WordPress For Blackberry 10 Previewed On Video

Heads up bloggers, we know that there are times when you have a cool idea you want to share on your blog but don’t have a computer with you, and sometimes it’s because of these situations that leads to us losing what could have been a great story. Thanks to smartphones and tablets, blogging on the go is possible and if you were planning on picking up a Blackberry 10 device, you might be interested to learn that a preview of the WordPress app for Blackberry 10 has been released on video (thanks to Simon at Crackberry), giving us a glimpse at what we might be able to expect. For the most part the app will do the most basic blogging functions, such as creating a new post, add tags, photos and the likes, and it even makes use of the Blackberry 10 cascades UI to top it off. Awhile back RIM mentioned that they planned to have 70,000 apps for Blackberry 10 at launch, and it looks like WordPress will be one of the big names – at least as far as bloggers are concerned. In any case check out the video above to see WordPress in action on Blackberry 10.

RIM: Expect six BlackBerry 10 phones in 2013 but no carrier exclusives

RIM will offer at least six BlackBerry 10 devices in 2013, the company has revealed, targeting all elements of the price range, and will not follow Windows Phone in using carrier lock-ins to boost marketing spend. The first two devices – one all-touch, the other pairing a touchscreen and a keyboard – will launch on January 30, with high-, mid-, and low-price BlackBerry 10 phones coming over the course of the year, CMO Frank Boulben told FierceWireless.

Part of RIM’s strategy is to get as many BlackBerry 10 devices in front of as many potential users as possible, regardless of carrier. While Nokia opted to sign exclusivity agreements with one carrier per country for its flagship Windows Phone handsets – such as AT&T and the Nokia Lumia 900 – RIM is spreading its net widely.

In fact, over 150 carriers are testing BlackBerry 10 currently, while Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile USA all confirmed this week that they would be offering phones running the OS. “Our business customers are extremely interested in it,” T-Mobile USA CEO John Legere said at CES.

BlackBerry 10′s dominance of RIM’s line-up won’t be immediate, however, and BlackBerry 7 will linger for some time, taking care of the low-end of the market. “We intend over time as we transition the portfolio to have a full range of devices” Boulben said, though gave no indication of what sort of timescale RIM had in mind.

I Wish iOS and Android Had the BlackBerry 10 Keyboard

The new BlackBerry 10 looks very good. It may be too late to save RIM, but it’s certainly not too little. It’s loaded with great stuff. In fact, its keyboard is so terrific that I wish every manufacturer had it. Here’s why: More »

Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile to offer BlackBerry 10 devices

RIM’s BlackBerry 10 platform will feature on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile USA, all three US carriers have confirmed, with each of the networks publicly stating that they will be offering smartphones running the new OS. The new line-up, set to be officially revealed come January 30, with at least two new models demonstrated at the time.

“We’re hopeful its going to be a good device,” Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said at CES this week, Reuters reports. “We’ll carry it.”

AT&T, meanwhile, were slightly more cagey, though did indicate that BlackBerry 10 would be offered if only to keep them competitive among upgraders. “It’s logical to expect our current [BlackBerry] customers will have the best BlackBerry devices to choose from in the future” CMO David Christopher suggested.

As for T-Mobile USA, CEO John Legere was the most enthusiastic of the three. “We’re extremely optimistic that it’s going to be a successful product” the chief exec insisted, saying that “our business customers are extremely interested in it.”

The announcement follows similar votes of confidence in BlackBerry 10 by all of the key UK carriers last month, including confirmation that 4G models would be broadly available.

RIM Plans To Release At Least Six BlackBerry 10 Phones In 2013

RIM Plans To Release At Least Six BlackBerry 10 Phones In 2013

[CES 2013] We’ve been talking about RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 event going on in New York City later this month as the results of the event will either make or break the company seeing how iOS and Android have become more popular than ever these days. We know we should expect the BlackBerry Z10 as well as the BlackBerry X10, but it looks like RIM won’t be stopping at releasing just two BlackBerry 10 devices.

During an interview with Fierce Wireless, CMO Frank Boulben said we should expect at least six BlackBerry 10 phones to be released in 2013, two of which will be announced at this month’s BlackBerry 10 event. The six phones will be aimed to hit at a range of price points as RIM currently has no exclusive carrier agreements for any of them at this time. Funny Boulben should say that as we caught a leak of a BlackBerry Z10 with a Verizon branding just this morning. Maybe the Verizon-branded Z10 was a dummy phone that was produced in case Verizon gave RIM a call to secure a deal for it. Or, maybe Boulben isn’t telling the whole truth with that last statement. We guess we’ll find out on January 30.

This is the new BlackBerry 10, two weeks from its official release.
