Best Buy Insignia cTV with DVR-less TiVo built-in launches July 31st

Best Buy and TiVo announced they were forming a “broad partnership” two years ago, then revealed a connected HDTV product last year, and now it’s apparently just days from being released. This information posted over at ZatzNotFunny pegs the launch date for the Insignia cTV as July 31st, packing the TiVo Premiere’s menu system and apps like Netflix, CinemaNow and Pandora. The 32- and 42-inch models feature built-in WiFi, but no included DVR and don’t require a TiVo subscription. With the recent launch of multiroom streaming on the TiVo Premiere and another DVR-less product from TiVo in the Preview, this is a perfect opportunity to include multiroom access, no set-top box needed. Unfortunately, like the pricetag of the cTV units, that detail has yet to be revealed.

HTC Status ships July 17th, currently in a pre-order relationship with AT&T

HTC Status

Following the usual leak + wait-and-see saga, AT&T has today confirmed that it’ll be the exclusive home to one half of HTC’s Facebook-infused duo. The so-called Status will be making its way onto Ma Bell’s airwaves on July 17th, with eager social networkers able to get their pre-orders in today. It’ll sell for $49.99 on a two-year agreement, with that tally netting you a dedicated Facebook “Share” button that’ll allow photos / videos /websites to be instantly uploaded to your account. We’re also told that it’ll ship with Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) onboard, with an “enhanced version” of HTC’s Sense overlay. Other specs include a 5 megapixel camera (with autofocus and LED flash), a 2.6-inch touch panel, 480 x 320 screen resolution and capacitive navigation buttons. Oh, and if you’re uninterested in the hue you see about, Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores will feature an exclusive mauve edition in due time. Fancy.

Toshiba Thrive in stock at Newegg and Amazon, is ready to ship free to your door

You’ll need to wait until Sunday to get your hands on a Toshiba Thrive at Best Buy, but the Honeycomb slate is ready to head out Newegg’s door, with free shipping to boot. $430 nets you an 8GB tablet with two-day shipping, or you can add 30 bucks to get it overnight. That’s unlikely to mean tomorrow at this point, but if you play your cards right, you could be sliding through emails a la Swype before the weekend is out.

Update: Best Buy has confirmed that the Thrive will be available on July 10th, both in-store and online.

Update 2: Looks like it’s live on Amazon, too!

Redesigned Droid Bionic wants to fight you, shows up in leaked Best Buy ad

Motorola has sure been taking its sweet time with the Droid Bionic. But hey — better late than busted, right? We got some hands-on time with the LTE handset way back in January, only to get word in April that the device was going back into hiding while the company made “several enhancements.” Rumors about said improvements have popped up in the meantime, and the device has made an appearance on the FCC, but Motorola hasn’t done all that much talking about the upcoming smartphone. Looks like the handset may finally be getting its day in the sun — a newly-leaked Best Buy ad offers up some familiar specs and tough-talking advertising copy, as well as the enticing and vaguely threatening promise that the Bionic is “coming soon.” It’s worth noting that a Droid Bionic accessory page has been live at Best Buy since February, but sadly, not even this ad gets us closer to a cemented release date.

Toshiba Thrive tablet on display at Best Buy, possibly on sale too?

Toshiba Thrive
Yes, what you’re looking at is a shackled Toshiba Thrive tablet out in the wild at Best Buy — not just waiting caged in a cardboard confine in some dreary stockroom. Though the device most likely won’t ship until July 10th, “Dandroid” over at Toshiba Thrive Forums is reporting that his local Austin, Texas location is evidently neglecting that memo. The store apparently has several 16GB and 32GB WiFi models ready to fly off the shelves for $480 and $580, but we won’t hold our breath until we see a proper YouTube unboxing. Still, it may be worth a detour on the way home if you’re feeling lucky or just can’t wait any longer to inspect those full-sized ports.

HTC Flyer now includes stylus at Best Buy, you can hang on to your 80 bucks

Pinching pennies so you can buy the HTC Flyer and the optional $80 stylus? Give your thumb and index finger a rest for a while. Best Buy, which originally sold the Scribe digital pen as an additional accessory, is now including it with the tablet, free of charge. A quick look at the retailer’s online store shows the pair sitting side-by-side in perfect harmony, bundled in the same package for $499. This may not seal the deal for your indecisive mind, but at least now you’ll be able to draw moustaches on your ex’s Facebook pics without your wallet giving you dirty looks.

Toshiba Thrive WiFi tablet hitting Best Buy on July 10th?

Toshiba Thrive
Toshiba’s Thrive — the Honeycomb tablet that went so long without a name — has evidently snagged itself a July 10th street date, according to Best Buy’s inventory database. If you’ll recall, pre-orders for the 10.1-inch pad got underway June 13th, and though we’ve long been hearing it would go on sale July 10th, Toshiba has only been giving a loose ETA of mid-July. Our tipster’s informed us that their particular location’s received “quite a few” 16-giggers in-stock, and they’re just waiting to shine under the fluorescent showroom lights. So, it’ll still be about a week’s time until you can get your paws on one, but in the meantime, scoot past the break and you’ll find some Thrive packages in the flesh, er, cardboard.

[Thanks, Anonymous]

Best Buy sucks at product recognition: Wireless Keyboard for TouchPad, iPad sold separately

Oh, really Best Buy –you don’t say? Too bad… that $69.99 price tag would be so much easier to swallow if you threw in the whole kit and kaboodle.

[Thanks, Kevin]

HP TouchPad veers into stores early, flaunts its webOS moves (video)

Dying to get your hands on HP’s TouchPad before it’s available on July 1st? According to Pre Central, a visit to either Best Buy or Walmart may afford you the opportunity. During the past few days, the stores have apparently begun quietly displaying demo-loaded versions of the slate. The device went up for pre-order about a week ago, but for webOS hopefuls still contemplating whether to take the Palm-rooted plunge, a pre-release impression may not be a bad grab between socks and motor oil. Don’t feel like taking a trip to Wally World, you say? You’ll find a video overview past the break; although the box to the left has us wondering if now’s a good time for getting lucky
