BlackBerry 10.1 OS Update Seeding Begins

BlackBerry 10.1 OS Update Seeding BeginsIf you happen to own a BlackBerry Z10 in your pocket, then you would be pleased to hear that the Canadian smartphone company has started to seed the first major update for their new range of smartphones (at least for the ones that are powered by the BlackBerry 10.1 operating system). Seeding of the BlackBerry OS version 10.1 has kicked off, and it is advised that your BlackBerry device is connected to a decent Wi-Fi network as well as is fully charged, considering how the entire download weighs in at a massive 1GB. Unfortunately, it seems that the update is available only in the Philippines at this point in time.

No official changelog has accompanied this particular update, but there is nothing to worry about since one knows what to expect, including HDR stills, PIN-to-PIN messaging, APN edition, an improved BlackBerry World store, and an improved text picker among others. This update is said to roll out stage by stage, so if you are not residing in the Philippines, some patience is required at this point in time.

The Alleged BlackBerry R10 Now Spotted In Black

The Alleged BlackBerry R10 Now Spotted In Black

BlackBerry currently only has two new smartphones to offer that run on its latest BB 10 OS. The company had previously confirmed that they will be releasing a number of new devices this year, including entry-level and mid-range smartphones. While rumors of a BlackBerry 10 powered tablet have been floating, we’ve seen the company maintain different product lineups in the past, such as the Curve and Bold. The first rumor of this BlackBerry 10 R-Series smartphone was actually a sketch by someone who had seen the device. Then this alleged smartphone was spotted in white, red and now it has been spotted in black as well.

Some unconfirmed specifications for the R10 have also been revealed. The smartphone might have a 3.1 inch display with a 720×720 resolution, 8 GB of internal storage, 2GB RAM, 5 megapixel camera on the back, 1800 mAh battery and BlackBerry 10.1 OS. Will this smartphone ever see the light of day? That remains to be seen. For what its worth, the handset in these leaks just might be a prototype of a smartphone that shares similar design aesthetics. The company’s CEO said a couple of weeks back that their new products will be fantastic, does the alleged R10 look like it is? [photos via DGtle]

BlackBerry 10.1 Update Will Bring A Couple Of New Features

BlackBerry 10.1 Update Will Bring A Couple Of New Features

Earlier this week we reported that BlackBerry 10.1 OS update had been leaked. The features that this update will be bringing have been detailed today by an official source, and hopefully they’ll be present in the public release. As of now it is expected that BlackBerry will roll out OS 10.1 update by the end of this month or in the first week of May. It is also expected that the Q10 will ship with version 10.1 installed, whereas the Z10 will receive it over-the-air.

Major changes will be made to the camera functionality, which will be sped up considerably. Support for HDR photos will also be added. It is also rumored that the update will allow the latest BlackBerry smartphones to open an active connection between a PC and the device, this would make it easier to access files on the computer. Other expected features include BlackBerry Mobile Voice System Support, BlackBerry Balance, Type N Go, Cross Domain Email Warnings, Dark Theme Support, Out-of-Box-Experience, Smartcard Support, Mnemonic Phone Dialing, Word Prediction and Keyboard Shortcuts. The update will also bring the ability to send PIN messages directly from BlackBerry Hub.

BlackBerry 10.1 OS Leaked

BlackBerry 10.1 OS Leaked It seems that there is a spanking new software update to the BlackBerry 10 OS which will be introduced later this month, which would in essence be in time for the launch of the BlackBerry Q10. Of course, with this launch of the BlackBerry 10.1 OS update would also bring with it a fair number of features that will allow BlackBerry Q10 users to maximize the use of its physical QWERTY keyboard, now how about that?

One of the new features would be the new Type N Go, which will offer quick access to a range of commands right from the search bar. Just how does it work? The answer is simple – all you need to do is type “email” and then a contact’s name will launch said email client, while adding them as a recipient, all in one fell swoop. Isn’t that more or less dummy proof, and certainly makes your smartphone deserve the “smart” label attached to it? Exciting times are certainly ahead for the BlackBerry 10 community, so those who have been sitting on the fence all this while have something worth looking forward to.
