Best Buy Discounts MacBook Air Starting At $799 Today And Tomorrow

macbook air best buy sale 640x384 Best Buy Discounts MacBook Air Starting At $799 Today And Tomorrow

If you’ve ever had the pleasure to attend a press event or convention, you’ll know us journalists love a good Mac, especially the MacBook. That’s why when we heard Best Buy was selling the MacBook Air for $200 less than the MSRP, we immediately thought you should know in case you’re planning on buying one in the near future.

Best Buy will be running a Winter Doorbuster sale today and tomorrow both in-store and online where you’ll be able to pick up some HDTVs, a DROID RAZR M and a gift card when you purchase an iPod Nano. But one item that instantly made us giddy was the MacBook Air sale they’re having as Best Buy will knock off $200 off your Macbook Air order.

Sure – there could possibly be a refresh for both the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro this June, but when you consider this year’s MacBook Air model is already an impressive laptop with its Intel Core i5 processor with Ivy Bridge, we will completely be OK with your purchase this weekend, especially if it’s a planned Valentine’s Day present for your significant other. I mean, a ring would be much better, but a laptop says “I Love You,” too. I guess.

Best Buy drops price on all MacBook Air models for weekend promotion

We’ve got some good news for those who have been wanting a MacBook Air but find the higher price tag a little difficult to swallow, as Best Buy has discounted all MacBook Air models in a weekend promotion. All four MacBook Air models have seen their prices cut by $200, which should make an Air purchase a little more manageable for some folks. The only thing is that this promotion requires you to make your purchasing decisions quickly, because the deals are only good through Saturday (which is tomorrow, in case you’ve lost track of time).

Of course, with these lower price tags, there’s a chance that some models will sell out before the promotion comes to a close, in which case you’ll simply be out of luck. That $200 discount brings the 11.6-inch Airs with 64GB and 128GB of storage down to $799 and $899, respectively. Those prices aren’t too bad, but if you’re looking for a MacBook Air with a bit more to offer, the 13.3-inch model with 128GB of storage has come down to $999. Finally, the 13.3-inch model with 256GB of storage is at $1,299 during this promotion.

To make the deal sweeter, Best Buy is also offering free shipping on these MacBook Airs. Expect more than a few people to take advantage of these deals, and indeed, we’re already seeing some restrictions on the $799 11.6-inch MacBooks Airs. Though they don’t appear to be sold out yet, Best Buy is no longer offering to ship them, meaning that you’ll have to pick yours up in store if you order one.

Earlier this week, Apple delivered its financial report for its fiscal Q1 2013. Though things looked solid for the most part with Apple declaring record iPhone and iPad sales, the company’s stock has taken some hits since the report was released. Are you planning on picking up one of these MacBook Airs during Best Buy’s promotion?

Best Buy’s Got a Crazy Sale on the MacBook Air

Best Buy apparently didn’t lose enough money matching Walmart’s iPhone prices. Now it’s running an absurd two day sale on MacBook Airs. You can save $200 off four 2012 models, which is the deepest discount on a new MacBook Air Dealzmodo has ever seen. The promotion is running through tomorrow, so you’ve got a day to figure out whether you want to pull the trigger. More »

Whoops, Best Buy Accidentally Gave Away $50 in a Coupon

Best Buy released a too good to be true coupon earlier today: Spend a $100 and save $50 automatically when you pay with a MasterCard credit card. The fine print had excluded a few products but it was pretty much a free $50 bucks for everything else. So predictably people took advantage of ol’ Best Buy and rung up thousands of dollars of Amazon.com and iTunes gift cards for half off, Apple TVs for $50, Kindle Paperwhites for cheap and anything they could find without any limits. Leap Motion Signs Exclusive Deal With Best Buy

leap1 Leap Motion Signs Exclusive Deal With Best BuyAfter teaming up with Asus earlier this month, Leap Motion is announcing today that it has signed an exclusive deal with Best Buy to bring its revolutionary new device to all Best Buy stores in the U.S. and online starting this spring. “The Leap,” as it is called, will be available for pre-order online at BestBuy.com beginning in February. Meanwhile, Leap Motion will continue taking pre-orders directly at LeapMotion.com. (more…)

Leap Motion inks Best Buy exclusive for motion-tracking dongle

Leap Motion‘s ultra-precise Controller will launch at Best Buy exclusively, the company has announced, with pre-orders of the motion-tracking dongle kicking off in February. Set to go on sale both in Best Buy stores and through the retailer’s site – in addition to Leap Motion’s own preorders – the 3-inch long gadget hooks up to your computer via USB, and can track the movements of up to ten individual fingers around it.

In fact, Leap Motion’s technology can not only track ten fingers, but with an accuracy of up to 1/100th of a millimeter. There’s no visible delay in the tracking either, the company says, thanks to a 290fps capture rate, and the area of sensitivity covers 150-degrees.

Of course, hardware is only half of the equation, and so Leap Motion has been working on cultivating the developer scene so that there’s sufficient software to make owning the controller itself worthwhile. 12,000 free developer units have already been seeded, with applications in gaming, computer-aided design, augmented reality, and more.

Leap Motion walkthrough:

Earlier this month, Leap Motion announced a deal with ASUS to instill select future PCs from the company with integrated motion-control tracking. This new deal with Best Buy will mean even those without a new ASUS PC will be able to join in, though the retailer will only be the exclusive North American sales partner.

Those outside of the US and Canada can order direct from the manufacturer, with the controller varying in price depending on your country. In the US, it’s $69.99 before shipping; for a UK delivery, for instance, that rises to $83.99 before shipping. Deliveries are expected early this year.

White PS3 Slim destined for Canada according to Best Buy listing

We’re getting some good news for our pals in Canada this evening, as Best Buy seems to think that Sony’s white PS3 super slim will be launching in the country later this month. A new listing for the colored console has popped up on Best Buy’s website, giving us details about its release date and price to boot. Since Best Buy probably wouldn’t begin advertising a new console without advance notice from Sony, we feel okay saying that this is probably legitimate, but keep in mind that there hasn’t been any official confirmation from Sony at this hour.

In any case, Best Buy says these white consoles will begin arriving at its warehouses on January 27, which is just a couple short weeks away. There’s a 500GB hard drive packed in this bundle, along with one year of PS Plus. There doesn’t appear to be any games included in this package, but with that year of PS Plus, you’ll probably be swimming in free games before long.

No word on how long this limited edition bundle will be around, but if you want to take one home with you, you’ll have to drop $300. That doesn’t seem too bad considering the size of the hard drive and limited edition color, but keep in mind that this is Sony’s newest PlayStation model. A few people have been complaining about the look and feel of this latest PlayStation Slim, so you might want to take that into account if you’re thinking of picking this one up.

Still, as far as PS3 packages go, the hard drive makes this is one of the better offerings we’ve seen come out of Sony. There isn’t any word on whether or not this limited edition color will make its way to the US, but since it’s been released in Europe, Australia, Japan, and is apparently headed for Canada, that’s a pretty good sign. We’ll have to wait and see what Sony has to say on the matter, so stay tuned.

Target Launches Year-Round Price Match Of Online Retailers

Target Launches Year Round Price Match Of Online Retailers

We don’t know about you, but when it comes to shopping, we prefer to do it from the comfort of our home while sipping a chilled glass of Hi-C and reading the latest Cracked magazine. Forget for a minute how reading a magazine and shopping online wouldn’t make any sense and let’s move on to why you’re here: Target is announcing a year-round price match with online retailers.

Now, before you get excited about a bargain you found on UncleWilliesHouseOfDeals.net that you plan to bring in to Target in order to get a 110-inch HDTV into your pickup truck for $.28, there are some limitations to the price matching with online retailers. First off, it needs to be a way more legitimate retailer such as Amazon, Walmart, BestBuy, ToysRus, and, ironically, Target’s online website.

Target shoppers will also be able to demand their price match before or after a product was purchased from their stores. All you’ll need to do is make a trip to the lovely Target Guest Services section of the store to show them proof of the price difference, and Target will match that price.

Target’s year-round price match of online retailers goes into affect immediately.

Best Buy Lost $65K In One Day Trying to Price Match Walmart’s iPhone Discount

Best Buy dropped the price of the 16GB iPhone 5 to $150 last month, and Walmart bested that with a $127 iPhone. Now Best Buy says lost a whole $65,000 on this one product in just one day because it was forced go meet that lower price. More »

Best Buy complains about Walmart’s iPhone 5 discount ad, loses $65K in one day

If you remember, Both Walmart and Best Buy competed in a discount war with Apple’s iPhone 5, where both retailers offered steep discounts on the new smartphone. Best Buy dropped the price down to $150 for the 16GB entry-level model, while Walmart dropped it to just $127. However, it turns out that Best Buy took quite a hit on profits that day, and the company is accusing Walmart of misleading customers with their iPhone 5 discount ad.

iphone-5-hands-on-slashgear-115-580x289

Essentially, Best Buy wasn’t too happy about Walmart’s steeper discount on the iPhone 5 because they don’t think that Walmart had enough iPhone 5 units to meet demand. Therefore, Best Buy was filling the stock at a discount that Walmart doesn’t have. Best Buy has reportedly claimed it lost about $65,000 in profit on the day Walmart advertised its iPhone 5 promotion, and the store says it was forced to match Walmart’s advertised price, even though they claim Walmart didn’t have enough iPhone 5 inventory in the first place.

However, Walmart claims that it did, in fact, have sufficient stock of the iPhone 5, quoting 98% availability at its stores carrying the device. Walmart had noted as the sale launched that it was working closely with Apple on the promotion and was securing significant numbers of units, but that the sale was first-come first-serve with no rain checks being offered.

Any way you look at it, it seems Best Buy was simply just upset that Walmart was undercutting them, and they felt like they needed a reliable excuse in order to effectively complain about the price difference. $65,000 in one day may not seem like a lot, and we don’t know what Best Buy’s sales goals were for the day, but that much of a loss in a single day is huge any way you look at it.
