Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Makes Its Way Onto Android

Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition Makes Its Way Onto AndroidBaldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been an iOS exclusive for a while although this wasn’t by design, but rather because its developers had not gotten around to creating an Android version yet, although it was on their list of things to do.

Well the good news for Android gamers is that the wait is over because if you have had your eye on Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, it is now officially available for purchase and download via the Google Play Store.

Given that this is a PC game that has been reworked to fit our mobile devices, it is not surprising that the game is priced a lot more than your average mobile game and will set gamers back $9.99. It’s a small price to pay, especially if you used to play the game back in the day and wouldn’t mind reliving the experience on your mobile device.

For those unfamiliar with the Enhanced Edition, it’s basically the first Baldur’s Gate title that has been remade for modern gaming. The graphics have been updated slightly and there have also been additional characters, items, quests, and areas that have been added to the game, just in case you were hoping for additional content beyond what you have played back in the good old days.

This is the first title and we expect that Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will see a release on Android as well down the road, although at this point in time we’re not sure when that might be.

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Arrives On The iPad

Baldurs Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Arrives On The iPadA couple of years ago, Beamdog announced that they would be reviving the Baldur’s Gate franchise through “Enhanced Editions” of the game and its expansions. This basically meant that the developers would be updating the graphics while maintaining the tone and feel, while adding new characters and new quest lines, so that players who have gone through Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 will have some fresh material to play with. Well the good news is that if you’re already gone through Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, you might be pleased to learn that Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition has officially been released for the iPad!

The first Baldur’s Gate was released for the iPad awhile back to relatively positive reviews, so we expect that the second should fair relatively well as well. Just like the first game, Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will include features such as multiplayer mode, enhanced graphics, and various improvements spread throughout the game, as well as new quests and characters that players can interact with along the way. Priced at $14.99, it is more expensive than your typical iOS RPG, but if you grew up playing the game on the PC, you know that it will probably be worth it. For more information or to purchase the game, head on over to the iTunes App Store.

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Pegged For 15th November Release

Old school RPG gamers might remember the Baldur’s Gate title, and while we doubt we will ever see Baldur’s Gate 3, the good news is that there are the enhanced editions of the game that have been released by Beamdog. The first enhanced edition was released for computers and tablets awhile back, but the good news is that if you were looking forward to play Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition, you’re in luck because the game has finally gotten a firm release date which has been pegged for the 15th of November.

The game was previously up for pre-order but Beamdog did not state a release date and simply said it would be “coming soon”. Unfortunately the 15th of November date appears to be limited to PC and Macs, and the tablet release date has yet to be officially announced, but hopefully it will not be too far behind. The Enhanced Edition of the game will feature updated graphics, additional characters and quests just to name a few. Beamdog did run into some legal trouble that had some worried that game would not see a release, but thankfully that’s over and we’re still keeping our fingers crossed for Baldur’s Gate 3!

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Now Up For Pre-Order

Baldurs Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Now Up For Pre OrderGood news RPG fans, if you were looking forward to getting your hands on Beamdog’s upcoming remake of Baldur’s Gate 2, you’re in luck as pre-orders of the game have begun. The game appears to be scheduled for a 15th of November release as previously reported, and this is in spite of work on the game temporarily being halted due to legal issues which saw the temporary removal of the game from the iTunes and Mac App Stores. Unfortunately no word on when Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will be making its way onto iOS and Android devices, but Beamdog did state that it would be coming “soon”. The game will be playable on both the Mac and the PC and will set gamers back $24.95.

For those unfamiliar, the Baldur’s Gate franchise is a pretty old one and dates back more than a decade ago. The franchise was recently revived by the folks at Beamdog which saw the graphics updated slightly, as well as additional quests and characters and storylines added to the game, giving both new and old players something different. The game has also managed to work its way onto tablets, allowing players to take the game with them on the go. Beamdog has also stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 could be developed in the future which we’re sure many Baldur’s Gate fans are pleased to hear about.

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Back On Track, New Gameplay Trailer Released

Gamers, if you have enjoyed BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate franchise, you might have heard that Beamdog has decided to rejuvenate the franchise with their “Enhanced Edition” copies. If you’ve already gone through the first title, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, you might be pleased that despite Beamdog running into some legal issues and being forced to remove the game from their respective App Stores, Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is back on track and is currently up for pre-purchase via Beamdog’s website for $24.95 for the PC/Mac version.

The game is expected to see a release on the 15th of November and a new gameplay trailer has since been released (video above). The game, similar to its predecessor, will feature updated graphics and will also introduce new quests. Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will also see the addition of four new characters and their respective quests, although for those planning on playing the game on their iPad or Android tablet will need to download those characters as a paid DLC. However because of this, Beamdog will charge iPad/Android users less due to the additional fees that will have to pay.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Makes Its Way Back To The iTunes App Store

Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition Makes Its Way Back To The iTunes App StoreBack in June, Beamdog’s Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was pulled from the iTunes App Store due to legal trouble, leaving some questioning the future of the franchise. Well the good news is that after two months of legal tussle, the game has made its way back into the iTunes App Store and this was announced by the game’s producer, Phillip Daigle, who also confirmed that the patch for the game along with Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will be released “in a while” as the company gets back to its feet and gets the ball rolling once again.

For those unfamiliar, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is basically Beamdog’s revisit of the original game, adding improved graphics, gameplay, characters, and more. The Enhanced Edition also sees the arrival of the game on mobile devices like Apple’s iPad where iPad owners can purchase the game for themselves for $9.99. Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will be the first of at least two games, with Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition currently being worked on. Could we be seeing a Baldur’s Gate 3? Beamdog has expressed their interest in the idea but that we guess we’ll have to wait for Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition to be released first.

Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition For Android Needs Your InputOverhaul Games is certainly doing a great service for the gaming community, especially when they are working to port Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for folks who tend to game on the Android-powered platform. The thing is, one of the weaknesses (which in some strange way, is also a strength) of the Android platform would be its diversity, considering how there are so many different versions as well as models of Android devices in the market, leaving Overhaul Games wondering just where they should prioritize their development efforts at.

This requires a clarion call to the gaming community, and Overhaul Games is interested to hear your feedback on just which Android device would most probably be use to enjoy Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. According to Trent Oster, Creative Director on Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, “The team is working hard to bring one of the greatest role-playing games of all time, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, to Android devices. However, we’re a small team and need to make sure we focus our efforts on the devices our players are actually using.”

Which tablet do you think will be on pole position to provide the optimal Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition experience?
