This Chair Has Plenty of Balls

You can be a romantic by wanting to lay yourself down on a bed of roses, but I’d rather be comfortable and lie down on a bed of foam balls instead. Not just regular foam balls because they’ll clearly roll all over the place, leaving you to lie on nothing but the hard floor.

Rather, I mean the Feel Seating System Deluxe. While it can be used in the home, it’s also office chair, but it looks far from being a chair – and for the office, at that.

The entire thing is comprised of 120 fabric-covered balls that are linked together with elastic strands. You’re not limited to just having a chair with the Feel Seating System, since the buckles on the edges let the user reconfigure the shape. Push and move the balls around to come up with a recliner, or flatten it some more to make a cushy bed.

The Feel Seating System Deluxe costs $7,950(USD). It’s steep, I know, but where else can you find an office chair that’s as comfortable, versatile (and productivity eliminating) as this? Fortunately, there are smaller, significantly less expensive versions for kids and smaller adults.

Abri-Boca Living Pod Gives You Your Own Little Space in a Bigger Place

If you live with other people, then you know how difficult it is to get some privacy sometimes. People barging in your room, people barging into you while you’re in the shower (hopefully, unintentionally), and people walking past you every other minute while you’re in the den.

The good news is that you can get a little bit of privacy – even just a little – by getting furniture like the Abri-Boca Living Pod.

Abri Boca Living Pod

You can’t exactly live in it, but you will be able to do stuff like take naps, read, or work on your laptop in relative peace. It provides you with an extra dome-like barrier that should tell people that you want them to leave you alone when it’s up. And when you’re ready to join the rest of the world again, just push the dome down and carry on.

The Abri-Boca Living Pod was designed by Philipp Sussmann. It was recently on display at the ‘Meet My Project‘ exhibition during Milan design week.

TARDIS Bunk Bed: Time and Relative Dimension in Sleep

If you want to have some proper time-traveling adventures in your dreams, it helps to have a Doctor Who themed bed – like this bunk bed that looks like the TARDIS.

tardis bedWhy? Because like the Doctor said, “Bunk beds are cool. A bed. With a ladder. You can’t beat that.” I think we would all agree. I love how it says Geronimo on the ladder as well. Any kid would love to lay in this bed and dream of fighting off Daleks and Cybermen, while pretending that their bed is an actual TARDIS.

Whoever the kid is who gets to sleep in this bed, I’m jealous. I would definitely get more rest if I slept in one.

Keyboard Sofa Bed: My Type of Furniture

How often do you end up falling asleep on your keyboard? Hopefully not very often. It’s pretty uncomfortable and can make your cheek look like a grid of squares. The folks at ZO-loft (which also happens to be the name of an antidepressant) designed this sofa bed to make the whole process a bit more comfortable.

Besides, why rest your face on a keyboard when you can rest your whole body on one? This stylish piece of QWERTY furniture looks awesome and transforms from a sofa to a bed. It even has adjustable keys. All you need to do is pop up the D key, stretch out and relax.

Too bad it doesn’t actually type out your sleeping patterns as you toss and turn, but it is still pretty amazing.

AT-AT Bunk Bed

I know, I know, some of us are still pretty upset that Disney has bought over Lucasfilm, and along with it, the crown jewel that is the eternal cash cow known as the Star Wars franchise. Will we see Mickey Mouse cross over into the Star Wars universe sometime down in Episode 7? I do not think so, but who knows what the future might bring in the realm of cartoons? After all, Space Jam saw the amalgamation of Michael Jordan and the rest of the Looney Tunes cast, didn’t it? This unique AT-AT bunk bed is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a huge fan of the Star Wars universe.

There is a flight of stairs that leads up to the AT-AT, while it would be ideal to place a couch or sofa under the AT-AT bunk bed, complete with a bookshelf attached to the wall so that you are able to catch up on your Star Wars fan fiction before retiring for the night. Good thing this AT-AT bunk bed is stationary, otherwise a wayward A-Wing might just wrap its legs around with an extremely tough wire, tripping you up. Now that would certainly be a nightmare to sleep on, wouldn’t it?

AT-AT Walker Loft Bed for Hothy Dreams

I would sleep like a Jedi in this awesome AT-AT bed, while dreaming about laying waste to Hoth. Pew, Pew, Pew! Take that rebel scum! What’s that? Pesky Snowspeeders? They are nothing. Wait what? What’s that cable. The legs are all wobbly. We’re going down! Whew! It was only a dream. An amazing dream in an amazing bed!

This giant AT-AT loft bed is the best bed ever. Some lucky kid is smiling every night as he lays down inside of this thing.

I don’t know who the parents are that built this awesome thing, but I am kidnapping them and taking them home. I’ve already bought the supplies. Now work, damn you.

X-wing Fighter Bed: Red 5 Nodding Off

Kids can be rebellious. I say give a rebel kid a rebel bed. A rebel X-wing Fighter bed like this one. Well, the bed actually sits beneath the body of the ship, allowing the kid to climb up into the cockpit. If I had had this as a kid, I would never have left my bedroom.

The detail is pretty nice on this X-Wing bed too, with its Astromech droid, X-foils that open and close, and a cockpit where you can sit and watch DVDs on the screen in the nose of the ship.

The owner of this bed sure is one lucky kid. I hope he grows up to destroy a Death Star and earn some fame and glory.

Cirrus Sofa Lets You Take a Walk (and Even Sleep) Among the Clouds

After seeing Aladdin whisk Jasmine off to the clouds and around the world on his magic carpet, I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to hold puffs of clouds in my hands. Not that you’d be able to really hold onto them, since they’re essentially just water vapor with particulate matter and dust, but anyway…

Designer Lubo Majer took things a little further with Cirrus, a cloud-themed set of furniture that lets you lay down not on a bed of roses, but on a bed of clouds.

CirrusIt might not look like it, but a lot of effort went into making sure the clouds stayed puffy and, well, cartoonishly cloud-like. The lounges are actually stuffed with flexible polyurethane foam and propped up with a rigid OSB frame and spring system to keep them looking like clouds. And in case you were wondering, that doesn’t sacrifice any comfort at all.

HiCan Gaming Bed: You Can Sleep with Your Games – Just Don’t SLEEP with Your Games

Video games can be addictive. I think anyone who’s played a particularly engrossing game can attest to that fact. I’ve been guilty of staying up until the wee hours of the morning playing my RPGs, and I only forced myself to kick the habit after showing up to work looking like a zombie in the days ahead.

That said, the HiCan Gaming Bed is definitely a fun, fun gadget for gamers who have money–but before anyone gets it, all I can say is they better have a lot of discipline. Otherwise, they probably won’t be able to get any sleep when they’re lying down on this bed.

Gaming BedThe bed comes with an HD projector and a high-end built-in computer that’ll definitely amp up your gaming experience several notches. Aside from that, the bed is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, as well as a reading light and a full media complement with a game and entertainment console.

Sounds like a dream come true, right? It’s perfectly real, although the bed’s price tag will probably burst your bubble: it’s priced at $52,000 (USD).

Gaming Bed1

Yeah, that’s a huge ‘game over’ for a lot of us. Should you have the resources to afford such an extravagance, you can contact HiCan for purchasing information.

Kid’s Spaceship Bed: To Sleep and Beyond!

There are cool dads and there are awesome dads. Redditor JeremiahGordon is the awesome type. You see, he built this cool spaceship his son Finn’s fifth birthday – and it is completely amazing.
spaceship bed

He made a loft platform for the bed, with portals that look out into space, and then created a spaceship control room in the space below the bed. Most dads would have stopped at the loft platform. Dad pieced together the master control board from junk he found in a television station’s dumpster. They weren’t using the stuff anymore.

spaceship bed controls

It has so many switches and levers that this kid will never go to bed on time again. I hope he grows up to be an Astronaut, or at least do something this cool for his own kids when he’s older. Though he could just grow up to be a TV director.
