iBag Seals Shut, Sends Alert When You’re on the Brink of Overspending

If you’re in danger of overspending every time you reach for your wallet, then the iBag might just be the thing you need. It’s an interactive wallet of sorts that seals itself shut in order to prevent its owner from spending money on non-essential stuff.

Smart Purse 620x414magnify

The iBag is dubbed as a “smart purse” that comes built with an Arduino processor and a real-time clock. The clock comes into factor as the bag uses that as the basis for sealing shut: at times when the shopper has been deemed to overspend, the bag can no longer be opened.

Finder.com.au’s iBag prototype has been designed to physically deter shoppers from accessing their wallets. The purse is also equipped with a GPS chip and LED lights that flash when a shopper gets too close to his or her favourite shops, or, as the company puts it: ‘when you’re entering a danger spending zone.’

RFID modules on the bag detect whenever the wallet leaves the purse, and a GSM module alerts someone about the shopper’s overspending habits (or tendency) as it happens.

You can find more information about the iBag here.

Star Trek Communicator Dog Bag Dispenser: Poop, The Final Frontier

Dogs. They poop. Like all the time. They are basically poop machines on four legs. You can either be rude and never pick it up, or you can be prepared and carry bags with you when you walk the dog. This Star Trek communicator dog bag dispenser is the geekiest way to carry poop bags with you.

It measures 4 1/2-inches long and has a bone-shaped plastic clip for leash attachment and a rubberized molded zipper pull with the phrase, “To boldly go…,” a pad printed Star Trek logo on the back, and raised plastic buttons.

Carry it with you everywhere and clean up after your pet. Kirk to Enterprise. Poop to Beam up!

It’s just $19.99(USD) from Entertainment Earth, and will be available in November. Goes perfect with the transporter dog bed.

The Ol’ Drawstring Backpack Gets Reinvented

Drawstring backpacks are often lightweight, so they’re not a pain to carry around. They’re also easy to put away when you’re done using them, since all you have to do is fold it up and tuck it in your closet.

The big annoyance with these bags, though, is how the shoulder loops eventually lose their symmetry, putting more weight on one shoulder compared to the other.  People who use drawstring backpacks can relate. If they use lopsided packs often enough, they’ll eventually begin to feel the discomfort physically, too.

Good thing the guys at mochibags decided to rethink this basic bag. The redesign makes sure that the “shoulder loops stay even and balanced.” Its makers are so confident in their redesigned product, that they add the guarantee that this is for “forever.”

So what makes this drawstring backpack different from the typical one? Well, for starters, it has “channel anchored” drawstrings which stay put and stay balanced. The channels also make it easy to open and close the bag. It also sports thick cords and no visible knots to make it feel more comfortable on your shoulders.

The mochibag Drawstring Backpack is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $25(USD) will get you one of your very own.

Das Keyboard delivers Radio Frequency Blocking Bags

prism-matrixWe all do value our privacy these days, but then again, there are moments when our privacy gets invaded – through no fault of our own, but rather, because the technology is there, and so is the know how, and more importantly, the malicious intent that lies behind it. Das Keyboard knows what a predicament it can be should your personal information get stolen, which is why they have come up with the innovative Das Keyboard HackShield Backpack as well as Messenger Bags that will feature RF (Radio Frequency) blocking technology and anti-theft access security in order to help safeguard your electronic devices and personal data within.

You might think at first, what is a company like Das Keyboard, who is better off making its high-performance mechanical keyboards so that ordinary folk like you and I are able to type faster while increasing our respective productivity levels, doing with man bags? I suppose we have no complaints after hearing out that they are branching into a totally new product category by rolling out its highly secure, radio frequency blocking bags. These will be known as the Das Keyboard HackShield bags, being the company’s one-of-a-kind backpack and messenger bags which will empower professionals who are always moving around and living out of a suitcase to enjoy an unprecedented level of protection against physical and digital intrusion.

In Das Keyboard’s quest to come up with what they call the perfect backpack, the end result is one which will offer better protection for an individual’s electronic devices against physical theft, in addition to delivering a new layer of security against illegitimate location tracking and digital pick-pockets who roam for meta data and other private information. The HackShield backpack and messenger bags will not have any exterior pockets for pick-pockets to have a field day with, and even the main compartment for each bag will come protected with Fidlock fasteners for anti-theft access security. Apart from that, the internal pockets have been specially lined with HackShield RF blocking material that will function as a “dead zone” around electronic devices so that it can prevent potential hacking attempts.

The Das Keyboard HackShield backpack and messenger bags will be available at $179 a pop.

Bombata Bags for Tablets/Laptops: Lug Around Your Machines in Style

Laptop briefcases and sleeves tend to blend together after a while, because most of them look the same and are pretty boring. That’s one of the reasons why an Italian designer decided to come up with something with a bit more flair.

Bombata bags are supposed to marry technical expertise with fashion sensibilities. Unlike most laptop bags, they’re not bulky, and some function like sleeves, so they can be used inside larger bags to keep your electronics safe.

Bombata bags are made from durable vinyl, and offered in a number of different colors and sizes. They start with the tablet-friendly Micro Bombata and go up all the way to the Chubby Bombata, which can hold much more than just a laptop. Prices start at about $45(USD) and go up to about $110.

Airbus Bag2Go smart luggage wields GPS, RFID to skip airport hassles

Airbus Bag2Go smart luggage can check itself in, skip baggage claim video

Many of us avoid flying with checked baggage when possible, and for good reason: even a simple delay can sour a whole trip. Airbus’ new Bag2Go prototype could save us from having to pack light, however. The smart luggage carries a raft of sensors that work with an iOS app to bypass the usual airport drudgery. Its RFID chip lets travelers check in their bag and link it to every step of their itinerary; in theory, couriers can ship baggage to the hotel at a lower cost than usual. Bag2Go should also provide some reassurance through GPS tracking and alerts to any possible tampering. Airbus is still early into development, but it foresees a business model where customers can either buy a Bag2Go suitcase at a premium or rent one for a long vacation. As for us? We’ll just be happy if our luggage avoids an unexpected detour to Belize.

Giant Office Binder Clip Purse Looks Like It Should Hold a Very Thick Stack of Papers

Clips. They’re used to hold stuff together, from hair to paper and other stuff in between. Binder clips are most common in an office setting, holding stacks of documents in order so they don’t get mixed up when they’re moved from one department to another.

I might be biased, but I look at women the same way. Often, they can serve as the ‘clip’ of a family or a community, even though they might just be acting on the background. Aptly getting that point across is this giant binder clip purse by designer Peter Bristol.

Binder Clip Bag

Unfortunately, regular folks like you and me can’t get one of these bags yet, because they’re currently not being produced commercially. Peter explains that he’s considering the possibility of mass producing the bags, although nothing’s been set in stone yet.

Just to make things clear, the giant binder is only a purse. It doesn’t function as an actual giant binder clip, in case you were already thinking of holding together 1,000 pages of loose paper.

Legend of Zelda Hylian Shield Backpack: Schoolward Shield

Just as the Hylian Shield – in its many incarnations – has protected Link from countless projectiles and attacks, so will this backpack protect your books, Nintendo handhelds and any stray rupees you find.

Etsy seller Ivana Roso aka pepolina said she sewed the individual parts by hand, then put the backpack together using a sewing machine. She didn’t say what materials she used, although looking at it I think it’s made of synthetic leather.
