Bane Walkie-Talkies: Breaker 1-9, Got Your Mask on?

The Dark Knight Rises wasn’t my favorite in the Nolan Batman series, but I still thought Bane was pretty bad-ass – even if it did sound like he was talking with marbles in his mouth most of the time. That scene when he blows up the football stadium is a classic, IMHO. Now, if you want to announce your evil plans just like Bane, you can, thanks to these new voice-changing Bane walkie-talkies.

You and your friend can each strap on the Bane masks, and a special voice-changer circuit will make you sound just like the Dark Knight’s hulking, if inarticulate nemesis. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to understand each other, but I suppose that’s part of the fun.

I have to say, Bane doesn’t look so tough when he only comes up to your navel. No word yet on pricing for the Bane walkie-talkies, but our pals over at ThinkGeek are hiding more details over in their bat-filled secret lair.

UPDATE: Happy April Fool’s Day!

A Batman Coffee Table Bruce Wayne Wish He Had

Because we all dreamed about being Bruce Wayne once upon a time (or to this day), here’s something you can get that he could never: a batman logo coffee table. Made by Charles Lushear of the Bohemian Workshop, the coffee table is carved from wood with hairpin legs and is a must for any comic book geek still living with his parents or someone who has a really understanding girlfriend (or boyfriend). Batman Backpack: in Case Utility Belts Are Not Your Thing

UD Replicas is known for its geeky leather motorcycle suits, with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy being the company’s favorite source of inspiration. Aside from a series of suits and a utility belt, the company is also offering an officially licensed replica of Batman’s backpack.

batman backpack by udreplicasThe backpack made its first appearance in Batman Begins. You can kind of see it at around 20 seconds into the video below. Apparently Bats also wore it in The Dark Knight Rises, but I can’t remember the scene where it supposedly appeared.

The backpack is made of “form molded leather over motorcycle grade body armor.” It looks expensive, it sounds expensive and it is expensive. At least it’s practical, with enough room to carry 4 500ml bottles of water. That’s spacious enough for a mask and a cape.

I wonder if it still looks bad ass without the motorcycle suit. You can pre-order the backpack from UD Replicas for $298 (CAD) (~$291 USD).

Be the Biggest Badass On the School Bus With This Batpack

A company called UD Replicas—known for making bike leathers based off movie costumes—has brought to life one of Batman’s more obscure accessories from the recent Christian Bale films. First seen in The Dark Knight while Batman stands atop a skyscraper in Hong Kong, Batman’s backpack can now be yours for about $300. More »

The Dark Knight Melts: 6-Foot-Tall Snow Batman

Illinois State University must be like a prison. Why do I say that? Because Illinois State University junior Anthony LaGiglia carved this impressive batman snow sculpture with only a plastic knife from the dining area. I imagine that he secreted away the knife and fashioned into a shiv in his cell. I mean dorm room. Then snuck off and carved this thing in the night when no one was looking.

That’s a very Joker move by the way Anthony. And I think it is awesome. See, Anthony is an art major. Obviously he is obsessed with Batman. This 6-foot-tall snow sculpture was carved on February 27 and the man worked for 6 hours. At night. In the freezing cold. With just a plastic knife.

It’s like Mr. Freeze has won. Why Anthony? Why?

Crocheted Bane Mask: You Have My Permission to Hug Me

Pretend like you’re Gotham’s reckoning – whatever the hell that means – without the discomfort or drunk Sean Connery voice that goes along with it with this awesome crocheted Bane mask made by Etsy crafter Rose Pope.

Rose makes each mask by hand using nothing but acrylic wool and a few wooden sticks to make the piping stable. If you look closely at the picture above you can see that there’s a gap in the mask to help the wearer breathe.

Rose is selling the crocheted Bane mask on her Etsy shop Stitch Finder General for about $93 (USD). However, if you want to order one don’t click on the “Add to cart” button; Rose says she’s struggling to cope with the demand for her creation – the League of Shadows probably placed a bulk order – so you have to contact her to place your order.

A Man Dressed As Batman Brought a Suspect into Custody

Unlike the fat fake Batman who always gets arrested, this vigilante is actually good at his job. Police in the UK say that a man dressed as Batman recently handed over a wanted man to police. After the suspect was in custody, the Batman disappeared. More »

Batmobile Monster Truck: The Dark Knight Crushes

Check out this Batmobile monster truck. It chases and then crushes any villain’s vehicle in it’s path. All I can say is I’m glad that Christopher Nolan was in control of the recent Batman movies. Otherwise we could have ended up with this ridiculous beast in one of those movies.

Next Batman: Arkham Game Expected For 2013 Release

We think it’s safe to say the majority of gamers enjoyed both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, which is why any mention of another sequel is sure to set the Internet ablaze with rumors and speculation on what the next game could be.

During Warner’s investors call last week, Time Warner CFO John K. Martin said briefly mentioned the next Batman title by saying, “And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise.” Martin goes on to say “we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013,” which leads us to believe the next Batman Arkham game to release this year.
