who appears to have modded a toy replica of Mjölnir.

The custom hammer is clearly better, but as far as I know it’s not for sale.

Perhaps only Anthony is worthy of wielding his bottle opener. The rest of us can order the smaller Mjölnir bottle opener from ThinkGeek for $18 (USD). Then get this whiskey if you want to go the extra mile.

The Avengers was certainly one of the summer blockbusters to beat, and while it will not win any Oscars for its story, the entire movie made the comic book characters come alive. If you want to relive the magic of The Avengers in the comfort of your own home, you might want to be part of history in the making by placing a pre-order on Amazon. In fact, The Avengers is now Amazon’s biggest pre-ordered movie to date, when you combine both physical and digital formats, pushing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 down by a notch. The Avengers is available on Amazon Instant Video for all Amazon customers who can instantly stream the movie on their Kindle Fire devices, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iPad and compatible connected Blu-ray players.

If there is a chance for this particular record to be broken, then it would take a lone ranger to do so instead of it being a team effort. I am referring to Bruce Wayne, another billionaire philanthropist genius who is not quite on the same level of Tony Stark in terms of his ladies’ collection, but when night falls and his beloved Gotham City is at peril, he will don his cape to terrorize enemies as Batman. Will The Dark Knight Rises’ Blu-ray and DVD release be able to knock the Avengers off their lofty pedestal? Only time will tell.

In Soviet Russia, you carry the Helicarrier. But that’s all right, because just like the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s flying fortress, this small remote-controlled replica made by a Russian RC enthusiast can also float and take to the sky.

The replica was made by RC Design forum member native18, the same guy who made the DeLorean quadrotor. Strangely enough, native18 also pointed out a very similar toy that was shown off at an RC airplane show way last February, except this one is literally an (RC) aircraft carrier:
