Batbane: If Batman and Bane Had a Baby

You find the strangest stuff over on Etsy sometimes. Like this mask which envisions a hybrid between Batman and Bane. The artist who made it likes to call it “Batbane.” I just like to call it straight-up weird.

Grab the Batbane mask for about $163(USD) from Ministry of Masks if you’d like to be the biggest freak in town.

The Kia Optima Batmobile: Batman’s Spare Car

Kia Motors, DC Entertainment, and RIDES Magazine unveiled their first of 8 Justice League-inspired Kias at the recent 2012 New York Comic Con. The launch was part of DC’s “We Can Be Heroes” campaign, which helps fight famine in Africa.

This Batman-inspired Optima was on display at New York’s Time Warner Center and is the beginning of a 10-month partnership based on the characters that make up the Justice League. They hope to raise awareness of the charity campaign, which Batman would certainly approve of.

I’m not sure that Batman would ever buy a Kia, but I love what they have done with this car. It certainly looks great with the whole Batman theme – especially that grill.

What If Batman Used Apple Maps? [Video]

Here’s an Apple Maps parody that’s absolutely hilarious: what if Batman used Apple Maps in The Dark Knight to find Rachel Dawes? Yeah, that wouldn’t have been good. Siri would have sent Batman down wrong turns, parking lots and malls just to see everything get blown up. More »

LEGO Batcave: Where the Block Knight Returns

We’ve already seen a LEGO version of Batman’s base. But while that one opted for a vertical build, Carlyle Livingston II and Wayne Hussey chose to make their Batcave sprawl lengthwise. It’s crammed with wonderful details just waiting to be discovered.

According to The Brothers Brick, the diorama is made of over 20,000 parts and weighs over 100lbs. Some of its parts – such as the Batmobile’s turntable and the costume wall – are moved by motors to evoke Batman’s cutting edge technology. Then there’s the excellent lighting that sets the gloomy mood. It took Livingston and Hussey a total of 800 hours over 12 weeks to finish the Batcave.

The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray trailer appears, confirms December 3rd release date

The Dark Knight Rises Bluray trailer appears, confirms December 3rd release date

Good for over $1 billion at the box office, Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie is probably this year’s most anticipated home video release (The Avengers next week may have something to say about that) and now Warner Bros. has given us a trailer for The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray. Previous movies in the series have always delivered on Blu-ray, as well as his other recent hit, Inception. Unfortunately the video maxes out at 480p, but we don’t need any additional resolution to see the release date listed for both disc and digital download is December 3rd. Rumors have flown about different releases dates and possible extras like a director’s cut, but recently sources have indicated no such extended offering is in the works. Whether you think the flick was long enough (or even too long), you can press play to check out the clip embedded after the break…and clear the first Monday in December on your calendar for a trilogy viewing marathon.

Tiny Knit Superheroes Hit Etsy So Your Dolls Can Pretend to Be Villains

When I think of superheroes, I usually envision large, hulking men or women in tights, capable of taking down the most evil of supervillains. They usually don’t conjure up images of tiny, cuddly knits which are small enough for the cat to swallow.

But the textile artists of Sweden’s Crivens Studio clearly have the latter in their minds. They handmake and sell these miniscule superheroes which measure just about  1″ tall each. Each tiny hero is knit from yarn and the is small enough to let your dolls play with them – assuming you still play with dolls – and your dolls still play with dolls too.

They’re currently available for $25(USD) each in Batman, Superman and Iron Man versions, and if you’re more into zombies than superheroes, there’s a couple of those for sale too.
